I uploaded it to my albums too, but here it is:

Gutted I missed the race, sounds like you all had a good one, I find I'm fairly consistent at Imola as well.
Ah well onto the Nurburgring.

I'll be there next weekend too, my exams are over for awhile anyway so I should be able to make the next two races at least. After that though, I'm not sure, this is the way it stands as of now; my PS3 is at home, were I have broadband and the ports all opened, when I go back to college full time in a few weeks I'll probably bring up the PS but the ports necessary for the PSN arent opened sadly, I have tried and am trying to get them opened but no luck yet, I'll let you all know if the situation changes though. 👍

Great race!
1. Fishfash
2 Kakundoo
3. Appie
4. Sureshot
5. Pepsi

Fastest Lap - Fishfash

@ FastDuck,Yeah just remember that IF your ever behind me again. I DO brake a little early. Nice job avoiding contact Duck, after that I let off on main straight to let you GO. :nervous: LOL Z its OK fellow it happens some times in this game.

Will update the tables by the end of tonight.

If the organizers don't mind, I'd like to do this for the rest of the races just to give everyone in their respective regions good refference and a good chance to practice what they've learned.

No, its fine, I look forward to the next ones!

I love it when fishfash has a bad race, I really do...

Ah well onto the Nurburgring.

I'll almost certainly be able to make this sunday's race. Well done to Appie for getting a decent points haul in my absence 👍

Yeah, sorry you couldn't make it, but I didn't feel moving the date or time for a seeming minority of people was fair on the rest.

Okie dokie, I know what halls internet is like, I feel your pain. 👎

Well thankfully Imola is over. Horrible race for myself. Was lapping 1:18.7s, but only for about 6 or 7 of the 20. The rest were riddled with penalties and spins. :(

Anyway, good idea from lap week.

Tables updated, some interesting movements around, Lotus falling back in PAL, Kakundoo taking up the charge behind fishfash, Lofasz jumping to 3rd in NTSC and his Lofus team catching Aguri on points. RACECAR quickly catching Fastduck...good stuff 👍

ADVANCED NOTICE :

Super Bowl XLIII is on Sunday, Feb 1, 2009

I will not be racing that night , I can not speak for all the other racers , but how many others will be watching the Super Bowl , there may be a shortage of drivers. I will be hosting a Super Bowl party.

Ardius , you may want to poll this. Just an idea 💡

I agree, we should make it Sat or Monday night that week.

Also while doing some testing tonight with RACECAR & Camikaze at Nurburgring. I remembered the "glitch" in the game concerning scoring positions during online races. About everytime I have raced there with 3 or more it happens. What do you think Ardius?

Right, ok, actually its also my birthday, so I don't mind moving it, lol. :D (I dont mind really, it doesnt take 5 minutes to send the PMs out, so I won't be bothered if the PAL race is still on Sunday)
Well my first question then is how many of the NTSC racers are able to do Sunday and how many are able to do Saturday, Monday or another day? I'll send a PM out about this so I can make sure everyone is aware of the issue.

Yeah, Nurburgring always has this problem, the only way around it is to ask everyone to try and keep track of their position, at the very least try and remember the drivers in front and behind.
It becomes more confusing if several players have this problem. The only way I can think of solving this is to discount the 1st lap and basically restart the race, allowing the unfairly-lapped cars to unlap themselves but I don't know how practical this will be, we should probably practice this first and see how it works out.

Getting in a practice race sounds like a good idea.

Your theory on re-starting the race...

Do you mean just trundle around on the first lap, like a formation, then go when we get round to the grid?

Well you got me laughing now Pepsi0 👍

That's good to hear.

Being last isn't actually that bad, and you don't usually have too much traffic in front of you so you can go as fast as you like and try and set lap records. Although you've got to always look behind you for anybody lapping you: I usually pull over and let them past.

Fishfash you weaved around when I let you passed, I assume that was a thanks.:sly:

I was thinking more that everyone stays in their grid slots and the lapped drivers go around 1 lap and line up again in their slots. This would require accurate knowledge of how many drivers there will be, so the AI problem can be minimised - the problem with the AI being that obviously they won't wait around and may actually finish the race earlier than we want, though I have no doubts our top drivers can catch the AI anyway, its a problem best kept to a minimal possiblity. Of course we will probably set AI at Easy if we do start the race like this.
Otherwise, if the AI isn't a problem, we can leave it on Medium.

The starting signal would have to be a specific time, so this is something we'd need to test. This won't make it an entirely fair start, but its better than getting confused with lapped drivers.

So it's when lapping the AI that the bug appears? Not lapping other Humans?

No, basically the bug is:
When the race starts, one or more players may be placed a lap down on the grid order indicator on the left hand side of the screen (which will also affect the results), even if the player starts on pole position (he still starts in pole, but is considered last place because the bug makes the game think he's already 1 lap down).
This of course means he has to unlap himself from everyone including AI.

So, you can see how this can get highly confusing when you consider 10 players, pit stops, etc.

If memory serves correct it affects the top 2 starters in the race. Once the race starts the top 2 will be shown a lap down.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was the top 2, but I did wonder, considering the start/finish line is actually a little behind pole position - perhaps this is why it happens here and sometimes on other tracks.

Only happens at the race start?

That'll be hard to monitor, as you can't just wait because the AI will fly past, probably hitting us. It may just us being a case of remembering who we overtake. If somebody notices that they are put down as 22nd on the grid, despite being 6th (etc) then we need some kind of signal, if indeed, that is how it works.

In above case.

How about Rain and AI on Hard? We can then just exclude the AI completely and just go on the order of us?

AI won't hit anyone, they are "ghosted" all the time.
22 cars? Has Kakundoo been giving you a 22 car grid?
Like I said before, the problem with "letting the AI do its thing" is that it will just rush ahead and finish the race, the race ends when the first car crosses the line after their 20th lap, AI or player, so you might not get a 20 (or 19 if we go ahead with the waiting idea) lap race.

Remembering who is lapped and who is not will be easier in PAL, but keep in mind the NTSC grid, with 10 players, it will get very confusing and will cause incidents if people forget and start blocking drivers because they don't think they are being lapped, etc. The results will also be hard to work out if people can't remember who overtook who.

Dubbs , in our other league , remember , we were running a full field with AI , perhaps a practice run without any AI as a test run to see what happens. I remember passing Hemiata 4 times , but he still won !!!!!! ??????? according to the screen results.

As far as Superbowl Sunday , I can race Saturday night,or Monday night , does not matter to me , lets see what everybody else says about this then decide

Sureshot, you probably saw me weaving in response to Fishfash weaving to me.:sly:

Yep that was a thanks for letting me by. It's shame we can't give the thumbs up like they do sometimes in real F1

With regards to the lap bug, there isn't really much we can do.

The Ardius solution of letting cars unlap themselves is the only way of getting round the problem, but I can't see it working as everyone at that time would need to be aware that a glitch has happened. You would need some sort of voice support or signal. Even an 11th driver waiting in the lobby and for that person to check the circuit map and then perhaps late join. That person late joining could be the signal used to inform everyone on the grid that a glitch has happened.

It's too complicated I think we should just carry on and as Ardius mentioned make a note of who is in front and behind by looking on the map 👍

I say that I agree with the unlapping method, but I suggest we do it without the AI on at all. That way, it'll eliminate the AI and we can unlap ourselfs without the AI in the way.
