It's all so weird with Briatore beeing Doohans manager. Seems Flavio cashed out getting Jack a F1 seat and is now finished with his client.

Will be very interesting if these long lasting rumours around selling Alpine F1 completely will turn into reality in '26 or later. Let's not forget 24 per cent of the team's shares were sold to an investment group including Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments in June 2023.

List of notable Alpine investors under Otro Capital

  • Ryan Reynolds - Canadian and American actor, producer and businessman
  • Rob McElhenney - American actor, writer, producer, podcaster and businessman
  • Michael B. Jordan - American actor and businessman
  • Rory McIlroy - Four-time golf major winner
  • Patrick Mahomes - 3x NFL Super Bowl champion
  • Travis Kelce - 3x NFL Super Bowl champion
  • Anthony Joshua - Two-time former unified world heavyweight champion
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold - Champions League and Premier League winner with Liverpool
  • Juan Mata - 2010 World Cup winner with Spain and former Chelsea and Manchester United star
  • Alexander Zverev - Tennis star

I wouldn't be surprised if Flavio also owns parts of the team as compensation for his efforts and is now only interested making it more valueable.

Wow that's a lot of notable people... What the hell are Alpine trying to achieve?

Makes more sense to have an investment fund which will provide more stable funding rather than rely on corporate funding which could be pulled at the next management change, or just not be paid at all if the company is dodgy. Especially when you consider the history of motorsports sponsorship is full of scumbags who never paid teams what they promised.

Also keep in mind that people who put their money into investment funds may not know or even care where the money is going specifically, so long as they're getting returns on their investment. So it's very likely all those actors and football stars aren't aware that at least some of their money is funding a middling Formula 1 team.
