2022 NFL Season

The Bengals were up 22-0 at the half to New England. I joked to my brothers that they better not pull an Indy. Little did we know how close it would get. Some fluky plays, including a touchdown for the Pats where the ball was chucked into the endzone to a receiver draped by 3 defenders that got deflected right into another Patriot receiver's hands, nearly led to a comeback. In fact, Cincy never did score in the second half, but they were able to hold off NE for their 11th win of the season, 22-18. I sure was stressed out watching the last few minutes.

The AFC North is nowhere near sewed up. Buffalo comes into town next Monday night, followed by a visit from the Ravens which could possibly decide who eventually wins the division. Here is the one thing I do know. IF the Bengals win out AND the Chiefs drop one of their last two (though unlikely with their opponents being DEN and LV), Cincinnati will be the #1 seed in the AFC thanks to head-to-head wins against both KC and BUF.

Merry Christmas, GTPlaneteers! Today:

  • GB Packers at MIA Dolphins
  • DEN Broncos at LAR Rams
  • TB Buccaneers at ARI Cardinals

Enjoy today's games!

Not sure what Tua and McDaniel are thinking. Same ol' Dolphins. Hopefully the Lions make the playoffs so we can have one GTP non-disappointment

Amazing weekend for the Packers with every result on Saturday they might have hoped for & then squeaking out a win against the Dolphins. Puts them solidly in a position to make the playoffs. The Dolphins looked scary at times with explosive deep plays ... but then Tagovailoa threw 3 surprisingly bad interceptions which allowed the Packers to come away with the win. Even if the Packers should make the playoffs, it's hard to see them progressing far, however, as they look like a shadow of the team in the last 2 seasons with Rodgers really looking ordinary most of the time.

Well, that explains it...

Tua is in concussion protocol now. Pretty sure there is going to be a lawsuit over all of this one day.

I wonder if he plays again this year. Miami needs to win both of the games to clinch a playoff spot.

I thought they just had to beat the Jets to clinch. Because of tiebreakers

Upon the Denver Broncos eliminated from the postseason, the Broncos canned Nathaniel Hackett. He was fired as the 2022 Denver Broncos are currently 4-11 on the season. He becomes the fifth-ever coach to not complete a full NFL season as a coach. So one year with the team, and he doesn't get to complete it.

Yeah, it's going to be a struggle. It's comforting knowing that Tua only sucks when his brain is scrambled eggs. We need to tape some memory foam to the back of his helmet.

This week takes us into the sunset of 2022 and the sunrise of 2023. Before I mention this week's games, let's update the Playoff picture. Here you go (changes in italics:

It's the final game of 2022! We got the Dallas Cowboys at the freefalling Tennessee Titans. For a Texans fan, one wishes they'd both lose, but that isn't going to be possible. So we'll see which of these two teams will head into 2023 in winning form (unless this game ends in a tie).

Enjoy the final NFL game of 2022!

Happy new year, GTPlanet! How will your team(s) start 2023? Find out as this day of action goes along. I'm hearing if my Texans lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars followed by if the Chicago Bears beat the Detroit Lions, the Houston Texans will lock up the No. 1 overall draft pick for the 2023 NFL Draft. I hate the idea of tanking just to get better draft picks. I also hate the idea that just because a season is over, you don't play as hard. So I still want my beloved teams to win even if they are having bad seasons. On a different note... tonight, the AFC North is in vogue and on display when the Pittsburgh Steelers go down south to meet the Baltimore Ravens.

Enjoy the first games of 2023!

The Houston Texans have a nine-game winning streak against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Can they make it 10 today? [Expletive] NO. The Texans got stymied 31-3 at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars and finish their home record at 0-7-1. Jacksonville had more important matters than deal with my fledgling team. Houston was wanting fan suggestions on changing up their uniforms. To me, they should be more concerned right now about trying to win more games. Maybe a combination of Bill O'Brien and the playoff game at the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020(?) broke the Texans. Houston would clinch the No. 1 draft pick if they beat Detroit, but the Detroit Lions were spanking the Chicago Bears, so no clinching today.

Final game for the Houston Texans: at Indianapolis. Considering the Texans only win in Indianapolis once every blue moon, they might as well finish this 2022 season 2-14-1.

Congratulations to all winners from this week!

Don't worry. The Colts are awful. I smell another tie, just like the season opener between the two.

The Packers blow out the Vikings, shutting down Minnesota's offense and forcing multiple turnovers. So the Packers are on the cusp of a wildcard entry into the playoffs after being 4-8 just a few weeks ago. The stage is set for a final weekend battle at Lambeau between the Packers and Lions for that last NFC wildcard spot. 👍

Jets season ends after the offense once again doesn't show up for a game. They've lost 5 in a row and I am convinced that the problem is not just the lack of a QB (White was limited), but the coach doesn't seem to be effective either.

You sure you're not a Dolphins fan? I feel like Bill Belichick had a meeting with Satan or something after that game against the Raiders.

Wild game. Packers defense was the MVP last night. You look at how Jefferson was shut down and covered to death by Alexander. Absolutely busted my FF match-up this week.

Well, our QB is ineffective. Your QB keeps getting bonked in the head and that makes him ineffective.

Bills at Bengals TONIGHT!

The first Monday Night Football of 2023 involves two powerful AFC teams.

--- GAME INFORMATION ---
  • BUF Bills (12-3, AFC East Champions) at CIN (11-4, 1st in AFC North)
  • FAVORED: BUF (-1.5)
  • OVER/UNDER: 49.5 points

This should be one of the better MNF games with two winning teams playing.

Enjoy tonight's game if you'll be watching or following!

Well, it's been a wild season, with all the "top" teams having seriously "off" days at one point or another. It's sometimes hard to judge what's going on by just watching the highlight clips. Jefferson has had a stellar year, but was a complete non-factor in Sunday's game. The Packers have looked dreadful in many games and Rodgers has looked very ordinary in all the games, after two consecutive MVP seasons. But the Packers have stepped up on defense and special teams, which used to be their achilles heel. Next Sunday's game at Lambeau for the last playoff spot in the NFC could be a great game if both teams play at their best.

I'm secretly rooting for the Bengals tonight, sshhhh don't tell my wife! 🤣

I don't know if the game will continue tonight. It's one thing for someone to get injured, another when a life is potentially on the line.
