The jury in the Ryan Giggs trail has been discharged after failing to reach a verdict on any of the three counts at Manchester Crown Court. The CPS are considering a re-trail.

Man City agree deal in region of £17 million for Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji.
Wesley Fofana is now a Chelsea player after he completed his move from Leicester for £75 million.
Wolves have signed Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart for £15 million.
New Newcastle striker Alexander Isak can make his debut v Liverpool tonight after been granted a work permit.
Man United manager Erik Ten Hag says there will ne no more signings at the club after Antony and Dubravka, he also confirms that Ronaldo will stay.

He'll be a back up to De Gea, its a loan with a £5 mill option to buy.

Haaland scoring so freely he's just bagged a brace during the half time break.

Edit: Apparently one hour of play between the first goal against Palace and the third against Forest. He's scored more than anyone but Brentford, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Spurs. He's scored more than Bournemouth, West Ham, Forest, and Wolves combined.

Ludicrous. And he's not going to the Blood World Cup, so when everyone else is knackered in January, he won't be.

Haaland first half hat-trick for City which is back-to-back hat tricks for him, Alvarez scored his first two City goals and cancelo got the other, Liverpool needed a 90+8th minute equalizer from Carvalho to get the win over Newcastle, Isak scored on his debut to put Newcastle in front but Firmino and then Carvalho got Liverpool the win.

Five wins from five for Arsenal with Martinelli and Jesus getting the goals tonight, Douglas Luiz scored direct from a corner for Villa, A Kehrer own goal and a Soucek equalizer for West Ham and Spurs in a VAR-riddled match.

Terrific comeback win for Bournemouth from 2-0 down, Toney hat-trick for Brentford, Liverpool pretty poor against Everton, Newcastle had loads of chances in their game, lots of dodgy VAR calls today.

Villa v Man City to come.

Shocked faces reported at Everton when James Garner reported for his first day of training...

Great goal against the run of play by Man Utd, and an excellent piece of refereeing to allow play to continue after a clear foul in the build-up play could have brought the attacking move to an end. Instead, Rashford teed up Antony nicely, who scores on his debut.

Other than that, however, Arsenal have looked pretty dominant, though Saka should have been sent off for a horrible, deliberate foul on Fernandez that the officials somehow managed to miss entirely. I hope he gets a suspension after the match, not least to teach Saka some manners, but also to set an example of how such things won't go unpunished just because it was missed at the time.

edit 1: Eriksen has had a blinder today... two 'assist assists' and then a brilliantly unselfish pass for Man Utd's 3rd.

Arsenal were the better side for an hour, and brought it back to 1-1, but after that Man Utd have been the better side.

Saka scored for Arsenal but should be off the pitch, and his diving, gamesmanship and sheer unprofessionalism make me sick.

edit 2: And another needlessly violent foul from Saka. Filthy player.

Brighton 5-2 Leicester
Man United 3-1 Arsenal

Brilliant win and performance from Brighton, two goals from Mac Allister including a penalty and a fantastic free kick, Caicedo, Trossard and a Thomas own goal were the other Brighton goals, Leicester were involved but it was still pretty bad by them, Iheanacho put them ahead after just 50 seconds and Daka scored their other goal, and they stay bottom with Brighton in 4th.

Well I didn't see that result coming at all! Two goals from Rashford and Antony with a nice finish on his debut, Saka with Arsenal goal who dominated at times nad played some nice stuff but United scored at the right times and Ten Hag made the right subs at the right time, Eriksen was superb in the middle of the park.

Had a feeling this was coming after last night and the comments he made afterwards.

But still to give him £280 million to spend in transfer window and then sack him the next week is mad!

Chelsea now expected to seek permission from Brighton to speak to Graham Potter, Pocchettino is available too.

Chelsea have been given permission to speak to Graham Potter by Brighton and he is expected to speak to him today.

How good is Zelenskyy?
Not only is he whipping Putin's ass, he has time to score twice against Liverpool too 👏

Graham Potter has arrived at Chelsea's Cobham training ground; he has verbally agreed to become their new head coach and will sign a five-year deal.

Potter to Chelsea now officially confirmed.

Now I really want Tuchel to go and take the Brighton job. Proper swapsie in place there, that would be hilarious. Especially as Tuchel would be moving up the table.

All Football in England, Wales and Scotland is postponed this weekend after the Queen's sad passing yesterday, this obviously includes Premier League down to non-league and grassroots and Scottish PL down.

The Government did actually say that Sport could take place this weekend, but the Footballing authorities took this decision as a mark of respect, also its highly likely that the funeral will take place next weekend so it's also doubtful that there will be Football on next weekend too if the funeral does take place, and the week after is an international break.

Still no word as of yet as to if Premier League Football will resume this weekend, the issue is Policing for the games and then for the funeral on Monday, this mostly effect London and the London clubs but it does have some effect across the country.

Football League will resume tomorrow as scheduled with Championship, League's One and Two plus the Vanarama Leagues, plus the European stuff will take plus so the Champions, Europa and Conference League will mostly have them scheduled matches, but Arsenal v PSV Europa game has been postponed, and Rangers v Napoli has been put back a day.

Breaking news!

Premier League to resume this weekend but only seven of ten games will take place. Man United v Leeds, Brighton v Palace and Chelsea v Liverpool all off.

Games this weekend, it's a reduced schedule.

Friday.
Aston Villa v Southampton (8pm Sky)
Nottingham Forest v Fulham (8pm)

Saturday.
Newcastle v Bournemouth
Tottenham v Leicester (5.30 Sky)
Wolves v Man City (12.30 BT)

Sunday.
Brentford v Arsenal (12pm Sky)
Everton v West Ham (2.15 Sky)

Much changed schedule due to the Queen's funeral on Monday and the policing issues it brings, three games postponed.

International break after this weekend, Brentford's Ivan Toney has been called up to the England squad for the first time.
