GTP_MaxAttack Tsukuba 500 Sprint Nov 2nd EU

đź‘Ť Glad to see the EU slot filling in... Usually it's the event that fills up first. Hopefully all the EU regulars come out and play again this week. Pick your colors to be unique on the grid.

Sprint format should provide some unique fun. Lucas and I tested yesterday and passing will be tough, but with the point system every pass by the end is worth a point so it's not necessary to go from last to first to win the overall anyway.

Our setups were quite loose (offline based). Very fun and drifty on tight corners, but maybe a tighter setup would allow better passing.

Draft on back straight isn't very strong with the weak slipstream setting... This may be one of those rare occasions to consider strong.

We will know more after group practice next week.

I probably won't run this week. Haven't tried the WRS combo yet and ever since the last patch GT5 won't stay online for more than 5 minutes, then I get a network error and can't log back into PSN unless I restart my ps3.

It's doubtful I'll run enough to submit to WRS this week either, but I'm anxious to run in the sprint format w/points and see how it works.

There were serious network issues last night for everyone so maybe it'll get better for you -- or maybe they really screwed up the servers and we're all in trouble. :scared:

In any case Yanaran, you are always welcome if you change your mind.

I'm having some of the same problems, and they started the night of the update when I got booted from the NA race :odd:
Tim and I were online last night for a little bit, and I got booted three times. :nervous:
Hopefully it will sort itself out by Wednesday (hopefully it will go away today :))

This race will be like "Roller Derby" so in order for "The Whip" to occur you would need the draft on full. I would think this is as close to GT5'z version of "Martinsville" as we have which is appropriate for this weeks race. These cars setup properly will make for some close racing and for some interesting passing and upsets for multiple drivers. So if you have to stick your crome horn in to someone please be gentle and just use it to disrupt the other driver and not blow them out of the turn. đź‘Ť

I'll post my setup for my "Alterd EDK Flyer" after supmission time for the WRS. The gearing and LSD setup reminds me of how the lockup converter sounds in the new drag racers. Just to let you know if you counted the amount of gears I use on one hand, you'd have 2 fingers left over

European Race
  • Practice: 11:00 AM Pacific / 2:00 PM Eastern / 6:00 PM GMT
  • Qualification: 12:00 PM Pacific / 3:00 PM Eastern / 7:00 PM GMT
  • Race Start: 12:15 PM Pacific / 3:15 PM Eastern / 7:15 PM GMT
  • Race Duration: ~60 minutes.

Question: As I am going into wintertime this night. And I'm sure I'm not the only one here... The race start will be an hour earlier for me and is not going to be suitable for me to make it.
Will the quali and race start be delayed 1hour or not? :scared:
If not, I won't be able to make it to any EU raceslots anymore (till next summertime that is)

The EU timeslot was always a bit of a tentative time, as we really hadn't expected to run that timeslot at all in the beginning.
It also made for a good time for both myself and Tim, but it may need a slight change once Summer / Daylight savings ends.

This week will stay the same, but we can always look into moving the slot if it works for both the drivers, and hosts đź‘Ť

Definitely some new network issues with 2.01 guys.đź‘Ž

Hopefully everything is straightened out by race day though.

In a twist of irony, my room's have been more solid then many whose were better then mine before, (knocks on wood) so if we develop the need, I can host the NA race, either in my lounge or a "public" lobby that I'd just kick non GTP tags from.
Just offering if we do need it.

Thanks. We will see how it goes. I've had no problems yet so I'll host if hydro's issue don't resolve... I have nat 1 so it's extra insurance against some issues... But we will keep our options open thru testing and practice. Everyone should keep an eye on thread in case we do move it.

Evening guys :) Yeah I'll sign up for this one please chaps, looks like a fun format. I'll pick a colour and get back to you. đź‘Ť

I'm clear on Wednesday, if there's open spots I should be able to join the EU race this week guys. :)

Sign me up for the EU race slot , color: Gunmetal Metallic / white-red rims.

MadMax

Last time I heard Hydro was still having connection problems after switching his PS3 and installing 2.01... So looks highly probably I'll be hosting both events in my lounge.

I've just setup a new home network (modem, router, etc., all new).
It looks like I was dealing with a faulty Modem. My connections have been suspect ever since the British Invasion event when I lost all power for 5-6 hrs, then it came on / off / on a few times over the course of the night.

So far, all tests are going well, and I haven't been DC's once since my new setup came online. (back to normal :))

I'll be up for some Fiat testing tonight if anyone wants to join me.
I'll post when I have the room setup - probably in a couple of hours.

Edit: I'm online now if anyone feels like running a few laps đź‘Ť
Edit 2: all done đź‘Ť

As it turns out, I won't be able to make the race this week. I'm traveling to Dallas on Business and won't be back home until Thursday. :ouch:

See you guys this weekend and next week at Spa. :)

I'm Bob grinding right now to get the last bit of Hp out of my rubber band powerd pile and after submissions are over I'll post my setup later today. I have it down to just 2 gears now...... but I think that I'll set it up for my orig 3 speed incase the car gets caught up in trafic. I have crossed the line doin 84mph w/ this setup :)

I will open my lounge for Tsukuba 500 practice today at 8:00 PM Eastern / 5:00 PM Pacific.

I won't be driving myself until about 8:00 PM Pacific, but I'll have the lounge setup and open for others. I'll set the lounge for 8 lap races in case people want to do some draft testing. Feel free to start races while I'm away from the PS3. That should keep the test races to about 10 minutes so nobody has to wait very long. No pits this week and not much worry about tire wear so it's just about online setup tweaks and draft testing.

Big question is whether you want to run a drifting style loose setup (use the EDK offline setup) or a tighter traction based custom online setup. Will be interesting to see.

I plan to switch the room over to KazSpa specs around 9:00 PM Pacific.

đź‘Ť Thanks Lefty. So how do you classify this setup... Drifter or Gripper?

It is a gripper w/ what I call "Inherent rotation" which means that it's like the front wheels are dragging a trailer that you happen to be sitting in, this thing stays under you and is controllable on step out because it's FWD and it just drags the rear end along as it exits the turn because the front is torqued up and griping out of the corner :)

I was also able to almost duplicate my current off line times at Spa online, that either tells you that my online setup is good or my offline setup is bad

My lounge is now open for NA Tsukuba 500 Practice. I'll be away for a while, but all are welcome.

Pekka and I did a race to see what the draft brings...
It's not that you'll overshoot the car in front of you on the straight, but you are able to hold on to him a bit better.
This is actually going be a tough race, as you saw yourself Tim, there is only place to lose time and nothing to make up for it. And there are not many places to overtake in this car.
Waiting for the car in front of you making a mistake to overtake him will be the main thing we'll be doing I think.

I ran a bit with Blair as well.
Speedy's right in that passing will be tricky.
The strong draft helps keep the cars close, but not so much for actual passing.

It's definitely going to be tight đź‘Ť

The reverse order starts, and mini-race setup should make for some very entertaining replays :D
I must admit, I'm really curious as to how this event will play out ;)

Sign me up for the EU race.

Car is very chrome pink, with gold rims. Shooting for worst styling prize. But it is a chicks car after all.
