Last night race was, well, what would you expect, a crash loaded race. To my surprise, much better than what I anticipated. T1 as usual, but T10???? The worst demolition derby in the Championship so far. I was lucky to make it alive out T1 but got cut in the T10 disaster. I hit a loose wheel damaging my car (Respawn #1); after serving a time penalty, I got hit from the back, severely damaging my rear wing and tires (Respawn #2); After serving 2nd. penalty, boommmmm!!!! Again someone nailed my rear (Respawn #3). All of this happened on the 1st. lap, before T11 (No hate).

Over all, I had fun. I was not fast a all, just fast enough to keep people behind until either I crashed or my chaser crashed. Thank God Melbourne is over. I still have the Hockenheim and Nürburgring nightmares to go through. Imola is one of my favorite circuits, it is a lot of fun. Looking forward for it.-

Crap, I definitely won't be able to make it next sunday at any stage. The only time I could would be friday any time or saturday night (haven't I such a great social life?) but I doubt many people would want to or be able for that, but please check incase cos it's annoying having to miss 2 out of the first 4 races.

A couple of things I forgot to mention about the PAL race; I'd like to say a thank you to the drivers that I lapped, they were all very cautious, as was I, in avoiding an accident. Especially Appie who I think I passed twice due to the way our pit stops worked out, I appreciated the wide berth everyone gave me. Btw Appie what happened to you during the race? You qualified a respectable 5th but ended up down in 7th.

I imagine Imola turn 1 being a complete disaster, it has one of the fastest and narrowest turn 1's in F1. People are gonna have to be extra careful on that one.

I’m sure Shaggy meant T2 (Traguardo) in his comment.

This is what we can do to solve the problem:

Two cars coming to T2 in a wheel to wheel battle, the car on the left (remember Imola is race counter clockwise) have the right to take the inside corner, must painfully consider going to the outside on T3. On the other hand, the car going on the outside on T2 have the right to take the inside corner on T3. In theory, if done respectfully and correctly, both drivers will come out of the corner as they came in. Braking will determine who will come out ahead.

The fact that the driver next to you disappear from your peripheral view doesn’t mean you passed it. It means that you are getting the benefit of inside cornering. The other driver will have the same benefit on the next corner.

This racing logic will help to avoid spoiling someone else’s race.

Updated tables, there are too many changes up and down both tables for both regions that I can't sum it up right now, lol.

Edit: Also, I need the PAL drivers to sort out when is best for the next race, apparently a lot of you can't do Sunday night, so is Saturday night better for the majority??

I can make it on Sunday, but because many can't then I'd be happy with Saturday. And maybe with the same time as well. I can't do any earlier than 9PM because I have to host the first race of the Grid Online Championship.

For NTSC it looks like Williams is going to be the team to beat in the early going. Close battle currently between Aguri, Shaguar, and Lofus. However, with a lot of races in front of us anything can happen. I am really looking forward to the Imola Race.

Ardius- I was thinking, instead of running a GP2 series, why not just have more teams? Does it get too crowded?

F1:CE is limited to 11 players online, we could run a 6th, one man team, but I thought it would be better and more productive to start another new series to keep the interest flowing, it seems to have been moderately successful though its lacking drivers right now.
Another option is to run two lobbies, but I don't feel I could run a fair system for this without doing it similar to how Hun recently attempted with Ferrari Challenge - where we have some "qualifying" races and then a main race, even then, I don't think its as fair and straight forward as the current system.

If we could have 22 players online, I would happily accomodate more teams, unfortunately we can't.

Ah I had no idea. Well then yea the current system is best then. 👍

Saturday should be fine for me too, not 100% sure but I should be there. The normal time is fine as well.

That's good to hear, hopefully all will be avaliable that time and date. If it's anytime before 9pm though I can't make it, I have to host the first race of the Grid Online Championship.

are you guys going to be doing a 3rd season for NTSC?

I always wanted to do a online league for this game...

The 2nd season is just getting started. The GP2 league is only two races in and we're looking for drivers! Check it out here.

Well, that's a little unfair I must say, the date is changed because some people couldn't make it on the proper race date, tut tut.
I guess i'll have to try and do it while i'm at my friend's bday party, although i'm not happy about it. Not at all.

The date hasn't been changed, it's been mooted around for the possibilities of changing the date. Given we have a set normal date for a Sunday night @ 10PM that should be our set time. However, in certain circumstances I see no problems with a change once every blue moon. Though to do this I think we need to do a proper head count within the PAL clan of who wants to do which day. I suggest we do a vote, with PAL members PM'ing their choice to either the organiser (Ardius) or me, I'll do it if need be. I do think we need to be accurate with the opinion though.

I think rather than voting, for a time and date, we need to seek a time and date for which we are all available.

I can make it; anytime wednesday and thursday or friday latest race start at 7, or sunday latest race start at 7 also.
Monday I am also free.

Hey Ardius, my point total should be 9 not 8.

Woops, sorry about that, I've fixed it on the table on my comp, so the mistake won't be continued when I next update the tables.
I'm not going to re-update them right now because imageshack is a pain in the arse for me to upload reliably.

Well, I don't know if I will be available to run a 3rd season so I'm not so sure about that one, but I probably will.
But, like Suede said, you can still take part in this one by doing well in the GP2 Championship 👍

I agree, I was actually going to do this as a PM and see what the consensus is. I probably will in a bit.

Unfair? No, "unfair" would be telling everyone that they have to race on a specific day even if the majority can't make it. This isn't about who is more reliable at turning up on a specific day, this is about organising races that see the largest turn out and hence more fun.
Yes, I will try to stick to a specific day schedule to make it easier for most to plan in advance the free time needed, but otherwise I will move the date based on how many people can turn up.

Saturday night is good for me as well :) What else would an old man like me be doing at that time of night

I can't make saturday, unless it is alot earlier then our usual 10pm slot.

6pm I could do.

I'm the same, I should be available alright but I can't know for certain as it is a saturday night after all.

I'm happy with which ever night. Saturday would be nice though, so I can get a full FM clan in!

Ok, so:
People that can make it on Sunday (at 10pm): 5
People that can make it on Saturday (at 10pm): 5

It seems it doesn't matter which day we hold it on, Shaggy Alonso can't make it on Sunday and Kakundoo can't make it Saturday (I don't want you to be playing this at someone's birthday, thats just 👎 ).
How do people feel about moving it earlier? I'm guessing its not possible for most, because last season it wasn't.

I'll be sending a PM around later today with several options, and people can just reply telling me which days/times they can and can't do. Failing that, it will go ahead Sunday, because it seems most of us can make it anyway.

I also want to make it clear to everyone that you shouldn't be treating this (or any other game) > real life. I know most of you already know this, but when I read what Kakundoo posted it made me a bit worried, you shouldn't be moving aside things you are doing in real life just to play this, this is only here for when you aren't doing anything. We're here to have fun, not to fill the tables with results, if people are taking this that seriously, I am tempted to ask them to leave, just because its not healthy.

I PMed Ardius with what times i'm available all weekend including friday. I think we should all do this rather than just stating a preference.

As stated (I think) I'm free at any point over the weekend. I've got lots of assignments to do and I'll use this as one of my breaks. If we make it earlier on a Sunday, preferably 5/6PM.

Ardius, don't forget to add the PSN usernames for the Team Aguri drivers. :)
RACECAR - GTP_RACECAR
CAMikaze - GTP_CAMikaze
;)

Any decision on what time this weeks race is? I sadly wont have time this Sunday at all, but any time earlier this week would be fine. But as Kakundoo said the arranged time should not be changed for only a few. I said at the beginning of the season that I wouldnt act as 2nd organiser to Ardius nor become teammates with either Appie or Shaggy despite really wanting to because I knew that I'd not be able to make many races this season, so I fully understand if you all wish to go ahead with a time on Sunday that suits the majority. 👍

Hmm, well so far we have 3 people saying they can't do Sunday and 1 person saying he can't do anything later than 7.00pm on any day.

I don't want to see the grid massively diminished, but I don't want to mess with the schedules too much, so I've decided to go ahead with keeping to the standard race time. I think keeping it structured and standardised helps people know if they can or can't make it and the current time seems to be generally acceptable for most.

I don't think 3 people is enough to warrant changing the time for everyone else and its not exactly a majority vote either.
So, on we go with Sunday at 10.

No probs Ardius, I just hope Appie can make a good showing for Jordan in my absence 👍

Quick question for fishfash, what is the significance of changing traction control throughout the course of a lap? I'm assuming that you want full TC exiting a corner and low TC when you're getting up to speed? If this is what you do I have tried it and I couldn't notice any difference, or if there was any difference the effect was negligible as the distraction of having to do it probably offset any benefits it brought. Am I doing it all wrong? How much does it help you?

If anyone is interested I've been doing 1'20s in Time Trial. Fairly rough laps, Imola feels different on F1:CE to F1'06.
