Yep that was a thanks for letting me by. It's shame we can't give the thumbs up like they do sometimes in real F1

With regards to the lap bug, there isn't really much we can do.

The Ardius solution of letting cars unlap themselves is the only way of getting round the problem, but I can't see it working as everyone at that time would need to be aware that a glitch has happened. You would need some sort of voice support or signal. Even an 11th driver waiting in the lobby and for that person to check the circuit map and then perhaps late join. That person late joining could be the signal used to inform everyone on the grid that a glitch has happened.

It's too complicated I think we should just carry on and as Ardius mentioned make a note of who is in front and behind by looking on the map 👍

I was actually meaning to make it a rule for the race, because its almost 100% likely to happen, so the rule should be everyone waits regardless and checks to see if there are lapped cars, if not, then the race goes ahead. The problem is making sure all drivers realise.
I think this is worth practicing with to see if it works, but I agree that when it comes to the actual race, its best just hoping everyone remembers where they are.

I'm available anytime so I'm fine with whatever date you guys got.

I say that I agree with the unlapping method, but I suggest we do it without the AI on at all. That way, it'll eliminate the AI and we can unlap ourselfs without the AI in the way.

In our actual race there will be NO AI cars that is if we have 10 drivers as usual. We always setup the race for 10 cars only.

!! I've been setting the grid at 10, not 22!

Also, how are we going to know if someone is lapped or not? And I think that it would be fair to put the AI on Easy.

Thats the problem. the drivers at the front and rear of the grid will notice, because suddenly the guy who should be pole is ranked behind them on the driver positions table-thingy on the left hand side of the screen but everyone else will probably not notice (as the driver position thingy only displays the driver in front and behind you, except when you're in last or 1st place).

You're just going to have to all remember to read the qualifying results carefully and work out if the guy trying to pass you is an unfarily lapped car or not. (if we don't try to allow themselves to un-lap)

I think the best thing to do is SKIP this race. What does everyone else think? In another leauge I was in there was so much confusion about it that we just threw out the results and moved on.

Its a shame because its a really good track but I kind of agree with you here.

However, I think its worth us trying out solutions before we give up. I think we should still run the race regardless and see if we can salvage the results.

Erm, bit extreme I think.

Ardius, how was it handled last season?

Well, last time we didn't have as many players, only 5 or so of us. I think fishfash warned me about it before hand and I just made a note of it when he was unfairly placed a lap down and we raced as normal.
It was quite obvious with fishfash that he was ahead of me, lol, I don't think I'd ever had the capacity to somehow be ahead of him, especially back then when I was still learning the tracks (though I did adapt to the Nurburgring quite well).

So why would we skip this race then? Is the Nurburing the worst place to race in terms of the being a lap down glitch?

And with the fishfash thing, it'd be extra great to start him a lap down and have a Daihatsu Midget F1!!!!

The only reason for skipping is just because the bug makes it very confusing for all players, and its 100% likely to happen at this track.
But having said that, there are other tracks where it does sometimes happen (like a week or so ago at Melbourne). We can't just skip all of the tracks just beacuse there might be a glitch.

I think we should go ahead and race and we should also try seeing if the un-lapping idea works or not. If we can settle on the race results, then it should be ok.

I dont think we should skip this race, if everyone keeps an eye on the dots flying round the map they should have a fair idea of who's who and where they are.

Whats this un-lapping idea, I cant find it in all the posts. :dunce:

Yeah, Nurburgring always has this problem, the only way around it is to ask everyone to try and keep track of their position, at the very least try and remember the drivers in front and behind.
It becomes more confusing if several players have this problem. The only way I can think of solving this is to discount the 1st lap and basically restart the race, allowing the unfairly-lapped cars to unlap themselves but I don't know how practical this will be, we should probably practice this first and see how it works out.

There ya go genius ;)

Each driver's full race time could be used to determine final positions. Those who started one lap down must find-out their average lap time and subtract it from the time they achieved during the race (since they will be running one extra lap to complete the race, the extra lap must be deducted).

For instance:
The lapped driver's time for 20 laps (race distance) + 1 (one lap down) time was: 25:30.000. This means that he was driving an average of : 1:12.000 mins/lap. His final full race time will be:

25:30.000 (21 laps)
1:12.000 (average lap time)
---------------------------------
24:18.000 (20 Laps)

The resulted time will be compared to the other driver’s time to determined each position.

This is just an idea.-

Any more NTSC opinions on Super Bowl Sundays race ?

Sun. Feb. 1st. do we race or do we move it up a day or back a day ? As said before I am out on the 1st

There all good ideas, but do you guys not think you are coming up with a solution to fix a problem that doesnt really exist?? I dont remember any incidence from last season to warrant such a system, and even in the last race I dont think anyone was really confused or put out by the glitch.

The only confusion arose because Shaggy actually beat fishfash, which even without the glitch would have been hard to believe! :P

Well, the issue isn't so bad with PAL and 5 or so players. But with a 10 player grid it will make things confusing not only on results, but also for drivers trying to lap other drivers.

I've already expressed this to a few people, but I'll gladly repeat myself. I'd definately enjoy racing on Sunday, anytime before or after the Superbowl. I'd also like to race the Nurburgring, glitch or not. Just my two cents. :)👍

Not been on for a couple of days since my pc has packed up, so im on my ps3 browser.
Im sure i can remember where i place and who is around me as im always looking at the circuit map.
I would be available for a practice race saturday afternoon also, what lap times are PAL racers getting in any practice you've done?

I did a practise race last night and my last lap out of the 20 was a high 1:26. That's the best i've managed so far unless you count your outlaps which are actually counted as a lap time so they will almost always be faster.

Infact that should put an interesting twist on who gets the fastest lap as you can only go for fastest lap on an outlap i.e. only two stabs at it. Almost certainly fishfash will still get it but if he does scruffy outlaps, the fastest lap might be up for grabs for someone else.

I vote for Friday Jan 30 or Monday Feb 2. I personally have a ritual that takes place during the whole super bowl weekend. Saturday and Sunday are impossible for me. Friday or Monday are much better options.-
