Hey everyone,

thought for those who are interested i'd open a thread covering the final race weekend of the SpeedCar Series in Bahrain, featuring the support race together with GP2 for Formula One.

Just today i got the confirmation that i will be able to participate since there have been a few complications with the sponsors.

For me its going to be the 2nd time that i will start in an Race event supporting F1.
First time was in 2006 starting in the FR 2.0 at Shanghai , and that time we couldnt even go anywhere, we had our passes which were only for our paddock and nowhere else.
This time though, considering the amount of Ex- F1 drivers Speedcar has, we will be able to walk throught the main pits.

As always if anyone needs infos, it can be found at http://www.chriszoechling.com
and http://www.speedcarseries.com

I still have an open bill with the Bahrain circuit, because the last time i was there in Jan. i had so much bad luck.
In the first race i couldnt even start the race. (At the begin of the warm up lap my drive shaft broke)
In the second race after 14 laps my gearbox decided to become a heavy smoker, ending in total transmission failure.

Wish me luck, and ill try to get gtplanet.net somehow involved hehe:D

Chris 👍

Good luck for the round! If the press want to talk, remember to mention how good GTPlanet is. :sly:

Good luck for the races, Chris 👍

I tried to visit your website there and it said it was deactivated.

:idea:Any chance you can affix a :gtplanet: label or two to the car on the outside and/or one on the dash where the in-car camera can see it easily?

Best of luck in qualifying and in the races, Chris! 👍

We'll all be watching with great interest!

Good luck with the race, Chris!

Maybe we should convince Jordan to create a GTPlanet patch...

thanks you all guys!

Just finished qualifying and finished on 7th. I could have made on PP but my engine started over heating right after the 2nd lap.

Just watched the F1 practice but like i said before, with out passes we cant go anywhere near the paddock. Heinz Harald Frentzen took me to Williams and Force India and i spoke with Sutil and saw all the engines. By williams Dr. Theissen explained me the Kers and everything and that was actually real nice.

But even HH Frentzen told me that even for him as an ex F1 driver, he cant get anymore passes... I dont like what Bernie did with the F1.

I will report back tomorrow after the first race!

Btw, Morbidelli maybe will be put into last row because his car was too low.
---but more tomorrow

Chris!

hey,

sorry i dont thing Speedcar has any live feeds yet. maybe for the 3rd season they'll have that.

Finish 4th in todays race. Car was really good, was catching up with Liuzzi (3rd) but in the last 12 mins of the race my rear tires started to get worn out and i started to get heavy oversteering in the fast sweeping turns!

In the i had the 3rd fastest lap time and i'm pretty happy with the result... and so is the team!
Tomorrow i'll have to start from P5 (reverse grid ) and i beliebe a podium finish is possible!.

Ill be back today evening again, if not then tomorrow after the race.

Gonna watch F1 quali in a bit.

Chris!

so, back home in dubai after a long tiring and very exhausting weekend!

the second race i has to start from P5 (due to reverse grid system) and already at the start jean alesi pulled to most craziest move ever!

Because hes engine blew (caused bye misshifting from 2nd to 3rd instead of 4th) he had to start last!
So what he did was once the F1 safety car was gone, he just floored it from the back of the field and flew past everyone while we all were still in pace speed.

The reason why he did that, was because right after the last right hander, there were no lights on so he just thought ok its ready to go... even though he got a drive through penalty his crazy dangerous start didnt gain him anything.

For me the 2nd race started really well, immediately headed for P4 but then my right rear brake pads broke so i had to start breaking very early causing mobidelli to pass me again.
Then at the exit of Turn 1 herbet gave me a push and spun me round... in the end i finished 8th and got 1 point.

Well overall finish is 8th in the championship but i would have been for sure Top 5 or even top 3 if i didnt have that many technical failiures in the beginning races!

My website is already updated, pictures will follow soon.

Chris

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm currently watching the Bahrain race, and it's pretty impressive. I really liked that overtake on David Terrien in the chicane - ultra-smooth and you used the gap Pasini opened for you well, and then pressured him into a mistake nicely. 👍

Also, the commentator said something about an attempt at GP2 this year? How's that coming along?
