:S Damn, i'm really sorry, I didn't know we had a coming together, if so I would have waited. All I saw was you coming into the hairpin, and you were a little out of shape, so I took it really wide, making sure I didn't hit into you. Then because you were so out of shape going through the corners before, I thought you had just spun it, it's happened to me before lol.

And yeah I was putting the pressure on somewhat, I was a little worried myself tbh, there were times on the straights where I was a little too close for comfort and found myself braking pretty early to avoid incident.

No worries mate! That's why it's called practice  and I was WAY out of shape. I had dropped my right side tires off and went perpendicular to the track and as I was straightening it out between throttle/brake/left/right, I shot across the track as you were coming by. My front wing clipped your right rear tire. When you slowed, I thought I may have cut your tire down but when you didn't go in the pits I knew you were alright. I'm good with the way practice went :D

So kakundoo are we starting this weekend mate?

Hmm, I think we will have one more practice session this Sunday. The turn out wasn't amazing, only 3 people committed fully, well, actually 4 but GT4 was just a little late. There are 10 people in this Championship and around about half turned up, so I wouldn't mind the majority turning up this weekend as it is meant to be practice, so that we can get used to not hitting each other haha.

hi all I'd like to sign up to race in the championship & sign the contract if its still possible ?

AKA M001

No problem, your space was already reserved by King anyway. Good to have you on board, read the rules etc etc and I hope to see you in the Practice race this Sunday :)

Sorry about that, I was looking forward to it all day, then when I got back to my apartment there was two new people here so I had to say hello and introduce each other etc, so apologies. But its not going to happen next weekend.

My lap times are coming down fellas :sly: I set some of my personal best times last night :D unfortunately there was "game freeze" happening a lot so I cut my playing time short :grumpy: I can hardly wait until the opening event 👍 Practice this Sunday? I would like to start the season!!! :P

I hope everyone is ready for tonight's practice race. It is the final practice before the start of the season, so I wouldn't mind a nice turnout :), hope to see you all there!

I'm not 100% sure I will make it, but I may just pop in for the race tonight. Haven't had any practice but I'll have a go anyway. 👍

Edit: Oh wait, 9pm? Hmm, well I'll try to make it before the race ends....

Zeroduck1 DNF

Fastest Lap: Markk001 - 1:31.764

I have to make an apology to someone. I think it was Rob, or whoever was in the Ferrari on the first lap. I had just joined on the previous corner, completely missed the apex of course, then messed up the next corner as a result then got in the way of the Ferrari which I had no idea was anywhere near me. Sorry again. :guilty:

Also I was in a battle with Hemi for half a lap or so. What did you think of my defensive line through the hairpin, was it too aggressive, or reasonable? In hindsight I should have just let you passed, you were more than 1 second a lap faster than me. :nervous:

All in all a big wake up call to just how bad I am now. :dopey:

Congratulations to the front runners. 👍 And I hope the issues Zeroduck had can be sorted out.

Sorry I didn't manage to turn up, I don't think I can manage 9pm starts. Good luck with the rest of the championship though 👍 I think I'll concentrate on other games for a while.

Not a bad race for me. I started second because I couldn't get a good enough time in. I was about half a second off my best times. I had a good start and took first from Markk001 into the first corner. From what I saw there wasn't any real drama behind me but Mark was right on my tail, so I had to defend my place. He managed to take first on the long straight and I had to follow him for a bit from there.
I got a slip stream from him on the pit straight and took first by taking a nice, tight, clean line through the first corner. When I looked back, it seemed that Mark had taken a wider route through there and it hadn't really paid off and I believe he lost a place to King, maybe Duck as well.
Mark was regaining his places whilst I was trying to make a good getaway. He managed the fastest lap in this time, whether it was through draft I don't know, but I did see him take 2nd place down the straight, passed Duck and King. Shortly after Duck left and complained after that Mark had hit him....
A few laps later, when all had pitted, I was still going. I had managed to squeeze another lap out of the car and when I came out of the pits I noticed that Mark was once again on my tail. The first corner is a slow one and so there is no need to be hasty through there, however, Mark was a bit eager and spun me around and didn't wait....
The race was over for me from there, I had no chance of staying with Mark because he was faster and unfortunately I couldn't defend my position like I planned because Mark didn't wait for me.
I finished second, which is good for a practice, however, knowing that Mark hit/spun two people and didn't wait is a little worrying and for this I think I will give him a warning. Rules are rules and they must be followed if we are to have some nice clean racing. Yes, collisions will happen from time to time, but it is racing etiquette that you are to wait for that person and let them through, just like you would expect a backmarker to let you through. Obviously the warning is just there to make sure that Mark knows his mistakes and hopefully will act differently if there are future collisions. I hope you understand and I hope everyone enjoyed reading this essay of mine lol :D

EDIT: I shall tell Rob for you GT4, i'm sure there will be no hard feelings :)

All is well mate :) You did a great job 👍 and the defense was fine as I wasn't really close enough to try an overtake at that point :sly: I hope the overtaking move I did make didn't startle you  it was a bit risky but I thought I could get by without contact :scared: and after all it was just practice :D

I was surprised how far behind the pace you were Hemi! You were very quick in Bahrain. Obviously you're a lot better at some tracks than others, whereas I am quite good at all tracks, just not the fastest at every one lol.

No show from Shaggy and drama with Duck. Could it be that neither of the two reigning Champions may not win the World Championship? Could this well be the year of the underdogs. It will be fun to find out :D

i had a case of the twofers........2 wrecks, 2 penalties and 2 spins :banghead: that's why i was so far behind :ouch::grumpy::lol:

Oh I see. I had a flawless race, apart from when Mark spun me. Mainly because I enjoy racing at Shanghai, it's such a technical track and you can lose or gain time everywhere lol. I still think I could lower my lap times at least by another second, but first I would need to identify where and then how. My guessing from racing some people at Shanghai a couple of weeks ago is that I need to take a new approach to the first corner, because they were a lot faster through there. Maybe a new line through the long sweeping right hand bend before the long straight as well. Possibly the second corner as well....

Anyways, enough of my waffling. It's back to Bahrain for the start of the season! :D

Well after watching those, I can honestly say that Mark made no mistakes. He overtook Duck and King very cleanly, it looked more like Duck and King just outbraked each other.

And it was quite clear that Mark had no idea that he had collided with me since there was no damage to his car and on his screen, I was going wide, when actually I was not. So I will remove the warning.

Also, I will encourage people to video their race. Not only is it quite fun to watch, but it puts pay to wrong decisions from incidents :)

These show the inconsistency of now the game views the closeness of the racing. In one of our practices Shaggy and I had a very good and close scrap without any contact but I'm sure all of you have had incidents where you know you were hit by someone and that someone said they didn't and vise versa. Unless everyone has video like Mark did, how would one prove their case? I have video but don't have the editing software. It would then be left up to one's word and if any witnesses saw from thier view which would still be different from what may have actually happened and the Stewards would have to make a decision. It happened several times in the first championship that I played in last year. There were some hard things said, some feelings hurt and some dropped out of the championship which made it not as much fun. There is a solution to this problem and that is turn the collisions off. It would eliminate car to car collisions but not car to wall so if one messed up they would still substain damage and we could have a gentlemens rule of not driving through someone to make a pass. What do y'all think?

Hmm...that's a difficult decision to make. Although collisions can sometimes cause some aggrovation, I do like them on as it makes it more realistic, especially as you can defend your position from a possible faster racer.

Although, I do like your idea of not being able to drive through people. It would make it easier to avoid incidents and if everyone stuck to the rules, then you could defend your position as well....

I don't mind having collision off but sometimes you will go through them so then i take it you give the position back to them if you do that.

Yes, that makes sense King. However, thinking about it, someone could easily exploit that by braking early, and if the person goes through them, then they would have to slow right down, giving the person ahead an advantage into the next corner. Granted, this can happen with collisions on, but with collisions on, the person ahead is at just as much risk.

Also, just to add, with collisions on, you get the feeling of pressure when someone starts to catch you up, especially if they were already quite close and this produces a much more realistic F1 experience.

I think, for now, I am going to keep collisions on until someone can convince me that it is disastrous. The previous Championship was intense, competitive, interesting and successful and I want to duplicate that success. So for now, the setup will stay the same.

Im cool with that i do get what your saying kakundoo. How hard would turn one be if you had collision off as you would go through someone mostly every race.lol.

Not looking forward to bahrain not one of my favourite tracks at all.

Seriously? How strange, I thought Bahrain was a track everyone enjoyed because it was so easy lol. I think you better put some practice in then because Bahrain will be VERY competitive this season. I don't know who will win but i'm pretty sure there will be some major battles all the way through the pack.

Edit: Has anyone seen or heard anything from crooky? I don't think it's fair that he hasn't shown up for the practices. If this continues then I may open up a spot at Team Lotus...

Although if anyone wants to take his place (if he's a no show at Bahrain), I'm thinking maybe Appie or Ardius, then the points would go to Lotus. Just as a fill in for now until we hear anything from crooky stating otherwise.

From the video it shows that you were lagging when you came out of the pits. However it clearly shows on the map that you had stopped soon after, so it's clear that there had been contact.

Yes that was why I introduced the rule originally for waiting for each other and most importantly, watching what happens to each other. If you overtake someone and then you see them spinning off into the barriers, its pretty obvious you've hit them through lag. It doesn't take a lot of effort to stop and wait and allow the offended driver back past, you just have to keep an eye on what happens to each other and keep in mind the lag issues.

I hated collisions off, it really ruins the experience for me because it just becomes a hotlap-race with little race tactics involved and less pressure on people to overtake cleanly. The lag does it make it more difficult than it should be but taking collisions off is overkill in my opinion, it isn't too hard to keep an eye on each other and be more careful.

You make a good point Fishfash, nice to have an experienced voice to help us out :)

In the video Kak's car is lagging and very erratic. How would you perceive going forward if it was you in Mark's car? I wouldn't have stopped as I would have thought that as erratic as his car was that it may have been the problem and not contact. Kak's car is flashing so contact should not be an issue yet it was. You can clearly hear Mark on and off the throttle as Kak's car erratically veered out of pit lane in front of Mark and then suddenly appeared 2 more times in front of him. Now why should one wait for contacted being made when it is clearly the systems fault. There is no solution that will cure all the problems of this game and these arguments/discussions can go on forever but that is why I would say the racing would be better with collisions off. The gentlements agreement for not passing through a vehicle would be no different than the one that is in place for the contact and wait - IMHO - and would make the racing closer.
