What does everybody think. For me the sprint races were better. But I do think we need to a little less of the sprint racing. Just the change things up every now or so.
I've always preferred longer races. Even if there is a risk of them turning into a snooze fest like a couple of weeks ago. Just because there's more strategy involved, which can mix the order a up a little bit.

I like the mixed variety, I just think the sprints should be a few laps shorter, so they don't need or have to have a mandatory pitstop. Everyone still races around the stops rather than on the track making the current sprints feel more like condensed regular races than traditional touring car flat out sprints.

Yeah I think we need to loosen up the rules just a little bit on what's acceptable and what's not. But of course that's a fine line between having hard racing or a demo derby which we have seen before when they have loosen up the rules on "racing".

While it's a massive shame that the Murph/Stanaway entry is at risk. The situation in NSW doesn't look like it's going to get better anytime soon. Given the option, I would rather see 1000 run with no crowd again then god knows when.

Yeah, a real shock. Didn't expect to see the Kelly name leave the sport completely.

If you'd told me this a few years back I would've welcomed the news but Todd's videos turned my opinion of them and their team around and now I'm actually sad to see them leave. It's probably a good time for them to cut and run though.

It did seem like when Rick retired he wanted absolutely nothing to do with it anymore. Todd was taking the reins and it seems like it was just too much for him alone. All that development he did when they switched to Ford and then they'd end up having to do it all over again for the new cars.

Edit:

More power to them. I was critical of the team until the Nissan era. Then again when they both should have stepped out of the cars(to make way for new blood, of course). Good challenge for their TCR effort. Sad they couldn't get that sorted.
Well, this is the best time to cut their losses and grab a lifeboat before the iceberg.

2 months. 🤮
This significant pause in proceedings, along with the upcoming "summer break" for F1, is going to drive me mad. I just hope that Phillip Island gets re-instated.

Wonder what happened to the Queensland Raceway round that supposed to take the place of Sydney in late August. Surely that still could have gone ahead? It's going to be a long wait. 😓

Crate engines?

While the Gen3 Mustang’s Ford V8 is known to be a 5.4-litre variant of the DOHC, 32-valve ‘Coyote’, the basis of the Camaro’s 5.7-litre pushrod V8 hasn’t been identified.

It is believed to be a locally developed ‘hybrid’ of components from multiple GM racing engines.

I just hope whatever Gen3 becomes when it arrives in hopefully 12 months. Is that we see racing like we saw in the first couple of years of COTF, where it gave 10-12 different winners in a season. Where the competition allowed those to be able to compete with T8 or FPR for the title. I just hope Gen3 actually has a result that can bring back the sport we love to it's fullest potential.

We still have 2 months. Even then i don't think we'll big crowds. Maybe the first two in VIC and maybe GC if that even goes ahead who knows. It's all up in the air still.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too surprised if the remaining races are run with no crowds or at the very least, with strict limits on numbers. This situation doesn't look like it's going to get hugely better anytime soon. 😣

Yeah, I live in QLD and hopefully we get out of lockdown Sunday night, but we will still have a lot restrictions when we come out of it.

I know there is a new logo for the Bathurst 1000 but it's not exciting news to me. It look's cool I guess but, I'd rather see a mini Eseries start for these two months. I know there is one coming at the end of the month, but I don't think anyone will be interested by then. It would great to do it now whilst nothing is on. You could get some F1 drivers join up as they are on a Summer break as well.

Now if you excuse me I'm making my iRacing account as we speak.

The new Bathurst 1000 date is looking incredibly shaky. They should've just left it at the original date and run with no crowds. The way NSW is going they won't be opening up this side of Christmas unfortunately.

Honestly can't blame Challenge Bathurst either. After all their date has been set for ages and Supercars is just trying to muscle in.

It's commendable that Peter Adderton is trying to make a deal between the two but this part of his post annoys me a bit.
Honestly I don’t understand why the leadership at Challenge Bathurst are taking this stance we are all motorsport fans and these past 2 years have been a trying time for everyone in the Australian motorsport industry, we finally have a date and something to look forward too.

Doesn't take a genius to work out why Challenge Bathurst aren't backing down.
