2024 Touring Car Thread - BTCC, TCR, and more.Touring Cars

Just hope everyone will be that bit wiser about track limits for the time being.
There's plenty of oppotunity for track limit excursions there, probably more so then any other BTCC-used circuit that i can think of - it's the nature of a narrow track. I suspect either the rules are relaxed a little or there's going to be a lot of penalties handed out this weekend.

After what happened with Ricky Collard at Brands Hatch, lessons have to have been learned by all concerned, there's no excuses.

At this rate, Sutton's going to run away with the 2023 British Touring Car title if today's meeting at Snetterton was anything to go by.

His winning the last two races at Brands Hatch and the first two races at Snetterton makes him the first driver to win 4 BTCC races in a row since Alain Menu won the first 4 races in 1997.

There's still a long way to go yet, and those NAPA Ford's look ominous. Motorbase have really hooked those cars up this year. Aside from the ride height failure, it was a great recovery by Cammish. Sets him up well for the year, but Sutton is in impressive form again. Some demon drives again yesterday from him. Tingram also consistent as ever.

WSR really did shoot themselves in the foot with that tyre strategy, odd given a team of that stature is usually sound with tactical moves. With Thruxton next, can Cook continue his winning streak there? One Motorsport seem to be a mixed back at the moment with their pace. Hopefully those Honda's come on strong.

It's certainly taken Motorbase long enough. Consistency may be the other drivers' only way of keeping Sutton from running away with the championship as things currently stand.

The combination of that NAPA Focus and Sutton is continue to look imperious, 2nd pole on the bounce. And by a sizeable margin too. Ingram P2, and Thruxton King Cook is there or thereabouts in 3rd.

The Astra's looking good around Thruxton, considering it's the oldest chassis on the grid. Very solid laps from Watson and Double 👍.

Those point deductions for excessive engine changes in the BTCC are really harsh sometimes. Nick Halstead's going to end up like Hyla Breese in 2002 at the rate he's going.

Looks like this is definitely Motorbase's year!
About time, they have put a lot of work in to get there, really suffered a few years back so it's great to see them up there. Sad to see people being critical of the series for Ash Sutton being successful with the amount of work Motorbase have put in.

About time indeed! They've been at it since 2006! They came close with Mat Jackson more than once and Tom Chilton came close once but it's never come together for them. It's not much different from Red Bull and Max Verstappen in F1.

Great day for BMW and WSR as Jake Hill took 2 wins in race 1 and 2 with Turkington taking race 3 at Oulton Park after starting the day dead last after being DSQ'd from qualifying. Sutton ended up in the wall at the start of race 3 to no score, ending Napa Racings 'win at every event' start.

It was an unnecessary risk for Sutton to make in that last race. Uncharacteristic for this current version of Sutton to make that error, given its been something he's worked on in recent years. It was a gap that wasn't ever there. Though he still has that championship lead, but it's been cut massively.

But as ever it's Mr Consistent Tingram himself. There or thereabouts as ever to bag those points. Hill wasn't far off making it 3 in a day, he's the biggest gainer in the standings after Oulton. Now we have to wait what seems like an age with the summer break until Croft...

No details have so far been released by the STCC organisation of which model the teaser interior image features, while the teams of the championship have confirmed the following models:

BMW i4
CUPRA Born
Tesla Model 3
Volkswagen ID.3

The BTCC is racing on the Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit for the first time since 2002 and already Dan Cammish is forced to withdraw after an accident resembling the one James Thompson had at Brands Hatch in 2000.

Ash Sutton is on pole for Race 1.

The standards of procedures involving race stewards at BTCC meetings are going to need some serious reviewing before too long. Ingram fighting Hill over 2nd in Race 1 led to a penalty for the defending Champion and the commentators certainly aren't happy about that. This is motor racing after all and these things happen.

In the meantime, Dan Lloyd on Reverse Grid Pole for Race 3.

Was a completely baffling decision to penalise Ingram. Hard fighting, door to door, tough conditions, what do they want to do? This isn't F1..

They are going to ruin the very spirit of Motor Racing as we know it if they keep making decisions like that.
