  • Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (Hey there, sorry it took so long)
  • Turn 14 Distribution x Evasive Motorsports Tesla Model 3 Dai Yoshihara '21 (or the more successful '22 car??)
  • Monster Sport SX4 Pikes Peak Special '11
  • Citroën 2CV Type A '54

WRC EA is coming out most likely will not feature Pikes Peak.

Either PD uses it or they should relinquish the licence and let others use it.

Most blatant waste of a licence. I know people will constantly make up excuses about how Pikes Peak will never fit in GT7.

Well if Pikes Peak cant fit any where in the game by the way we have Time Trials so Pikes Peak fits there. Most of the road is now tarmac rather than gravel so they dont have to worry about Rally physics.

I agree, it's the same as EA having the Porsche license for all those years and not really making the most of it.

Here's what I'd like:

More real-world tracks, especially those used for WeatherTec and Indy Car racing
More cars that can be modified for driving in those races
An ability to race through a season of faux IMSA, IndyCar, WEC, SuperFormula, etc racing

If we're never going to get prize money that makes the grinding worth it, then give us a reason to grind. Being able to race through a season would make the grinding a little easier to suffer through.

Even without the (supposed) licensing issues, what relevance does Pikes Peak have for a WRC game? It's not and never part of the WRC calendar.
Not a lot of relevance, but the best rally games tend to have hillclimb and rallycross too. RalliSport Challenge, Colin McRae DiRT, Sėbastien Loeb Rally EVO... they all also feature the Australian Outback and the Lancia Stratos, this is important and not a coincidence! :D

There's no reason they couldn't add point-to-point time trials to the game. They've done it before with Goodwood. Plus, there are plenty of road rallies and hill climbs which would make amazing real-life additions to the game.

Something I just thought about with Pikes Peak in particular is that the game would have to simulate air density which I'm not sure is a thing currently. It could be an easy "BoP" change honestly but I don't think they'd be okay with such an oversimplification. The course gains over 7,000 feet of elevation from below 7,000 (already a chore to hike for me who lives at 800 feet), to above 14,000 (I've been there and it's a miserable experience). Naturally aspirated engines lose around 50% of their power at the top.

Why you all always want so much road cars...
The online discourse over the lack of contemporary race cars in GT7 is now getting pretty toxic. To the point where I see some real reputational damage to Gran Turismo as a series that prides itself on competitive racing.

The Gr.3 line-up, the key group for GTWS, is now seriously outdated. Gr.1 is a mess with cars from completely different eras competing together, while the latest Hypercars are conspicuous by their absence. This while most other major racing titles are shouting from the rooftops about their forthcoming inclusion. Meanwhile, Gr.2 is similarly outdated with GT500 models half-a-decade old. Plus a handful of classic GT1's that once again don't fit performance wise. Yet missing icons like the 911 GT1 '98, GT-ONE, R390.

It seems to me PD took to heart criticism over the lack of roadcars in GTS. Be they classic JDM's or the latest supercars. But now the pendulum has swung the other way. The racecar line-up needs to undergo a serious revision in the coming months and years.

I won't even get into the lack of real world circuits and events. Be they inspired by real world series or traditional GT originals.

I understand enjoying a summer break and taking a step back while the movie took the spotlight. But my real worry is PD have pretty much wrapped up GT7 DLC development and fully moved onto GT8. If the last quarter of the year's DLC is as anaemic as this summer, I think we can say for sure PD are done with this title.

If PD is done with GT7, I’ll be moving to GTRevival when it comes out and I will never buy another gran Turismo game again.

I see we're still doom posting in year two of a game...
Which is honestly a valid opinion. GT7 is subjectively focused only on the Sport part. I am a regular Sport player. Almost every new Daily Races and World Series event have subjectively less effort put in them than last ones. It is seriously baffling trying to guess what is PD up to.

-----------

On topic of this thread- my prediction is sadly this:
Considering the PS+ price spike, my prediction for the September update:
  • The Himedic and GR Corolla show up at Brand Central, with the Corolla going for more than the 71,500 Cr. indicated by the price of its new engine/new body.
  • Hagerty's gets a double dose of price hikes to make up for missing the summer price hikes originally scheduled for June.
  • Full standard CRB rules apply to the wet Tokyo WTC 600 (adding wall collisions to the DQ list), Sarthe WTC 700, Sardegna WTC 800 and Spa WTC 800.
  • No other new cars, tracks, or events (much less Menu Books).
Now that a new World Series has been announced with an event in November declared as TBA, my prediction is that we are not getting a new track before November.

Come off it lol, what's with the doom posting? It's not constructive at all.
PD haven't exactly blown anyone away with the update content and schedule at all - it's not now indicative of the game suddenly wrapping up development.

PD (and Kaz straight up on Twitter) posted to say that updates for GTS will be slowing down, ahead of the reveal of GT7. Until we get an actual confirmation, fear-mongering speculation serves no purpose. I would be very surprised if GT7 doesn't have years left in the barrel, both as the prior games did and with it directly being called a long-term game.

For a reminder:

Which is honestly a valid opinion..
And thats my problem with it: Its an opinion yet its being posted as fact when there's both no factual evidence to suggest that they are done with GT7 and it's nothing more then again dissatisfaction at them or others not getting what they want. Doom posting adds nothing to the discussion.

If the TBA is a track (and assuming we return to the usual end-of-month schedule) wouldn't it have to be in either the September or October updates to be ready for November 18?

I see we're still doom posting in year two of a game...
The fact of the matter is PD's support for GT7 has dropped off a cliff. One new track in 8 months is not just disappointing, it feels like a very pointed move by PD, and is indicative of their lack of support for this title. The DLC car selection has been anaemic, misjudged, and out of touch. The lack of long promised (by Kaz himself) features & events such as Endurance races, there'll be no need to grind, hasn't been delivered. Month in, month out we're getting a handful of events without any thought, passion or enthusiasm. Missions, the one area of the game that delivers intriguing races, hasn't been updated for some 6-12 months.

That's the most damning aspect for me, it feels like Kaz & PD have lost their passion. Or at least are focused on aspects of car culture (photography/scapes, VGT's, curiosities) that don't lend themselves well to a videogame.

Let's be absolutely clear. Any long-time GT player could improve GT7 ten-fold if given a role as producer/content director at PD within no time at all. PD don't even need to add a single new car or track to transform this game and increase engagement. For online play we need official Shuffle races to engage the wider playerbase who couldn't give a **** about serious GTWS events. For Daily races we need payouts increased substantially (particularly top 3 finishes) to encourage more players. GTWS is the one area where PD does deliver....unfortunately this is only of real interest to elite online players.

On the single-player front every event needs payouts increased by a factor of 3x or more. The handful of grinding events that deliver 700k+ need to be the norm in terms of payout per mile driven. At the drop of a hat you would see the playerbase re-energised and incentivised to try the great content PD have actually put in the game!

It goes without saying Endurance races are long overdue. How difficult is it to add a selection of 2hr, 6hr, 12hr, 24hr events? I'm not even overly concerned if the AI is as dumb as ever. There's satisfaction in simply completing such demanding events. Better still if the credit reward makes it worthwhile.

Missions are another area that's so easy to expand & improve. Many of the events are highly enjoyable and repeatable with different cars. But with only one payout how many people are going to dedicate 1hr to a tough Mission once they've completed it? Why aren't there a slew of drift events, drag races, even basic cone challenges with different types of cars? So much of this is not about adding new content (cars & tracks), or even new ideas. It's about expanding upon what's already in GT7. Likewise, where are the traditional themed GT series for Gr.1, Gr.2, Gr.3, Gr.4, Super Formula, Classic F1 and so on? Where are the single-make series for MX-5's, 4WD cars, Classics etc. Why doesn't every track have one of each of these races?

Oh, and where is GT Sophy? One aspect of the game that received almost universal praise. We had a taste of it, then it was swept away back into development hell. Once again, is it really so difficult to keep those events for new (and old) players to try? Or even switch up the cars each each moth to provide a new challenge? All the while Sony AI can work on a more sophisticated version that can be implemented game wide.

Sorry if you think that's doom posting. I think it shows Kaz, PD, and those associated with GT7 are fundamentally out of touch with their playerbase. It's all in stark contrast to the passion shown by the iRacing team who are hitting all the right beats, every new announcement being greeted with approval.

This is crunch time for PD & GT7. The slow summer months can be frustrating, but if they carry on in this vein for the ever important Q4 period, on the back of a major movie, and with high profile rivals on other platforms. Then I will absolutely stand by my belief PD have already moved their efforts to GT8. TBH, I wouldn't blame them as PS4 is now a dead platform, it's wasted resources supporting it, and Sony's focus as a business is PS5(Pro). But I'd like them to communicate their plans like other devs routinely do. Rather than dedicating their social media channels to being Fraga's PR outlet and telling us how great the best 1% of players are.

Frankly, most GT player don't care about this stuff. They want a traditional, single-player focused, Gran Turismo, with the focus on the passion for cars & car culture.

Can we actually just acknowledge that the Spa 1hr race(literally GT3 porn) is the least spoken about money grind race… why?
Because people don’t want to admit that endurance races take more time than what they’d spend playing the game, it’s quite clear that they don’t have the patience to race for that long.
Why would we think 2-24hour races actually be well received and or used…

For many, it’s always crunch time. Before every update it’s crunch time. It’s been crunch time since GT5.

Me, personally, I don’t care. It’s a thing, like anything people buy, that is someone else’s thing and a thing that consumers have chosen to buy and invest emotion and time in. Not mentioning any people that have chosen to move on. We’ve been through all these discussions about complaining and making it known how people feel about this franchise. Complaining to show how much the series means and wanting it to be as good as it was during the first four games.

People that play this game singularly or as part of a greater collection of games in their library. People who don’t have the game, but want to jump back in, hoping to have the switch flipped to spend their money.

Yeah, I can see why people have been testing the fastest way to make credits in an hour, but if Majority of people only have one whole hour to play(and not one hour one second) the Spa race is that race. Love that event.

I can agree that if they just popped in here, read so comments, complaints and critiques then held a poll they could improve the game. I’m confident I could improve it if I said, change this, fix that and a lot of people would be happy with the changes and that doesn’t even include content. Just oversights on their part in the game.

Let’s face it though, games these days are released early, tested on the public, fixed and patched after the fact. Would be nice if a company said, here’s a game, it’s done, we’ve put our all into it, there’s not going to be much need for changes.

If they are listening to people, who’s the squeaky wheel getting the grease? I’d like a go at it hahahaha

Because proper and longer endurance races would not need insanely exaggerated tyre wear rates. Races with 10X and figures like that are crap. With actual endurance you would have fuel and tyre wear at 1X/1X. Real.

And I will continue to doubt that this is in anyway fact, which is my main point. PD have never, and sadly will never, Operate like anyone else and to expecting them to is a continually fruitless effort no matter how much anyone wants it to happen or how much it would help. PD being godawful slow in general is typical PD no matter what decade we are in, which is why I am not at all convinced PD is done with GT7 in only the second year of this game's release.

Yeah I find it boring too, I mean yes the 1M prize is worth the trouble, but it's so time consuming to do, they should have tripled the rewards especially for that long of a race. They add the same variety of events every update.

GTS was the first Gran Turismo released into a mature digital market where monthly DLC was the norm. Although there are numerous reasons why earlier updates where pretty substantial, it soon became clear when PD where winding things down. This was long before they made any such statements.

GT7 already has the vibe of a title being wound down. Heading into the September update we've had one track released in 8 months, a missed month or two, and bare minimum efforts put into events & features. As I say, I've given PD the benefit of the doubt over the summer. If it continues it will become a well established trend.

I don't think it's at all unreasonable to expect a new track (hopefully the long rumoured Montreal), a handful of race cars (contempory and/or classics), and some sign they're addressing the lack of events. Be it (much more) of the same, increase payments or Endurance races.

I genuinely don't think you have any idea what you are talking about.

The entire quote of

is absolute nonsense. GTS received the notice that updates would be slowing down in February of 2020.
In only the months preceding that notice, GTS received the following content updates:

1694392773255.png

If you need me to count it out for you, that is 35 new cars, 3 new tracks, the Lewis Hamilton DLC, a bunch of weather updates and a ton of new events. And if you can tell that simply based on there being no content update in one month over Christmas (there was a normal update though), then my goodness you should consider a job in clairvoyancy.

So.. could you point out where it was clear they were winding down. No? Oh, because it never happened and you're making things up as usual. Surprise surprise.

In all fairness I thought they’ve been winding down. Maybe that’s because it’s just content 3-4 cars usually only 1 car I’m interested in (not their fault) and fixes for things I wasn’t even aware of. No new track for 8 months. If I were them I’d be aiming for 4 cars each month, 1 track every three months, in each update address some people’s concerns. Here’s some things I feel most people would agree need attention.

Why can’t we share tunes yet?
Why can’t we see what tires our cars currently have on in our garage?
Why is the timer right in our line of sight driving karts in cockpit view?
Why can’t the host kick people during race without having to sacrifice their own race?
Why do we have to wait for Sophy for better AI when PC1 and PC2 and ACC have much better AI without “Sophy”?
Why has it been 8 months since we got a new track in an update?
Why haven't they equaled out all race payouts so we can enjoy the entire game instead of having to resort to the big four?
Why can’t we customize the HUD?
Why can I see tire temps in SimHub dashboard but not in game?
Why can’t a lobby migrate hosts? Today I had to take off, we had 13-14 people in the room, I cancel all those players are dropped and might not find each other again.

But it doesn't matter since the majority of the player base doesn't want to do long races regardless of the payout. Having to pit more frequently doesn't discourage players. Only an extremely small portion of players are calling for super-long races.
