You're only just becoming a teenager as well, that thought seems crazy to me

Don't worry though, your youthful spirit will eventually be crushed by years of disappointment, like me :)

Either that or you'll decide to try and do what everyone else seems to think is impossible and achieve whatever you want to :D, like me.

I'm really not looking forward to Istanbul tomorrow night :(, I haven't been that quick in practice, so in all honesty i'm expecting around 4th place, and that's if I can have a clean race. I'm not sure whether i'll be quicker than Demarko, but I'm sure not faster than Duck or Shaggy :nervous:

Just slightly off topic, but has anyone tried F12009 on the PSP or Wii ?

I have played the Wii version for around 1 hour, and it reminds me of Formula One 2002 on the PS2. Oh, also wanted to mention that it has lag/slowdown in single player mode, the same lag/slowdown we experienced at Imola in this season's championship !!! :yuck:

Gyles, i've been dying to hear some thoughts from a genuinely 'sim' orientated player on F1 2009. I can understand that it's not a simulation by any stretch of the imagination and is clearly aimed at families and kids, but how does it handle? Does it keep that ridiculous pivot style handling that's in Grid? Im looking for any sort of indicator for how F1 2010 might eventually handle on the PS3. If it's not like Grid, that can only be a positive.

Check out this video to witness the lies of codemasters. I still find it incredible that they interviewed proper racing drivers and got them to say that Race Driver Grid is a realistic game.

Hey Shaggy, I need to give this game more time, I purchased it for the kids on Friday and wanted to give it a bash today but they were on the damn WWE game :sly:

Now the problem I have with the game is the way they have implemented the control system. The Gamecube controller does not work which is a major disappointment, and playing with the Wii steering wheel, (the same one we use for Mario Kart), is a no no.

So I am left with the Wii Remote/Nun Chuck combination or the Classic Controller which I don't actually own yet. From my initial impressions it does not handle like Grid, having said that I just can't get used to the Wii Remote, it's very fiddly. I really need to try the game with the Classic Controller, I will pop in town tommorrow and get one and perhaps a Component cable to output in 480P :)

A simulation game is never going to work well enough with the Wii because the Wiimote and the Wiimote Plus are just too poor in terms of accuracy. It makes sense because obviously Nintendo are not going to spend huge amounts of money making the technology extremely accurate when they don't need to.
Not to mention the hardware is quite old now and the target audience is largely non-gamers.

Codemasters have no obligation to make it a realistic game for the Wii, just simply a functional one. It doesn't even have to be in depth, just more than the average Wii game (which is not saying much).

So I advise people to wait for the PS3 and 360 versions before making assesements. Those should be more orientated towards more serious players.

My thoughts exactly Ardius. I'm sure that the handling will be fine on F1 2010, because obviously F1 cars handle a lot differently to touring cars anyway. Personally, I think it'll be a great game and I can't wait, the only disappointment (so far) is that I won't be able to race with Jenson Button in the Brawn :(

Hopefully more information will be given soon on new features and how the online will work. I would like to see the host being able to control everything like Shaggy mentioned, dedicated servers and a better ranking system!

I'm not so sure it will be a great game, but I'm not going to judge it by the Wii version in any case.
It will be interesting to see who they make the next Ide character (always slow, nearly always qualifies last and nearly always gets lapped if his engine doesn't go), probably Lopez

My review,

After following people cleany through the first couple of corners and overtaking a LAGTASTIC PJ he then shunted me from behind on the turn immediately after the first timing line (weather he drove into me or the laggy image hit me i dont know? But I do know he never stopped, so if he knew it was a shunt he's been naughty)
After that i caught DENMARK who was still taking it easy to avoid mistakes, I took an oppertunity to overtake him, on the outside, and promptly spun out infront of him, sorry if this inconvinienced you mate.
Laps later I was caught by the leaders, and made a hash of letting them by trying to keep off the racing line while still making it round corners, ended up fishtailing all over the shop while you were trying to pass.
Due to having no practice i spent the first several laps getting into a groove and because of that i couldnt even beat the AI, if the first several laps had been like the last dozen then i woulda finished with PJ

Pretty good race, qualified second, and stayed there into turn 1 :D YAY!!! lol.
Kept with Shaggy, putting on the pressure, to try and get him to make a mistake. I had a good run at him down into the hairpin on lap 1, but couldn't make anything of it. Every lap he was getting further and further away, and there was not much I could do, he was simply quicker than me.
I decided to pit a lap earlier than usual to try and keep with him and keep in his slip stream, but unfortunately he was too far ahead now, and this buggered up my race for later :(
I carried on racing, putting in the same lap times every single lap, making no mistakes and hoping that Ben would get caught out somewhere. Shaggy made his second pit stop and there were 3 laps left I believe, when I went round the last bend and managed to carry on as I had practiced and figured out that I could do a 1 stopper with the right technique. Unfortunately, having pitted a lap earlier than usual, I ran out of fuel on the last lap and Shaggy overtook me for the lead with only half a lap to go.
With that said, at least I only finished 3 seconds behind Shaggy as opposed to about 15-20 lol.

Good battle at the start Ben, I really enjoyed it, we need more races like this one, only next time, I intend to finish on top ;)

Ok, my quali laps weren't quite as hot as i'd hoped they would be but my last lap was good and it got me the pole. Turn one at Istanbul is a bit of a bottleneck and I braked late to give Kakundoo who qualified 2nd a wide berth to brake into, but it still set me up decently for turn 2. I had a slightly scruffy 1st lap, taking very wide lines in turns 3,4 and 5 and then I got a poor exit from turn 10 which gave Kak a run on me. I was still quite far ahead of him but he closed up on me at an alarming rate in my slipstream and I had to move off the racing line to go defensive, closing the door on him, but compromising my line for the ensuing corners. This pattern seemed to reoccur for the next few laps when I was spending too much time checking on where Jamie was instead of looking for the apexes.

I think Jamie must have gone wide into turn one on the 4th or 5th lap which gave me breathing space to press ahead which I was eventually able to do, getting more into my groove and setting a 1:25.7 on the way to my first pit stop. My out lap from this was scruffy so I couldn't better my fastest lap. I still wasn't able to shake off Jamie though, who was keeping in touch. Then it occured to me that Hemiata who was in 3rd (nice to have you back :) ) was probably going to do a one stopper like at Indi, so I put the foot down and managed a succession of low 1.26's in a row to try and pull away from the pack.

I pitted with 4 laps to go and noticed Jamie didn't pit with me, like he had done at the first round of stops. I botched my pitlane exit, getting a penalty and throwing away my best chance of securing another fast lap. Then another lap passed and Jamie hadn't pitted, then another! Gulp!!!! It became apparent when he didn't pit on lap 19 that he was trying to pull off a one stopper, so I pushed like an absolute mad man so that if he ran out of fuel, I would be close enough to pass him. I lit up the first sector green, 28.8xx 👍 then as I entered turn 8, joy of joys he had run out of fuel! So I lifted off going through turn 8 but then pressed on after as he wasn't far behind. I nailed the final 3 corners and secured the fastest lap 👍

Well I would have honestly felt cheated out of a win had Jamie run out of fuel but still finished ahead as doing this saves about 10-15 secs over pitting normally as the pitlane is that long at Istanbul. Thankfully it didn't cost me in the end, but it easily could have had I not put the boot down when I thought I was racing Hemi, when in fact I was racing a one stopping Jamie! Good racing at the start though Jamie, you were piling on the pressure and I very nearly cracked

Well done to my new team mate, Demarko. Sounds as if he aquitted himself well, finishing ahead of 2 other drivers and racing cleanly 👍 3 extra points in the bag, thank you very much :)

I'll post the tables later when we're sure about how it stands with Hemi's position.

I qualified 4th and got a poor start so dem pass me but he hit ginty on T6 so i was up to 3rd with HEMlata behind me. It stayed this way till lap 10 i think and i was coming up to lap scoop but he didn't slow down and i met him at T10 where i was going around the outside of him and he come over a nudged me off the track which put me 5th. I pitted early on lap 13 and after my team mate stopped i managed to be infront of him up to 4th. I was watching to see whem HEMlata was going to pit and on lap 18 we caught him up quite alot.( he hit the pit wall) and he didn't go in the next lap so we wasn't going to catch him. I got a 8 second penalty and ginty go past me.

I do feel abit cheated out of a position but if it stands then i will live with it. But i don't think ginty would somehow after shaggy told dem that you have to 2 stop before the race on the chat room.

Demarko was just asking how many times we would be pitting, I'm assuming he didn't know that 20 laps meant two stops. I wasn't saying you had to do 2 stops, and I hadn't been aware that a 1 stopper was so possible at this track. I think if you can genuinely pull off a one stopper then so be it, however if you run out of fuel, respawn and then gain from that it shouldn't be allowed, because then anyone could do that and gain over the 2 stoppers. Managing your fuel levels and pacing yourself accordingly is one thing, just skipping a pit stop and running out of fuel on purpose is another IMO.

In Hemi's case I'm not so sure he gained much from only doing one stop. He did crash at the entrance to the pitlane, though with that said I think at this particular track even that would save time rather than stopping twice as normal.

Thanks for letting me join and sorry for joining late. I ran about 8 laps of practice before the race and got my times reasonable (mid 1:26's) but only had one lap of qualifying so not much to brag about there. I'm well pleased that we didn't have a big shunt at turn 1 👍 :D although there was a shunt at turn 6 but I only got the aftermath on film :indiff: had a clean first half of race and managed to work my way up to P3 when King had an off :) but gave it back a few laps later as I had an off :dunce: then on my second pit stop I came in too hot and hit the wall :ouch: it spawned me on the track with enough fuel for another lap 💡 so I decided to go for it s I was only two laps shy of the finish :sly: then I ran out on the last lap :guilty: so it's not much on the video mates but here it is (sorry for the perpetual sun in the vid, I forgot to turn off the light ).

And I don't mind if I'm excluded from the finishing of P3 as I am not in this for the points or championship!

I would say he gain an advantage shaggy as myself, ginty and HEMlata was all together when i went in for my stop and we finished 15 seconds plus behind him.

Loved the laugh when you put it in the wall HEMlata

Hi all,
good race. I liked it. I look forward to the next race. I hope to prove better. It's hard to go with collisions

Yes mate, thanks for your participation 👍 You were formidable in some of the other races we did at other tracks. Hopefully you'll enjoy Monza a bit better though next sunday night. Are you able to make the last 4 races?

hiii (that bit was written by my g/f :) )

Well, I see Jordan has adapted to Brawn finding another team mate, by getting another one also. So, i've finally got a reason to do more than just show up and race, i've finally got something to do if we want to win the championship.

So what was the final result at turkey then do me and ginty move up a position.

To be honest I think after crashing and running out of fuel, and still finishing 17 seconds ahead of Ginty suggests that he probably had the edge over you anyway. When you were racing each other though, were you both in front of him before you went in for your final pit stops? If he was already in front of you I think he should keep the place. But if he leapfrogged you both as a result of that then I think that is an unfair advantage.

Yeah we was both ahead of him before we made are stops. And remember it probably is the slowest pits in the game it seems to drag.

Ahh ok. Fair enough, I think it would be sensible to impose a 25 second penalty on him. Obviously he wasn't trying to gain anything from it, but in the end he did so I think if Jamie agrees we'll give him that penalty and you and Ginty move up one place.

Please do as I don't want to unfairly take points away from championship runners :guilty: and King is correct that I was behind him and Ginty before my fubar at pit entry on my last pit stop

Yes of course I will be able to make the last 4 races :)

Ok then, now that's settled here are the tables:

I have now pulled out a 17 point gap on Jamie and I'm closing in on the title. If I can win the next two races with fastest lap then I will have retained my crown with two races to go, but this could be pretty unlikely with the slipstream battle that Monza is likely to be and Shanghai where I expect Jamie to flourish. Jordan edge out by a few more points to extend their lead to 9. Hopefully we will be able to keep this position now that we have a solid pairing of drivers for the first time since GT4 Genius was racing with us.

Please update the tables Jamie, along with the fastest laps and poles etc. etc. and if we could please have the weather for Monza please.

Monza is my birthday, can I pick the weather? I'd like it dry as a bone for sunday. I'll be doing some serious, hardcore practicing to take back the points lost in the WCC to Jordan. And i've got a mister FastDuck to catch up in the WDC :)

That was going to be my choice anyway.

Unless I pull a Raikkonen, my Championship is over lol. I very much doubt that I can gain 3-4 points on Shaggy each race unless for some reason I gain like a second in speed on each of the four tracks, including Suzuka which isn't my best track :( I'll give it my all to win some and go out on a high though, and hopefully claim the Constructors while i'm at it.
The only problem is, after purchasing Dragonball: Raging Blast, it's hard to even get home and do College work let-alone play F1, I think I'm a DBZ addict :D
