Dude, Shark....I'm sick of your endless yammering, your constant complaining and most of all the ridiculous driving lines you're choosing in race. I've held it in for too long. All the complaints that never seem to be your fault....its just stressing me out. :banghead:

UPDATE: Yea and I please dont send another pic of your NSX...I dont care

Fine, if that's how everyone really feels, I guess ssyd was right. Whatever. Go live in your boring world with your boring races and tell everyone about that clean pass you did. I'm sure everyone really cares. The fact of the matter is whether you like me or not, I bring liveliness to the room. If I stop talking for 5 minutes, the room is basically silent. Whatever...

Peace out.

p.s. You're jealous

My apologies. Shark wouldn't answer me and stand up for himself when I asked who it was so I made an assumption based on who was behind me in the running order. The guy's been racing with us for 4 days yet he acts like hot **** and is starting **** with people who've been around since this thread was put up. Now he's hosting a room to his preferred settings because he's too impatient to wait for Chuyler to put up HIS lobby.

Looks like I'm going to have to give up racing with you guys because my PS3 can't handle 16 cars on track. When I get into a large group of traffic the framerate drops and I think that's when the lag starts.

Have fun with Shark's self-indulgent gloating and bragging about his alcoholism.

I volunteered to host a room since chuyler wasn't going to be on till late tonight. I ran it with his theme and by his rules. You're still going on about something that happened 2 days ago. Can we squash this already?

The only thing that needs squashing is your fixation about driving loose and on the edge.

If Ricky Bobby, Vin diesel, Charlie Sheen and Cole Trickle have taught me anything, it's this:

If you ain't first, you're last. Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning. I have one speed, I have one gear: go! There's nothing I can't do with a race car.

Sup.

next theme needs to be tank car battle royal get this stuff out of your systems

actually i thought it was a pretty clean night for everyone on the track. that i could see anyway. enjoyed trouncing everyone on the 'ring. :D

ragtop night = s2k night. :D

If anyone is getting booted, its going to be GT-NUR. Evidence forthcoming of very poor conduct with me.

But in the meantime...enjoy my run at HSR with suspension damage. I appologized to WiiFreak in game for coming up along side him (1:15 in the video). I didn't realize everyone was going to be braking that hard on that turn (I was coasting around it in warmups). As soon as I lifted off the gas my car started understeering. I thought I was going come in tight and Wii was in the process of regaining some grip and we collided. Bad move on my part.

i wish they would sort the tracks by weather and then by taste to make the menus easier to navigate

Nah, they should still go by hue and number of spectators. 👍

MikeTheHockeyFan, you made a couple passes on me that I didn't even think would be possible, nice racing. My battle with Brandofo (I think) on Suzuka was a blast also. It was great to see how my low downforce loose setup stacked up against your huge wing. The S2Ks were definitely the car to beat.

I have a couple ideas to make the racing more competitive and cleaner. We should establish a benchmark time on a track or two. Say Tsukuba and Grand Valley East or Cape Ring South. This way people can tune with a goal and know relatively quickly if there car is going to be off the pace or not. I also think we should have more structured times for free run/quali sessions before the race, something like 30 minutes. It's difficult to leave enough time for tuning and laying down a quali time when you don't know how much time you have.

I've got a mic now also.

RE: GT-NUR, I say boot him. He showed no regard for other drivers lines on Tsukuba especially.

Sorry for my blocking at the very end of the HSR race, my F1 habits got the best of me. How about a one move rule?

I am reviewing my replays now. GT-NUR tried a grass pass at Tsukuba and almost spun me. I'm not sure how/why he thought it was going to work. I made contact with him earlier on one of the hairpins so maybe it was retribution, I don't know.

I also reviewed the first lap stack-up which sent me spinning into last place. Although GT-NUR was involved, I cannot place blame on him. 4 cars were involved and it was a confusing incident. GT-NUR was in the back, Diabolic took an inside line but went a little wide. GT hit Diabolic, diabolic knocked gShark sideways. gShark knocked me sideways. I got the brunt of it and when I lifted off the throttle to correct I was plowed over.

Later, Booch and I discussed one of my passes on the hairpin. I had suggested people not attempt passing on the narrow elbo turns (turns 8 and 9 below). I came inside after that on the hairpin (turn 11). I got my nose in front before my turn-in, but Booch was planning to late apex and turned into me and bounced off. Anyway, we discussed and I just let him by in hopes of getting another passing opportunity. I did...but running wide to avoid gShark it mowed some grass. Then again at turn 9 Booch spun out and I put one wheel on the green and that was enough to spin my car instantly.

Since both Suzuka and Tsukuba are littered with hairpins. I've got a question, is it possible, and or clean racing to pass on entry to the hairpin if both cars are side by side before turn in? When does 2-wide racing come into affect? Side-by-side before braking? Or side-by-side before turn-in? Tsukuba is a perfect example of where you can out brake someone and steal the inside line...if you can hold inside for the entire turn...but I'm not sure whether that's a legal pass.

I wish GT5 supported the G27 and i could map some buttons on the wheel to look left/right. It would make situational awareness a lot better. Also, if we zoom in our track maps it can help with knowing when we have a car right next to us. I know it isn't always convenient to have the map zoomed in, but it helps with rubbing/contact

The passing zones on Suzuka are usually into 1-2, the Hairpin(11), the run down to Spoon (13) through 200R (12), the Crossover straight, and the exit of 130R (14) into 15-16-17.

In my opinion if you're coming up to a hairpin along side a car (1/2 or more along side) or have a substantial run on him and know you can out brake him I say the corner is up for grabs. It comes down to driver confidence, judgement, and knowledge of the two cars involved. These are some of the best passing zones if you can manage it.

Pretty extreme example in this video, Hamilton on Raikkonen. Hamilton knows he can out brake Kimi, pulls off the pass clean.

Another one into the hairpin at the Canadian GP.

My issue with the turn 11 bump was that, in my opinion and from what i experienced on the track, it felt like the line you took was going to cause contact. There just wasn't any way you could have made a clean pass as i went from out-in-out and it seemed like you were going in-in-out. I didn't look at the replay, as it isn't a big deal, i'm not going to throw any poop at you and cry about the series being ruined and threaten to quit, haha. In my opinion, if you can't pass cleanly, you shouldn't pass, especially when diving for the inside line as the person attempting to pass has nothing to lose if there is contact, while the person in front/outside gets punted into the grass/dirt.

Also, you were clearly much faster on the straights and you would have passed me easily after turn 11 if you had just stayed close.

Usually what happens in an over under like that is that the blue car out brakes and passes into the turn, the red car holds the "normal" line usually re overtaking the blue car at apex, and on exit the blue car dives down the inside to get a run down the straight.

Hi guys I've always wanted to join this 450PP races. Maybe one day I'll find the loby and hope you guys don't mind me hopping in.

Anyway nice diagram above. If I can comment. I think the red car has the right of way imho. The blue car looks like it taking its time to take the corner and the the red car is taking the apex correctly and has the speed and momentum to overtake. The blue car is slowing down and can easily brake to avoid collision. But it looks like the red car is driving aggressively to try overtake at the turn. I think in PP limited races, it is wise to overtake on a straight as for sure some cars will have more HP than others. The diagram is like this, the red car is actually racing while the blue car is tracking.

Well I'm learning. Racing online is not A-spec. I'm still waiting for the video to process but your drawing is correct. You were attempting to follow gShark's line exactly out-in-out and I was shooting for an in-in-mid. I went real tight hoping not to disrupt your line but you turned in on me and we bumped literally side by side. It wasn't a pit maneuver (my front with your rear) but the contact was enough to break your traction.

I ususally do in-in-out when around other cars just because I don't want to under-brake and punt. I also do in-in-out to prevent someone behind me from coming up inside. I should try some out-out-in lines some time provided I can improve my reaction time for braking. I race using right-foot gas/brake so if someone brakes hard in front of me unexpectedly I never have enough time to slam the brakes.

The blue car is actually braking harder and has a higher corner entry speed than the red one and passing on entry. At apex the red car is faster and usually even with or ahead of the blue car. On exit the red car is defending as the blue car has a higher exit speed.

Most people use two feet when racing, it offers much better control of load transfer, control through corners, and better braking reaction times.

I was doing my best to go slow-in and was too conservative for a pack turn. The next thing I knew, my car speed jumped 20mph and I an accident unfolded. Over mic I tried to explain that I caused the accident due to being hit from behind. I spend most of my time on the initial lap just trying to avoid accident, but even on the last lap I'll let people by who I know are quicker. I also did my best to make sure my heavily damaged car would not cause any accidents which was a chore. If anyone has the Daytona replay from last night...my last two laps were an amazing display of luck and ....luck.

This^

Left foot braking is the way to go. Even if I'm running with the clutch enabled I'll left foot brake when I'm not down shifting.

Yeah, i'll have to try it some night on an easy track. I just have better control with my right foot...and that's how I drive IRL since I drive stick...and I'm tall with big feet and can't really get my left foot onto the brake pedal.

lots of fun last night!. good race on suzuka, even if i finished sixth. i have a great battle whit the red corvette whit a beautiful overtake on the last turn. on tokio i finished first, at ring my car is dead after hitting chuyler mr2 (that was damaged too) that start very slow from the grid. at high speed ring i was so sleepy that i ran into a wall:lol: for the next time i suggest to return to 20 laps race. the one on deep forest was really challenging and add some strategy. i personally think that if we want to see more overtakes and more balanced race we should race on comfort soft (that i personally like) or at least sport hard. whit this type of tires the breacking becomes longer, this encourage overtakes. and if your car its slower than another model your driving can make differance becouse there is less grip! look at last night, almost 16 s2000. what do you think about it?

I don't place blame on anyone. We're going to continue to have these lap 1 fender benders until everyone learns how to race 2-wide at a slower pace. I know some people don't have a wheel that allows them to glance left/right and that makes it tough. In general though, each night gets a little better.

BTW, I hate false-start. For some reason when I switch from brake to gas nothing happens...I have to pump the gas pedal to get the car to move. I don't get a penalty, I just don't launch. Should I be revving the engine with my foot on the brake or what? What exactly is false-start supposed to do...aside from cause pileups when people get penalties?

For longer races, would anyone be interested in a rolling pace lap with a single-file start? Obviously would only work for short tracks but it might clean things up for long races.

I think we should ban the S2000 from competing hahahaha
I thought my MR2 had a shot at taking down the S2000. I think Tokyo was my best finish (the only finish that didn't involve some sort of accident). Given more laps I may have been able to adjust my braking points to get around the two leaders. I had some understeer issues that could use some work but straight line speed (as Booch and gShark can attest) was amazing.

But in the meantime...enjoy my run at HSR with suspension damage.

On that last corner, I had 2nd place in hand. Passing Chulyer and Mike on the inside then Graham got loose (which I wasnt expecting at all) and you just see my car fade off in Chulyer's rearview :(

PS: I feather throttle at start w/brake applied for false start races. I didnt mean to sound to defensive while explaining my motive for braking.

Some cars are easier to launch than others. I recall a race last week when my Porsche had a terrific launch and i got off to a good lead...which i promptly took myself out of the race by going into the dirt.

Ok here we go. Video of the Suzuka crash. It was a pileup. GT-NUR was pushing a little hard but I think its just a bad experience. Everyone was on the gas and when Diablo got a boost of speed it simply had a chain reaction. I've moved on though.

Up for discussion still is my pass attempt at turn 11, the hairpin. I'd like to know if I was in the wrong. In retrospect, I should have waited and could have passed both cars on the straight...but I was itching to catch make back time after the accident.

Next is a video from Tsukuba. GT-NUR was aggressive again and almost pit maneuvered me. Luckily I regained control though. I had no idea he was back there. He had some extra speed from that corner but I was on the typical driving line for that turn.

Also discuss some of my brake zone passes. Should I avoid making passes that late in the hairpin? At Tsukuba, it can often times be the only place to pass. Let me know if I need to dial back the aggression a little.
