I did a quick session of only 4-5 laps on your tune Tim (with some minor adjustements)
Oil change brought me up to 404HP

The stress factor will bring me down a couple of tenths of course.
And hopefully no spins :ill:

Sorry guys, but unfortunately I can't participate tonight :(

I've been very busy in the offline world, and need to finish up on some other stuff...

Hopefully next time :)

But to all participating: all the best and have fun 👍

Guys, I know this might be too much to ask - but can anyone please dupe me a fully broken-in car?
I have a lot to study so I'm not able to break-in the car (and I haven't been on my wheel/PS3 since WRS36).

See you on the track tonight.

Thanks in advance, cheers.

Hmm, are you maybe using a different type of HP than we are in your screens?

Top should be 399.

Oh, ok. Maybe I'm in BHP rather than HP, or the other way around.
Now just to find that again in the options...

Sent. Even has my tune already set up. :sly:

Nice set of laps there. You have my best lap beat by 0.055 and I haven't been able to do a sub 1'39 other than that one lap a couple days ago. During the race I'll be happy to see 3-4 1'39s each stint once my tires warm and before they wear down. After that it'll just be about trying to keep consistent and not make a bad enough mistake that I lose the draft on those in front.

There is room for last minute entries. Someone want to send Wes a reminder as he forgot about the event last time he signed up.

Notes: Be prompt as online qualifying is limited to one stint and 15 minutes. Hydro's lounge will be open for practice about an hour before qualifying starts. Lounge will be reset at the top of the hour. Once you enter track after that you have one stint and 15 minutes to get in your best lap. Stewards will announce end of qualifying and you must stop lapping after finishing your hot lap. No pits during quali or leaving track once you enter the track after the room reset. Grid start with fastest first setting, but you start where you start. Pits are of course allowed during the race. Good luck.

Reminder from OLR:

Your goal on turn 1 should not be to get to the front, but rather to convert a double wide start field to a single file running order. Look ahead more than one car. Due to field compression, a compact field will run slower through the first few turns than a spread out one. Leave some extra space, but not too much. Drivers behind you won't be expecting sudden braking.

Sorry about that Tim, I haven't forgotten it this time.;)
Nah, I didn't forget it last time either but I forgot to contact you before the race.

Thanks Speedy.👍

No problem Wes... just didn't want you to miss out on all the fun.

Thanks WRP for giving me a car.
:D

Also, I'm soooo looking forward to this, I only raced online once on GT5 (real race, had many lounge 3 playerish/1 lapish drive-offs), 3 hour LMP/GT1 endurance on Fuji, used a sixaxis back then and I finished 5th only because I really had to go to toilet, so I had to park the car mid-race and run down the stairs, haha.
Lost 2 places because of that, that musn't happen tonight.

This should be so fun!

PS:
Did some practice on a new car (0km) using EDK's tune - 1:40.6xx, is that good?

You can use my first name. It's in my profile, everyone knows it anyway, and it's posted all over the place. ;)

Thanks Kevin, we just didn't want to ASSume. ;)

@Energizerr: That seems really good to me, for being 30HP less than a fully-broke-in car. 👍 My best is only 0.5 less than that with the fully-broke-in Drinky.

No problem. One good bump draft on the front straight should be pay back enough. :sly:

Show up a little early for pre-race practice as it'll give you a good idea where you stand. Yanaran was doing low 1'38 and even a 1'37 during the race . Some drivers are running 1'41+ as their fastest laps so it's all across the board. You should find some close racing regardless. Maybe too close if you are near myself, speedy or gooners. :sly:

It's Ed right?... just kidding Kevin.

Uh-oh, just saw this in the thread about tomorrow's GT5 update:

http://www.community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network/PSN-Maintenance-scheduled-for-this-Thursday-27th-October-from-02/m-p/13934333

There will be scheduled maintenance taking place this Thursday 27th October from 2.00AM until 8.00AM BST.

During the Maintenance period the following services may be affected:

* Signing into PSN
* PlayStation Store
* Account management
* PS Sign In (via SonyEntertainmentNetwork)
If you are signed in during this period, you may find you are signed out of your online session temporarily.

There may be additional downtime for testing purposes.

That sounds like it starts right around the time the NA race starts. :ouch:

I hope to participate, but may be just getting there at the very last minute.

Al

I am going to open up a lobby to practice if anyone wants to come join me.

We'll proceed as scheduled and the contingency plan will be same time tomorrow night, but let's hope it doesn't come down to that. If we start the event and get cutoff in the middle that would 🤬, but what can we do.

In any case if we can't get to the finish I'm racing again tomorrow and whoever wants can join me!

As Kevin said, this could be an event just for Europe and not for NA. Who knows.. that last scheduled event never happened so unless something really official pops up between now and race start we'll just keep moving forward expecting to race.

PS> Nice of them to give us notice

Well, was mainly referring to the fact that updates are normally done intentionally during off peak hours. According to the info, we are getting an update, it's more a matter of our timing.

2 am BST is 6 pm PST, so we will know at practice time if this is going to be an issue for us.

EDIT : Right now, there's nothing about this on US PSN Blog or GT5 pages.

Fooeey! Well let's hope it's a quick update and we're back online by 7:00 PM. We'll try *hard* to hold the race tonight, but as I said before contingency is tomorrow night, same time same lounge.

Here's the plan:

We won't quit trying to host the race until the clock hits 8:00 PM Pacific tonight. If the outage lasts beyond 7:15 PM pacific we'll cancel qualifying and just start with random grid. If the outage lasts beyond 7:30 PM Pacific we'll start shortening the event by 5 laps every 10 minutes. (7:30=40 laps, 7:40=35, 7:50=30, 8:00=25). After 8:00 PM Pacific if we haven't started we'll reschedule the official race for tomorrow night.

If we start the race and get booted we will NOT restart tonight and we'll reschedule for tomorrow night. In that case consider it a high pressure practice race.

If we reschedule for tomorrow and you want to race tonight we'll hold a practice/unofficial race when the network comes back online assuming it's not too late. Or if there is demand we can just play at spa online. I'm hell bent on racing something tonight.

If the network is down for a full 4 hours (6-10 PM Pacific) just go and do some offline WRS and come back tomorrow night. Or if we're offline seasonal events probably won't work so we can't do that either right? 🤬

In any case, check this thread if there are issues... I'm sure to be posting away as always.

I'm going to have to withdraw from tonight's race I'm afraid guys - very busy at the moment and I can't spare the time. I did think I'd be finished by now but its not to be unfortunately.

Good luck all taking part and have fun.

We will be doing an October GT5 update in North America and Europe, planned for Oct. 27th.
Playstation Blog
On Thursday 27th October from 8AM BST PlayStation Home will be briefly offline for scheduled maintenance. Here is what to expect after the update…
To my calculations 8AM BST is about 2and a half hours after the NA race ends.
So I think you guys will have no problem in your race tonight :)

If we have to go to plan B, I'm 50/50 for tomorrow night.

Depends on how soon we know if there will be an issue tonight. I have some things I need to get done before a weekend trip, and if I spend too much time racing or trying to race tonight, I probably won't make it tomorrow.

On the other hand, if it's apparent early on that we can't race tonight, I'll take care of what I need to take care of, leaving me free for tomorrow.

Who's on first? :dopey:

Did someone have one of my slips?

Oh, ok. Maybe I'm in BHP rather than HP, or the other way around.
Now just to find that again in the options...

I'd be interested to find the "BHP" if you could find that for me because all I can find is "HP"

I haven't heard of the "Belgium Horse Power" exchange rate but it would be interesting to see :)

No excuses.

I'm horrible, I'm not used to the wheel at all (<2weeks of wheel use) and I can't recover even from a slightest slide.
Spun out 4 times, Couldn't get bellow 1:40 throughout.

I'm not taking part in any WRS or 3D3 untill I get better with wheel than I was on a pad.

Sorry guys.

You might try turning on Active Steering to the Strong setting, in the Driving Options menu (where you select the tires and auto vs manual stuff). I usually hate how it makes road cars feel, but in the Asparadrink and last week's Lexus, it really did help with preventing spins. Traction control is another thing to try, I guess.

Also, a few of the racers in our series are exclusively on DS3's, that's an option too...

On my DFGT, I've had to train my right foot to lift-off quickly at the first hint of a slide, THEN try to give a little counter-steer, not the other way around, which used to be my default slide correction (ie, holding the gas constant and only trying to counter-steer out of it).

EDIT: Plus this is supposed to be fun. At 1'40's, you'd be racing me, and you probably wouldn't even end up in last place, as that's traditionally my job. :dopey:

👍 Congratz to Yanara on winning the EU event from pole. Great race and great strategy with one stop. You would have won either way though.

The first stint before pits was just full of very close racing. Awesome fun and any time it started to stretch out a bit the draft compressed it again. Those 40 laps sure felt like a long race, especially with Wes hunting me down the last 6-7 laps and passing me with 2 to go. My driving crumbled under the pressure in the 3rd stint, but I drove well in the first two stints. I guess I should do one stop and just two stints tonight.
