And the message probably did reach the people who need to see it the most, young people who don't pay attention to squat. But TikTok being so popular with them is merely a consequence of its addictive design, as those kids are doing anything in their power to escape this dreadful reality we live in. Perhaps we just shold let it all play out.
Nope, it actually got in the news and put Britt on the defensive, hence all the MSM links regarding Katz's video in the previous posts. I wish he'd put it on YouTube but at least it achieved its purpose instead of languishing in obscurity.

Earlier I asked about changing registration to vote against Trump in the GOP primary. The PA primary is scheduled on April 23 but there are only Trump and Biden on the ballot, I guess I will skip my first presidential primary.
Like Joey said, google your county's board of elections. They'll have a website with all the info you need about voting, including looking up your voter registration and polling place, the schedule for early voting, and should have your sample ballot available to review. I say "your" sample ballot because it will be exactly what you see based on your address/registration/location etc. I just reviewed mine over the weekend, looked up all the candidates and issues, wrote down my choices, and went to my county building today to vote early.

For example, I chose to vote on the Democratic ticket for my Ohio federal representative, Ohio state senator, state representative, county commissioner, a local school district seat, a municipal income tax renewal, etc etc.

You should look at a sample ballot to see if there's anything else you might need to vote for on it. During the primary for me, we have a school mileage up for a vote as well. Sometimes there are other elected officials going through the primary process, so it's worth checking it out.

Thank you for reminding me about it, gonna check it out!!

Were you deeply involved in politics when you were a teenager? Most people aren't, and for good reason. They've got better things to be doing with their lives. "Don't pay attention to squat" isn't correct, they're just not paying attention to the things that you want them to. Given the dribble that a lot of people who DO pay attention to politics come up with, I'm hard pressed to say that they're doing it wrong.

You'd think that growing up with Grandpa Simpson would have made people wary about going all "kids these days", but maybe not.

I don't know, I think you're giving people too much credit. Believers of QAnon vote, people who think the government is injecting us with microchips in COVID vaccines vote, people who think Donald Trump won the election in 2020 vote. While the right to have a free election is a great right to have, there are negatives to it, which is that some of the absolute stupidest people can and do vote. Or better yet, think of all the people who think being banned from Xitter violates their freedom of speech; this is the understanding that a not-so-insignificant amount of voters have of the Constitution.

All I'm saying is that voters should understand this, and I hope a major party like the Democrats does, too.

As for people being too stupid for having a functioning government, you've seen our government right? We have people like MTG who get support and voted in. Honestly, I'm surprised anything gets done most of the time.

Those are the real reasons that I think are less palatable than blaming gas prices. I think people who think the government is injecting us with microchips, and QAnon, and election deniers, and Xitter freedom of speech, and all of that, are people who find it easier to blame gas prices.

When gas prices are low under a democrat, they don't change their tune and start supporting democrats. They just moan about something else stupid, like eating ice cream or wearing a tan suit.

Deeply? No. But as soon as I was able to vote I did, and I looked up my choices before I did. Maybe only us logical anti-social nerds who didn't get girls did it that way but I've been doing it ever since, and I'm not scared to publicly shame people who don't do it that way. Kids can either learn it the easy way while they're young, or learn it the hard way when they're older, doesn't matter to me as long as they figure it out eventually. Little tolerance for people who never figure out how to be adults.

The d-bags driving around with the giant american flag pretending to be patriotic, people like @sturk0167, who think they support America and American values, are the ones who you'd think would be the very first to argue that folks who just vote for the best meal ticket (which again, of the two is Biden), are not patriots and don't deserve their government. But those same d-bags don't understand America, they think voting for the best meal ticket somehow IS American patriotism. That's just stupidity really, not patriotism, myopia. Sheeplike.

Jon Stewart doing this same exact rant - that republicans need to drop the patriotism facade. He did a better job and is funnier than I am though.

They call themselves real Americans for the same reason Trump called his platform Truth Social. Flattery to deceive. These guys read 1984 and saw it as a manual, instead of as a cautionary tale.

Stewart has come back hitting hard. The man knows how to cut through the ******** better than anyone, and I think has genuinely deep insight into what makes us, America, tick. I enjoyed Trevor Noah's daily show - I found it entertaining and funny. But as sharp and just naturally charismatic and funny as Trevor is, I don't think he ever delivered the level incisiveness that Jon Stewart seems to have been born to express. We need it now, more than ever.

It establishes a permission structure that says that — whatever their complaints about Joe Biden — Donald Trump is too dangerous and too unhinged to ever be president again. Who better to make this case than the voters who used to support him?

Pence announces he will not endorse Trump.
  • Former Vice President Mike Pence said Friday that he would not endorse Donald Trump for president in the 2024 election.
  • Trump “is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years,” Pence said on Fox News.
  • The startling announcement came as Trump secured enough Republican delegates this week to clinch the party’s nomination.

It should be very telling to folks when a Vice President chooses not to endorse the person he served directly under. Given that Pence had to be ready to assume control of the country under any circumstance, he had to be privy to almost everything Trump was doing in the nation's interest, so he definitely knows Trump better than most.

Obviously, any sane person knows why Pence won't endorse him, but I'd like to hope this starts a chain reaction of sorts & resonates with Republican voters who aren't Cult 45.

I would expect most of his former cabinet would not endorse him...but that's probably wishful thinking.

Pence has consistently shown spine as compared to say McConnell or Graham.

Unfortunately his objections stem partly from Diaper Don not being sufficiently anti-abortion if I'm reading that "sanctity of human life" quote in the article correctly.

I think it might just be time to revisit Tony Schwartz's analysis of Donald Trump and his predictions of Trump's post-election behavior. As you watch this remember, he was speaking in 2016...

Trump is threatening civil war if he doesn’t get his way
I mean, maybe it's time....

Okay, so I'm not actually advocating for a civil war, but let's be real, there's potentially 70 million+ people in the USA that want what Trump is selling. How do you ever get back to 'normal' without some kind of seismic course change? Trump appears to have a lot of support, and he's currently the bookies favourite, it's not like the party will get a reality check by being absolutely wiped out at the polls, and it's not like the Trump supporter base will just hold up their hands, say "oh well" and go home if Biden wins.

I'm just wondering if perhaps it needs to get worse before it can get better.

So I'm not going to use potentially lethal force absent a legitimate threat of imminent physical harm, but I do have concerns that I'd actually be capable of that particular action in such a situation. I mean...do I have it in me? I find myself increasingly less concerned about my capacity to neutralize such a threat posed by a red hat.

This could go virtually anywhere, but:

Summary: Claimed multi-billionaire can't secure mere half-billion funding for a stay on paying his fraud fine while he appeals it, is now required to pay the whole lot.

If he's still going by November and indeed January and somehow gets back in, what (else) do you think he's going to sell to get that kind of money?

New York. He will sell New York to China and take that money to secure his... hey wait, New York is no longer part of the US so he has immunity!

I think things change when your family is threatened. Under most circumstances, it would be hard to pull the trigger, but if my family was in danger, I wouldn't think twice. It would likely screw me up for life but I'd rather have a mental breakdown from killing threatening person over having a mental breakdown because my family is dead.

I like to think I wouldn't think twice but I just don't know. I hope to never find out.
