Well the option can be exercised by him. I'm half expecting him to announce he's exercised that option.

Or we're being blindsided and are looking at the wrong driver. Maybe somewhere in the background of the paddock it's common knowledge that Hamilton is retiring at the end of the season and Lando Norris is going to Mercedes, Ricciardo stays at Mclaren and Piastri actually replaces Norris.
