3D Modelling, Post your 3D models! (Cars, Planes, People, Landscapes etc!)

@ DarkAvenger. Cool phone model đź‘Ť, i think it's about time you started modeling some of your car designs.
Out of interest, what are you studying at Uni.. product design?

Thanks! And yes, it is. End of 2nd year, out of 4 in total. Lol Pretty much in the middle. :l

And i don't know how to use blueprints in solidworks, or images... i assume, i skipped the class where i could have learned how because i was doing work for another class. :c

God damn you Project Methodology stealing my Solidworks classes! :irked:

Cool, only half way left to go. đź‘Ť

Maybe there's some youtube tutorials out there explaining how to import images into Solidworks, and how to align them (and rotate, disect etc) to the axis's.

Little wooden toy. Lol

Looks fake. I kid.

That is to say it looks like plastic with that kind of finish. Or a thin coat of resin. Are you able to play around wit the gloss to make it look more like wood?

Cool VW Fusca DarkAvenger đź‘Ť, it would make a great wooden toy or ornament, really like the polished/glazed wooden texture as well. Are you going to get it CNC'd/milled?

Offroad racing buggy:

Double wishbone suspension, steering, and the engine block here. Everything can move as it should. I plan on making a fully functional car and having it drive across different terrain. Should be a deep red on part of the frame but the lighting and finish is off. Haven't messed with that yet

I like the wooden beetle and Wyvern yet again you've produced a very impressive mechanical model, I thought I'd share something I've been working on for a month or so, the car and character are about 11,000 polys in total and any criticism is appreciated. ;)

Beauty Shot( Ive inverted the colours because it's currently being examined by my university so I don't want to get into some sort of plagiarism dispute :D)

^ I think it looks cool Peasantslayer đź‘Ť (as does Wyvern's buggy). I don't understand the plagiarism bit though.. did you copy it or something?

No. He already submitted it for his class, but obviously his instructor doesn't know that "Peasantslayer" is him, so he's altering the image so that it doesn't get picked up from a search for plagiarism.

Here is the entire front end finished (minues the headlights):

Then renderred:

It in total has 95k polygons

Edit: I've just realised I don't even have the audi logo!!

dude that's awesome. how did you render it? does sketchup do it for you? i dont' know anything about 3d modeling but this thread for me interest. might try for myself

Here's a minor update to my NHRA mod for rFactor. First time I've ever tried mapping a model and make textures for it.

Trees  :yuck: :nervous: If I didn't liked making something in 3d, it was trees!! But it's your first 3d? Looks nice, and big, and a lot of stuff already in there! Keep on going.

Haven't done any 3d modelling in years, always worked with Cinema4d, pure for hobby. Maybe I'll download the demo later today and see if I still have some patience left for this...

Incomplete model of a working 5-speed manual transmission. Might to a 6-speed double clutch later. :D

Edit 1/30/13:

Well, it got a bit more complicated than expected to make it shorter and compatible with a double clutch gearbox if desired with a few changes.

very nice model. I was just thinking if you had thought or talking to angus94 and the dragfactor team from AUS. it just seams to me that some mods stall because many people can do one part but not other(not ment to insult you rather to help you see your creation run) and it may be an idea to ask these guys for help in the physics department maybe for allowing the use with full credit to use your car in their mod

I'll share some of my SketchUp models. Sadly my computer is broken so I can only post pictures that I already saved and uploaded to facebook :(

Anyway, starting with this creation, it's a penholder, modelled after a real item. The difficult thing was to figure out how I would to the spiral, but in the end I worked it out :) The material is metal, but SketchUp can't render gloss so it looks more like concrete or something.

Next is my most detailed model yet, my vertical piano of the brand Hooff & Co Berlin. The only saved picture I have is this transparent rendering. I spent two days measuring and modeling every single detail down to the millimeter...

The last one is my own design for a sort of a storage box that I've been working on for some time, based on circles and spheres.

Edit: Oh, and I also used SketchUp to make plans for building the Eiffel Tower as a gingerbread house!

Wow!, cool SketchUp models eran, i especially like the piano.

I've been working in SketchUp myself (nothing nearly as complicated though )

Helping my boss to design a small indoor skate park.

Is that blue area a pool? Skate off a ramp into a pool.

Getting close to finishing my racing buggy.

If you can get that model up in a working simulated environment, that would greatly help you discover possible flaws by "playing" in it. However, we all know pressing buttons is nothing alike riding your skateboard or bmx IRL so there are some limitations.

Looks good though. I like that vertical board you put in. I see the possibility of jumping of the nearby ramp into a wall ride. I think there's room to adjust a few bits so that the the entire park has a flow to every area. I don't know why but I've always had a blast constructing skate parks in a Tony Hawk Pro Skater game when I was little. :)

Buggy is looking well sweet Wyvern. đź‘Ť

No, it's meant to be a foam pit, i couldn't be bothered to model the foam blocks though.

Foam pit: (PS, this isn't the latest version.)

There's still plenty of flaws we're trying to iron out, we tried a few things in Skate 3, but it was only so good.
We're getting plenty of help/suggestions (and criticism) for the park design, (and the usual Skaters vs Bmxer's both hating scooterers, BS that comes along with it), why they can't all play nicely, i'll never know...
This model has probably changed 3 times already this week, just trying to find a happy medium. The main issue's are 1: the budget, (if i had it my way, it would be a lot nicer), but once things have been up and running for a while, he's planning to change the layout to incorporate a proper bowl.
And 2: It's only 10.000 sq feet.... So it's definitely a challenge.

So I haven't posted anything here in forever, but I just started to crack down on working on my portfolio so I can enroll for Uni/college (you need to show you have a basic understanding of how to model and what not, good to know they aren't just the "if you can pay, you're accepted" type), and I made this today:

Table1.png

Nothing too fancy, but that is mostly because I don't have a damn clue how to render things well enough to where making something better (like a bowl of fruit and a glass of water and a background) is worth it.

That is something I should go work on. And here you may be wondering how I got into art/design school in the first place.

Here's some work my group is doing, it's a Miata mini-mod for the upcoming sim, Assetto Corsa. WIP:

Wardez, that MX5 looks awesome. It looks real, (in a solid kind of way). đź‘Ť

Here's a few pics of a (WIP), weird upside down magnetic road vehicle (obviously wouldn't work, just fantasy ). It's mean't to be a VW bus, i'd like to make something less boxy and more curved, but i'm a novice with this SketchUp thing.
