Thats awesome hydro.

Hoping something happens soon with the GTP_registry so i can get official.

thought i'd mention i think you got mine and speedy's fastest laps mixed up

What's .050 between friends?
It's fixed now 👍

Congratz to Dom on the win. 👍

My race fell apart with 2 laps to go. Tires fell off to rims and I lost 8 spots in last two laps. Strategy failed me this time... you win some you lose some. Still a ton of fun and learned a lesson tonight. 👍

Much better form the second time around.:)
Still had an off into the sand when I was distracted, and had a full-blown wipe out, on the final lap.:scared:

Mathematically I'm positive 2 stops is faster then 3, but I did a 3 stopper on impulse.

good stuff:tup: thought i was a little off, started with a bad quali for me, did better in the EU race on that. then got caught behind hydro a few times and ran slideways for about a hundred feet it seemed like and got it back straight, forgot to save replay to get pic on that:banghead: after running on hydro's tail pretty much the whole first half of the race i got some breathing room. my last stint i finally ran a lap close to what i was able to do on full fuel, but since it was race trim i was definitely more conservative. Reeled in WRP for the last 6 laps and made sure nobody was catching me this time from behind. congrats again CSL on the victory!!

was great racing with you all and looking forward to doing it again.

2:12.2 was my fastest lap entering tonights race, 2:11.4's pretty good.👍
Wish I'd spent some more time, (I always do) I could definitely see 2:10's, but learning the limits during a race doesn't play out well most times.

Shame you threw them bananas in front of Tim, he was doing well for so long.:indiff:

:lol::lol::lol::lol: It totally killed him

LOL. Well I had to be a good host after beating you both this afternoon in the EU event. :sly:

I knew I was dead two laps before Dragon caught me. The tires were just getting blown apart tonight.

No tire squeal sounds from the game either... that was really odd. Something happened when we reset the room for quali. The tire squeal sounds stopped and I felt "separated" from the tires and the chassis of the car... like having numb feet and walking around. Threw me off big time for quali as I was over a second off my time from practice and then it was just odd during the race.

Not making any excuses as we were all in the same boat, but I've never heard of that happening before. Some "physics" switch must have been turned off based on a network connection detected at room reset or something.

It was odd with the tire squeel off, one of our senses for speed and stability of the cars when braking and cornering was gone and it made it very strange right away. It took a lap or two to get used but once I did it wasn't a big problem for me.

I felt off the whole race though, I just didn't like how my car felt, kind of unpredictable compared to previous tests. It felt nothing like the 5 lap race we ran Tim, where I was fast and good control of the car.

I slid off at Stavelot almost half of the laps, a couple times catching some of that sand there which really killed my T3's. Three major mistakes in the race for me. The first was on lap 2 at stavelot where I went off and almost spun and lost 2 positions although I got one back pretty quickly. I almost spun in front of Tim coming out of the second right hander in T2 late in the race, don't know what happened there but just lost the car. Any time I started to gain ground on someone I would make a mistake and lose the draft, this resulted in very few good battles for me. Lucas and I did have a good one though, after Eau Rouge, raced clean side by side going into the chicane and then mistakes throughout T2 dropped me out of drafting distance.

I almost hit Tim coming out of raidillon on the last lap when he had no tires. My tires were the worst they were all night and I come up the hill sliding and see I'm closing on him at a really fast rate. It felt like the car was on ice as I turned sharply to the left and narrowly missed him. It would have been a nasty one and would have been gameover for my driver at 170mph. Luckily, I missed and Tim was able to slowly putter:sly: to the finish line.

Great job everyone, sorry for the long boring post. Alos, it was cool to race Kevin, one of the guys who makes the WRS machine run.👍 Thanks to the 3D3 stewards for putting the race on.

Another great race last night guys. Thanks again to the 3D3 crew for organizing these events.👍

I had a terrible qualifying session, after turning a best lap of 2'12.8xx in the practice session, I only managed a 2'14 something.👎

The race didn't start very well either. 9th on the grid, last after turn 1. I caught Al at Pouhon and we came together at the exit. Sorry about that Al, I should of slowed a bit, but you went wide and opened the door. I slowed after the next turn to allow you to regain the position.

After chasing Al and Lefty for a few laps, I got past and was alone on the track for many laps. After my second of three pit stops, Kevin and I had a great battle right to the finish. I was leading him until my last stop on lap 20. He regained the position as I exited the pits and the race was on. I was on newer tires and was able to close the gap several times, but couldn't pull off the pass. Great close racing with you Kevin.👍

Congrats on the win Dom.👍

Tim, I watched the replay. You were down to the rims on the fronts the last lap. Good thing you had 4 wheel drive to drag you to the finish.:sly:

Looking forward to next week.:)

I should have just pitted to get fresh tires after Lap 24, but I went down with the ship.

I considered pulling over to get out of the way and just putting on the hand brake, but I thought I'd give everyone behind the satisfaction of passing me on the final lap and rubbing it in a little. :sly: I decided if I took my medicine for a full lap of agony that I might learn a lesson.

Unfortunately Scott caught up to me after Eau Rouge at one of the fastest points on the track with a speed difference of maybe 110 mph, but luckily he was able to just avoid me (I was off to the side) and not ruin his final lap. I would have been mad at myself if I had ruined someone else's finish. I actually fought with Lefty on the final chicane for kicks, but lost that spot too.

Spa just sent me a bill to repair the divots my rims created in the tarmac. :dunce:

I'm still amazed at this whole cyber driving thing as to how we drive like we can feel the G forces and we modulate the power like we can tell when the tires stop spinning and start tracking etc… Well last night was another psychological adventure down the road of the pretend. Since the wave file that GT5 uses to give us a heads up that we aren’t tracking anymore wasn’t working, I did everything I could to try to become one w/ the car like a Vulcan Mind Mull and estimate the roasting coefficient of the tires as well as the second the tail started stepping out.

This rated right up there with the transition I made from running a wheel that didn’t have any force feedback to having a FF wheel. Wow I thought this is great I don’t have to pretend to know which way the wheels are facing and I started relying on the output of the wheel as a known rather then a probably. After that I started to depend on the wheel for information and didn’t know how much until the power would get cut off to it and I was rocketed back to the those good old days when ignorance was bliss. With the lack of input I would have to go back to guessing again.

Well there was a weird thing that happened when the squeal wasn’t there I didn’t react to some wave file as a panic alarm in a most critical area of the track. I was more focused towards the direction of the car and out of the 25 trips up the curvy hill, I was able to hit my marks flat out 20 out of 25 times. An uncharacteristic outcome that usually netted me 5 out of 25 times that I could hit my marks wide open. The car also felt strangely more hooked up also, very strange.

I assume you are talking about Eau Rouge. Yes, it was strangely easy to make that turn clean and full out. Even on 6 lap old tires I could hit that turn pretty easily without lifting.

I'm convinced 3D3 tapped into a 5th dimension for that NA race as the car was just not behaving the same as it did in any practice or race I'd done previously. It did have that "hooked up" feeling at times, and was easier to drive I'd have to say... that might explain the excessive tire wear if there was some extra grip factor, but for me it felt detached and I couldn't summon my inner Spock during quali or the race as the Vulcans that I know are notoriously wary of n-space and the dubious predictions of string theory.

I have to blame placebo guys. I say this strictly because I didn't notice the tire noise, and hence I noticed no physics oddities.
Out of sight,(earshot) out of mind. :)

We use three things to help us understand the limits when driving:sight(what's happening on screen), sound(engine, rpm's, tires), and feel(force feedback, pedal resistance). Remove one and it can severly impact your driving until you adapt. That loss of feedback can definitely make us feel the car is behaving differently. I had a hard time adapting, a few mistakes early in the race and it frustrated me and then I probably let the no screeching me affect me more than it should have.

But I do know that everyone who beat me was faster than me the whole race, I just couldn't hang with people. I wouldn't have been near Tim at all if it weren't for his tires. The sound issue had no bearing in my finishing position, more like a hurdle to overcome. Oh well great racing, I love endurances.

Made a compilation of the EU race...

NA race compilation still to come ;)

Nice vid! I'm not complaining but you guys seem to have much more fun than me. :) I had w-g-e on my tail first two laps, was on his the last lap, and passed MadMax and Biffy when I was on fresh tires and theirs were worn. The rest of the race was more like a solo practice run (as you can tell by my almost complete absence in the compilation hehe). Who was that at ~9 minutes by the way? Amazing driving by the following car, I don't understand how you can drive that close at race pace.

This leads me into something I think I've mentioned before and that's if maybe we should run ballast penalties based on division... Doesn't have to be anything too crippling, just to even things out a little. I'm thinking we could try 50/30/10 for divisions 1/2/3 in "normal" weight cars? Anyone agree or am I being stupid? :dopey:

edit: Or maybe just start a success ballast system like the SuperGT leagues...

👍 Nice job on the video speedy! Some really good racing on this event. It was hard to pass, but if you just kept applying pressure eventually you could get by -- or wear the heck out of your tires trying.

I don't know who it was at 9 minutes, but it also takes two drivers to "tango" that close. To follow that close you have to know/trust the lead driver and understand where they are going to brake and what they are going to do. I feel like I can drive 10 laps like in a row near Marc since we race against each other so often -- 3 times a week (2x 3D3 + Super GT) plus all the practice and testing we do. Also doesn't hurt that we basically run the exact same lap/split times every week. 👍

I'm not a big fan of ballast for this series since we change cars every single week. I'd rather face the challenge of trying beat you straight up to be honest and if I can't then I need more time and skill. Maybe I'm being selfish, but I personally don't want to win a race and have you D1 guys driving a handicapped car. I want to earn it or at least win because you made a mistake or I chose a better strategy and not because of excess luggage in your trunk.

I have a louder-then-I'd-like girl and son, coupled with a heater in my room.
That could have given me a unique perspective on this sound issue I suppose.

I noticed wind/air traveling past the car during the race, which I never hear, probably due to the no tire noise.

I know what you mean Dom, my wife was sitting right next to me watching youtube videos, so I had the lap top screen flashingin my vision the whole time. Annoying for sure, don't have the balls to ask her to move since she was kind enough to give me persmission.

When you slap, loosen the wrist up, don't be afraid to use the wrist for extra clubhead speed. ;) jk, of course.

Very good job on the video Christophe.
I already said to Jonas that I thought my FFB was weaker after 12:15. That was close.:scared:

I'm sure she was watching 3D3 video highlights from our previous races right?

Awesome vid, Speedy! 👍 Look forward to the NA one.
Thanks for doing that.

Great race last night! 👍👍
I had headphones on and no distractions, so I noticed the lack of tire noise, but forgot about it after a few laps. But it probably would have helped prevent the couple offs I had. Was stoked to finish 5th (started 5th too).

Funniest moment for me was somewhere in the middle laps, I was trying to get by Lefty, presumably with better tires than him, but ended up bumping the hell out of him, and as I was letting him get back in front of me, Tim split between us at a huge speed differential, with a nice "See ya! Enough of that noise!" vibe.

2nd funniest was the "train" of Marc, Dragon, Tim, and I starting around lap 3, all super-close, and it stayed that way for at least a whole lap.

I ended the race with my fuel gauge in the red, so looks like I guessed right on that last pit stop. I pitted at the end of 6, 12, and 19, IIRC. Still don't know how to be nice to the tires on this thing.

Thanks everyone for coming out, and great hosting, as always, Tim and Marc!

Lol, yeah I know. She's German though, they can be mean.:sly:

Tim, I just watched the replay of the last lap, we weren't nearly as close to a collision as I thought at the time. I think it took a second for me to realize this car isn't going fast and when I tried to turn it slid and was a little loose on me. What was more impressive was how Lucas came over the crest and managed to avoid you by only a few feet.
