Thanks shaggy, just come out of practicing and got a 1,15,009 it was a in lap but was on it, i reckon it would of been a 1,15,2 if the last corner was spot on like the others ones was.

Bah! No fair :yuck:

That's kind of like organising a 5-a-side tournament with 10 fatties, then one of them pulls out and the other team drafts in Lionel Messi as his replacement.

I'm only kidding, it'll be good to have you back on board Gyles, though I thought having Jamie, Duck, Hemi, King and now Ginty as rivals for the race victory was hard enough already :(

BTW Jamie, I think you've given Kingmart1n and Red Bull an extra point, they should be one less. That said, King does deserve an extra point though after holding you off for that long in Melbourne

LOL, Shaggy I do like your clichés :)

Wow that is an excellent time, all the guys from last season and the guys from across the pond have upped their game 👍

can't wait for sundays race really enjoyed melbourn. just been practicing at imoladoing times of 1 15.8s&1 16 6s need more practice to keep up with my team mate though

Thanks gyles i reckon late 1,14 i might be able to get though.
Im off this week if anyone is about for a good old practice session

:nervous: 1:15s, I haven't been able to break into the 1:16s consistently yet! Damn, I am going to have to get my head down and do 10,000 laps of practice before Sunday, that should be enough XD lmao.

I have just finished a practice session and GINTY just hit a 1,14,1 on his inlap. Still i did beat him by +47 seconds.:sly:

That's insanely fast. That's like Gyles on a hotlap, if not even faster. BTW are you sure it wasn't his out-lap? You only gain about a tenth or two on your in-lap. The out-lap has the potential to be much faster.

No im sure that was his inlap checked the map after he took the fastest lap from me and he was in the pits. What times have you been getting shaggy?

I think it depends what team you are in. Some teams are placed after the finish line and some teams before the finish line. So faster laps could be either on an in-lap or an out-lap.

At Imola it will always be your in lap as the timing line is just after you enter pit road. When you run your practices, watch your timer on your in lap and you will see it trip just when the AI takes over. Cutting out that last chicane can easily knock off a half second.

I suppose that is a crum of comfort, my comparitive lap times have been without draft. Still, that is mighty fast. Could we be looking at a Red Bull 1-2?

Yes, that is more comforting lol. And yes, I do think that Red Bull could get their first win, possibly with a 1-2 finish. It should be an interesting one nonetheless.

Speaking of which, Red Bull still have a point too many in the constructors table, they should be on 12. Given their new found strength we don't want to be giving them points for free :scared:

For me the timer trips on the white line after the entrance to the pit lane, gaining me only a tenth or two at most.

I've found practicing for Imola to be very unsual. At most tracks, you know exactly where you've gone wrong if you're losing time but at Imola I do what I think to be a reasonable lap and only come out with a 1:16.5, then I do a lap that I think to not be much faster and the timing screen says 1:15.4 or something. This isn't including in-laps or out-laps. Also, I reckon an out-lap gives you potentially a full second advantage if you can make your tyres work.

It's exactly the same for me Shaggy. I was four tenths down in my first sector and ended up getting a lap that was my best one, it really didn't make sense.
And yes, I agree that out-laps are much quicker as long you can warm up the tyres very quickly, so that you don't overshoot any apexes, or have to brake earlier than usual.

I seem to get only one out lap like that the other starts me at 30 seconds. I seem to be hitting mid 1,15s to low 1,16s all the time just got to get rid of the penalties. Red bull 1-2 are you forgetting the pro is back this week, GYLES

Yes lol, and I am looking forward to having him on my team. But, as he stated he hasn't been on in a while, and probably won't practice much until Sunday either, so will probably get quite a few penalties, just like the rest of us.

Don't worry about me guys, I haven't played the game in ages. If you have a look at last seasons race report and here is my quote :yuck:

Oh, I will try my best not to finish last

Terrible race for me, and that will be the last time I will be using Auto gears 👎

There was no fun today and I had 6 penalties and 3 spins. Just had no consistency and was lapping around the high 1:15's and mid 1:16's. Managed to do a lucky lap of 1:14.8 but that was just a one off.

Only managed around 11 laps with no mistakes. :nervous:

Just as well GT and Shaggy were not here today, otherwise I would have finished 3rd.

Ok gyles but still think i will be behind you. I only seem to get penalties when i really push hard trying 2 get a lap in the 1,14s which still hasn't happened yet.

You say that GINTY, but what if the man with no mistakes isn't as quick as the man in front, and although the man in front is making mistakes, the man making no mistakes is not quick enough to catch the fast man XD lol.

As RACECAR did last season, i'm going to give a real world reference to the tracks we're doing each week, using videos from the 2006 World Championship. Here's Schumi pounding around Imola for the final time:

I have to say, this isn't exactly the best video to start this with as Imola IRL and Imola in F1 CE look very different :dunce:, which is weird because most of the tracks in this game are modelled very accurately IMO. Also if you think lapping in the 1:22's is good judging by that video, expect to be lapped several times

Lol, I think that the real track does look a lot like the track in F1 CE, the only things that are different are the two chicanes, especially the final one.
