fresh tracks can be built as often as you want tho... ?
If there was a better track editor I would agree, but I can spend hours messing with the settings and not come up with something fun to drive. I have yet to create an Eifle circuit worth racing more than one lap on. They just don't play out like real circuits because they have straights that are too long, turns that are too wide, elevation changes that are unrealistic, and brake zones that are blind.

I like tracks with 3-5 brake zones that are easy to spot and master. I've managed to make a few with Toscana and Mt. Aso but when we play them online, there just isn't the same level of competition as other circuits.

Ehh, I only play FPS on the PC with a mouse. I played Left4Dead2 to death last year but eventually got bored with it. Just like GT5, it can be very difficult to get a good game going...and when you do it usually only lasts about 10-15 minutes before someone rage quits.

I loved the first one. I'm looking forward to the second.

When they first talked about the course maker...I always thought it would be like the map editor in Far cry...I was wrong lol!

So.....racing tonight??

Nick - that farcry map maker is amazing....when they first talked about the course maker, I was dying to make a map of the local track around here...I would LOVE to race around Calabogie in GT5...I really wish they do something more custom in the future.

Yeah, I'll open a room around 10.

I cannot imagine how the popularity of the game would have exploded if you could make truly custom courses, but then the lawsuits would've exploded as well.

Yeah, I'll open a room around 10.

I'll try to make it. I'm really really liking Fuji (cause no one else seems to). I was able to keep up with and pass drivers who were faster than me last night. It was awesome.

Still looking for something else that is as fast as the RX-8. I've found several others that I enjoy driving, but they are a second or more slower than I am in the RX-8 at Tsukuba, and I'm more than second slower than Huyler in the RX-8 at Tsukuba. :(

On the FPS on console front, a friend pointed me to the Eagle Eye (http://www.penguinunited.com/). It looks cool. There is a MMOFPS coming out (maybe) that is related to Eve Online called Dust 514. It may be limited to consoles, so I wasn't very interested.

Now I might be.

And again. This time, racist idiots with penalties on.

How do you label your room "pros only" and everyone there is a total retard? :grumpy:

Start your own room, run some short races, boot the major asses as they show themselves, then run longer races or occasionally turn the weather on for a race or two and the other asses will leave.

I might start turning abs off. That'll get them to leave before they complete a lap. Reverse grid helps me find the rest of the f#ck ups that don't belong...but it usually means I don't get to battle with the drivers that actually know how to drive.

I wanted to make it last night, but I played Little Big Planet with the kids. I have an NSX, an R32, and a 22B that I want to test out. Oddly enough, none of them are FRs. We'll see how they go.

As to public rooms, I've been lucky the last few times I've hosted. There were just a few that needed to be kicked, but for the most part, it worked itself out. Could just be weekend/weekday.

It would be nice if you could do something to elect to take a provisional start on the grid. I'd like to be in the back, so I could avoid the first corner accident. It would be nice if they would implement a rolling start like they do with the seasonal events.

You can always pull aside...or make sure you don't complete a timed lap. I've done that before.

What are our usual lap times at Daytona Road Course ?

Oh btw, the Rolex 24 is on.

P.s. haven't seen one bit of Playstation sponsorship. They must not know about this race.

I want to drive the Corvette Daytona Prototype. So pretty.

I haven't seen any video game advertising. They must think only old people are watching this.

Ugh, why do I still bother with this game? I got 1 2 lap race in after spending an hour trying to get it to work.

First 20 minutes...I connect to a same-car room and miss the start because it hangs on the loading screen. I restart the game and connect to the lobby to watch the last 5 minutes of the race I should have been in. I get to run a warm up lap for the next race but when the countdown starts I get booted.

Next 10 minutes I spend loading the open lobby screen and refreshing until I find something good. I get disconnected before they load twice and finally give up. During this time, I check speedtest and nothing was wrong with my Internet.

Next 10 minutes I decide to do a seasonal. I have to prep a car first and when I finally load the track I make the mistake of attempting to load one of the leader's ghost laps. The game hangs again.

Next 20 minutes I spend rebooting the PSN, waiting for the main menu to stop hanging, waiting for the open lobby to actually display something, and finally loading a shuffle room. First race the host decides to do an Eiger rally track. I get punted, I get penalties for hitting any car I try to pass, and eventually just give up. Second race is Deep Forest and I win by 10+ seconds after 2 laps. Eff that room. I exit to the open lobby list and it hangs again.

What a fabulous game PD has created. This spec 2.03 has made such great improvements.

Just make sure you're backing your save up every night, or whenever you decide to give up wrestling with the game. I've been having more stupid issues like this lately myself with game/system hangs, only to waste even more time once getting into a room that's full of morons, bigots, and/or children. I think I'm pretty much going to be limiting my playing time online to LeMons night or the occasional 450 night w/o pub'ers.

There are game studios/publishers that give the gamer an avenue to address problems such as this using Twitter, e-mail and even 800 numbers.

I have no idea why PD doesn't do this, but I'm getting pretty tired of seeing videos of rock-star Kaz racing and going to car shows all over the globe instead of getting this game working.

Kaz, you're not a rock-star, you're a game developer, now finish the game you've been working on forever.
