BRILLIANT RACE!

Managed 2nd in Quali, wasn't expecting it lol. Into the 1st corner I managed to sneak passed Shaggy and saw the collision between Shaggy and Duck in my mirrors. On lap 2, Hemi hit me but I wasn't bothered lol, I caught up to GT4 and Crooky a lap later and managed to squeeze passed GT4 and on the straight, Crooky kindly moved over when I was in his slip stream, possibly because he takes a different line. From there I just kind of raced on my own, my best was 1:30.742. Good racing everyone!! :D

Oh and Rob told me before the race that he was in Lotus because he thought I was lol, he actually wanted to be in Brawn haha, so, erm, yeah lol.

'Squeeze' certainly being the operative word there Kakundoo. So it was Duck who crashed into me on the straight? No excuses for that. He's usually much more careful.

You didnt quite squeeze past me:

Sadly though that ended when I slowed for a corner and Kak wasnt expecting early braking. But I had to because I was too close to Crooky.

You ripped the back of my car to shreds in that one. I suspected you didnt notice because you have waited for me before, it was just a pitty because everything was going really well for me up until that point. After that whilst recovering I managed to get in the way of two cars, it was so bad I just decided to skip the corner and get the penalty and even then I still think I was the cause of them tripping over each other, not sure who it was though.

Have to say, this lag bubble really is ruining everything. You have to be so careful, careful to the extent that any overtaking manouvre is mega dangerous. I think i'll just have to forget about trying any outbraking manouvres unless I'm at least level with the car i'm trying to get past. For my two shunts with Hemi, I wasn't even trying to overtake him, I was just on his tail. Can't tell you how sorry I am about those and how embarrassing they are. Before this race I had somewhat of a reputation as a clean racer.

OH NO! I'm really sorry GT4, if I had of known, I would have waited. There are no excuses :(, I hope you can forgive me...

Some how I'll find away, but it'll take time.

I dont mind, you clearly didnt know anything about it.
Perhaps with the large lag bubble, due to the cross-Atlantic racing, we should change the rules slightly? I'm not a big fan of driving with collisions off, it takes a lot away from the experience.

Collisions off can be fun, but it's rubbish if there's someone who's clearly faster than the rest, as will be the case with that guy Mark I suspect.

I qualified 6th i think which wasn't to bad. It was a track i don't like so wasn't thinking i would be at the front. I see everyone hit each other and was up to 4th at one point but gt4 was always close to me. After the second stop gt4 moved ahead of me by a second so i thought i could get him and i did on the start finish straight on lap 18 and got 4th back. But going up to turn three his front wing caught my right back tyre a i got a puncher. That was the end of the race for me and had to come home in 8th.

I didn't seem to have a problem with lag i got right up behind people at some point.

So sorry, at that corner I braked earlier then you so I was 99% sure you would have loads of space to take any line you wanted, then you just seemed to slide wide so I assumed you braked too late. When you started falling back I thought you might of had an incident with Zeroduck when you rejoined the racing line.
Sorry again.

I hope no-one has a problem that Rob was meant to be in Brawn - do they?

And I really enjoyed the race everyone tonight. It will go down in my books as one of my favourites. I hope the next can be just as exciting :)

Shag if your talking about the incident i think your talking about, you went off track in the turn, i went to the outside to miss you, when you came back on track i was beside you, on the outside, and you came all the way over to the racing line, the only problem with that was that i was beside you, i went as far as i could go to the left without going off track, when we made contact we both crashed, i couldnt move over anymore than i did, if you go off track and come back on its your responsability to make sure its clear to move back into the racing line, i waited on you and king even though that accident wasnt my fault

OK, apologies Duck. I mustn't have realised you were there at all. An almost identical accident happened then between Kak and me at the Canadian GP last season, that time he was at fault.

BTW I took corner one perfect, but was nudged wide by Kakundoo and as I came back onto the track I thought I was ahead of everyone. Again, big apologies. Had I known you were there I would have given you a far, far wider berth because I know that racing literally side by side in this game always ends in carbon fiber everywhere. I'm tempted if that happens again to use the 3rd person camera view. It's sloppy, and not the fastest camera angle to use but it'll give a far better perspective of what's going on around us. Apologies again Duck, I shouldn't have accused you of something before I had the facts. Seems i've made a right arse out of myself in this race.

Hey these races sound interesting. Too bad I cant get online or I'd join you all. I live in the U.S.
Will any of you video tape one for all to see? I've just turned into a F1 maniac as I used to drag race in real life. Tried other games and they are great but this F1 CE is the one!! Speed speed and more speed. Feels like I'm drag racing from turn to turn:nervous:
Just asking! Have a great day all:tup:

I will be videoing all the races providing my system doesn't fail. However each one will be over 30 minutes long so I have to edit them down to a up loadable size. This process will take a few hours so my posts will be much later than everybody else's. They will be posted on YouTube and linked here for all to see :D

Now to the racing action...........and boy was there  First, my apologies to Kak for trying to punt him into next week :guilty: but as you can see in the clip I was clearly surprised at your braking point as it was noticeably sooner than the previous lap, still, no excuses, it was my fault. No worries Shag on our twofer but I was wondering about that little dance you did after the second one :odd:  By then I think we were at the back of the field...........way back. So my strategy changed. Naturally trying to get as far up the leader board as I could, I managed 2 successful overtakes before my first pit stop. I believe they were clean and not too risky as the video shows 👍 With practically everybody on the same pit strategy, I changed up and pitted early for my second stop ;) This allowed me to not be near anyone so I could just concentrate on putting in some fast laps :sly: IT WORKED!! as I passed 5 cars on lap 16 as they were all in the pits :P I went on to finish P2 :) I would also like to congratulate Kak for his win and Shaggy & Kak for stepping up their game in Q3 being P1 and P2, respectfully :gtpflag:

Oh, and my system locked up after the race when we were in chat :ouch: so I just turned it off. Hope y'all didn't think I was mad and left in a huff :dopey:

Here is the video link. It's 8 minutes and 30 seconds long and I still didn't get all the action in the clip  and Shaggy I believe I would have gotten fast lap if I had not messed up the last turn of the last lap as you can see I had run my fastest two sectors and was up by 2 tenths at that point. Oh well, shoulda, woulda, coulda, right :banghead: LOL

Wow, I didn't realise how hectic the race was for everyone else lol. Great vid Hemi and you did fantastically well to finish in second after so many knock backs!

Well done all on some great racing, this is what it's all about :D

Hemi, I'm wondering if GT5 will have the kind of driving aid that you used in today's race. But I digress.:sly:

About the only thing I found that I was pretty good at during Season 2 in the NTSC division was pit stops. If I get the timing just right, I could have a sub-7 second pitstop. But like I was told a few times, experience playing the game will make me better at it. Only thing is I've only touched it a couple of times since that season ended.:dunce:

One thing I hope CodeMasters does with their try at making a F1 game is that they would have a full grid capacity for their online races and not half-grid max for the online players in F1:CE.

LOL - I don't know so I guess only time will tell ;) I will say this about larger grids. Keep in mind that the more cars in the race whether it be AI or not will take performance from the PS3 system engine and that will reduce the game play and increase the lag. One of the biggest problems with the lagging effect is all the competitor's online connection speed, that is why on GT5P you have different sized fields in their races. The smaller fields are for those who don't have optimal connections. I will also say I would like bigger fields but I want good game play and will give up those larger fields to have the best racing possible :D I really like GT5P's online experience and I can only hope they improve it for GT5 👍

Hi guys, I would like to hugely apologise for missing the 1st race of the season.

Tbh i completely forgot and have not been on PS3 recently, been busy irl. I will defo be more reliable for the rest of the season. No doubt.

Huge apologies again.

Well done Kak

Looks like a great race

Kak, there's a mistake in the constructor's table, Brawn should have 16 points instead of 14. Also, is it going to be dry at Sepang?

BTW, upon watching HEMI's clip of the race-start again, I have to say I feel slightly aggrieved at what went on.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy6FqsvVDvA

I knew I was pushed wide into turn one. As you can see in the video, I had the racing line and made the apex just as Kakundoo goes into my side, sending me wide and out of shape for turns 2 and 3. Now this is a simple racing incident, and I have no doubt that you stood on the brakes to try and avoid me, but once you pushed me wide you drove on, didn't wait and escaped all the subsequent chaos behind you. It was a simple racing incident for which I wasn't at fault, and I'm happy to let this one go, but i'd fully expect you to wait for me in the future Kakundoo. It doesn't mean stopping dead on the track either, but just dulling the revs till I get past is what should have been done.

Also, although I can see that I played my part in instigating the crash between myself and Duck straight after that, I'll have to retract some of my apology as well. As I went off the track at turn 3 and came back on, yes you were pushed wide Duck, but you were actually behind me, I did have the racing line. And the contact we made wasn't side by side, it was you crashing diagonally into my left rear tyre, although clearly you couldn't have helped this as when you went off track you had lost control of the car. For sure, I accept my part in that you could have done with a lot more room as I came back onto the track, but I was ahead of you and hand on heart I had no idea you were there. Since you could see me you may have eased off slightly to avoid the colision, but equally I accept I could have checked with a different camera angle to see if the racing line was clear as I came back onto it. But anyway, you waited for me and King so I'm not getting at you at all mate, I just realised after watching the video that I believe I was wrong to have accepted full blame for the incident.

Granted, as you can see later on in the video, I didn't exactly cover myself in glory with my punts on HEMIata, which I'm genuinely embarrassed about. However, I did at least wait for him, just as I waited for GT4genius when we had our moment, but there were two crashes into me where the person I was racing simply drove on. By the sounds of it my team mate suffered the same fate in an incident with Kakundoo, which he assures us he did not realise had happened, so fair enough with regards to that.

I promise to be a lot more careful in the following races, I honestly think i've learnt a huge amount from that race, as I never had one like it last season. But please, PLEASE could people be careful to always cede position to an opposing driver if they make contact on them which affects them in an adverse way.

EDIT: Lol Hemi, the reason for that bizarre dance was an attempt of sorts to apologise to you, because I figured you must have been seriously pissed off, as I no doubt would have been if I got crashed into 2 laps in a row by the same driver at the same corner. I usually weave on a straight to say thanks, equally, I'll weave to say sorry. I hope you didn't think I was mocking you as it might have looked re-watching that video. I weaved also to thank GT4G who seemed to let me past at one point on the main straight. Just remembering, I think he let me past because I was yet to pit and he had already done, saving us both time no doubt.

I'm in on this. I'm picking up a european copy of this soon, and want to race with you guys. Even if I have to make a team and drive by myself.

Shaggy you were complaining that Kakundoo didn't wait for you but when you and duck crashed on the first lap you took me out and I went down to last and neither of you waited for me.
I'm only telling you becasue you were moaning that people didn't wait for you but you did the exact same thing to me.

@ Shaggy,
You must remember that although it is clear in Hemi's footage that Kakundoo hit you, it may not have been so clear on kakundoo's screen, everyone experiences different levels of lag which is why we're having such difficulties.

And when I slowed on the straight (in case team tactics aren't allowed) it was purely because I couldnt find a gear. It had nothing to do with you being my team mate and lapping nealy 2 seconds a lap faster than me. If we find ourselves in that situation again I'll weave slightly to let you know that I'm aware of you, and if I weave its highly likely that I'll 'miss' the following apex. ;) Be careful if I dont weave though because it'll mean i dont know your their. 👍

Well that's not the exact same thing at all though is it Rob? I spun during that crash and had no idea who we hit or who hit us. Only now is it even apparent that 4 cars were involved in the crash - Duck, you, Kingmart1n and myself. That was a crash that you got caught up in unfortunately. It doesn't mean I crashed into you, gained an advantage and didn't wait. There is a pretty big difference. Later on in the race, Duck spun in the exact same point and I crashed into him without having any time to react. So by your logic he should have waited for me? Well of course he didn't and nor did I expect him to, it was just an accident that no one gained anything from, much like the crash at the start.

Sorry I don't buy that on this occasion. As you can see if you all watch the video again, the nose of Kakundoo's car crashes into the side of my car. I don't see how he couldn't have noticed that, no matter how much lag there was. Hypothetically, if you go into a right hander side by side with someone - you holding the inside line - then obviously it's very easy to hit someone out of the way and not realise it, in which case i'd accept that as a given that it was completely innocent. But we weren't side by side at all, I was in front, turned into the corner and the nose of his car knocked the side of my car our of the way.

I don't want to come across as some sort of kill-joy when i'm just voicing a legitimate opinion to which Rob described as 'moaning'. I just find it galling that the race victor says he 'squeezed' past two opponents on his way to victory, when in fact, they were knocked out of the way by him. Anyway, i've said my piece and I'll drop it now.

So, can I make a late entry with Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro? With first driver PJ?

There's only 5 teams available. Mark for Red Bull seems to be the only driver to have gone completely AWOL in which case his seat might become free, but I have no idea if that's necessarily the case, you need to ask Kingmart1n his team mate.
