Another reason I absolutely hate this playoff system: more potential shenanigans. Bubba may have deliberately let Bell pass and then Ball did a Chastain. Then you have two Chevys behind Byron going side by side but made no real effort to pass.

Just dsq both of them and have the 12, 22 and 45 race for the title. Warn drivers that these types of moves will result in heavy fines and suspensions.

Convenient tyre issues for the 23, wall riding 20. That's not gonna stick.
And it doesn't. Byron's in.

Edit.

Bell's face says it all. He can't lie for ****.

Joey Logano, Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney, and William Byron will race for a championship in Phoenix!!

Bell didn't need to ride the wall, he was getting the place anyway with the race manipulation from Toyota/Bubba.

Byron doesn't deserve to be in the final 4 either with the manipulation from Dillon and Chastain to help their Chevrolet mate, this should be a 3 car finale.

I'm sure we'll here more on this throughout the week...

At least the Chevrolets made it look like they were racing the 24. Ish. The Toyotas were too obvious in their devious schemes.

This is probably the dumbest playoffs since inception. From
Logano being eliminated to in and the Toyotagate/Chevygate we witnessed today. This format forces people to make terrible decisions.

I see that more as Bowman being in to eliminated as it was their (Hendrick's) fault and Logano didn't do anything untoward.

Just a little nit pick I have with that scenario. ;)

Yeah, that was poor form all round. At least Ryan Blaney made it in legitimately today.

I love how for like five seconds during the waiting period, they attempted to cut to Larson who literally went

"Peace out, I'll see ya'll at Indy in May. 🤞"

The way I view it is that both sides had performed race manipulative moves. Byron with both the 1 and the 3 not passing him, and Bell for Wallace slowing down to let the 20 pass him. Those two actions offset. However, Bell then riding the wall (debatable if it was a true wall-ride from first glance but I thought I saw someone mention he accelerated while still on the wall) gives the 20 team a second action that tips the scales against him. He probably didn't need to ride the wall either, as he wasn't in danger of losing a spot once he got by the 23.

I'm just surprised HenCAR didn't "find" "something" so they could DQ the 45.

Wow.

Allgaier has been snakebit for so long, and boy, it seemed like it was going to fall apart yet again. Primary car destroyed by something out of his control. Then in the race, great climb from the rear and then contact forces him to pit, which led to two big errors. They were so far out of it a lap down, but they fought back to where they had one last sliver of hope. Somehow, the unlucky man who never catches a break needed that lucky caution.

And finally, finally, when he needed it the most, something went his way. But he still had to to fight his way back. And he did. But then a late caution and a slow pit stop meant he had to do it one last time. It got scruffy, and he didn't win the race, but he didn't need to. He did enough.

I still think this playoff system stinks and I have trouble recognizing any champions since 2003. But Justin Allgaier is a champion in my eyes.

I don't follow the Busch Xfinity Series as closely as Cup, but I did watch the full race last night. Nice to see Allgaier finally get his championship. And it seems everyone was happy for him on the grid. Herbst did get a little used up on the restart by Allgaier, so I don't think he minded leaving room for him to pass and get the win. 2nd was good enough.

The way Herbst had positioned his car going into that final corner he would have shipped Allgaier if Allgaier didn't back out like he did. He even said he would have in his post race press conference.

Herbst would not have heard the end of it had he crashed Allgaier to win the race.

Per Adam Stern, FedEx will not be returning to Joe Gibbs Racing to sponsor Denny Hamlin next year. Ending a partnership that’s been in place since 2005.

Caution out for Ty Gibbs. Slapped the wall off of 4 then straddled the transition in the middle of the dogleg which turned his car hard right into the outside wall.
