If you follow the photo link to flickr, you can check the EXIF info there, which will tell you that the shutter speed was at 1/500s.With this picture... how do you manage to not have the moving parts blurry? Like the Skateboard for example? When I have tried shots like this, either the background is blurry or the object is blurry.

I don't know at which speed things start to freeze in skateboarding, but, at the time, I decided to lock it to 1/500 (I switched to shutter priority). Apparently, it worked.

No problem.
The lens used is a manual focus lens. In fact, I don't have any AF lens.
But even if I had an AF lens, I think I'd have done the same I did here: I pre-focused on the spot I wanted and left it there.
