Great thread! Glad to see that there are a bunch of old phenom's still racing!

I was born in 1955, so I've still got three years to go, before I can make the grade for your exclusive club. I've been racing Gran Turismo since GT1, and still find the game to be great fun.

Enjoy the racing!

I'm 16 years old and the only thing I can say is that you're all amazing. I'd love to reach your ages and still playing at least as I do now, I'm sure that a lot of you would beat me without even sweating with such an experience level.

Keep it up! :DD

HI Folks,

I'm new to the forum but a veteran gamer.
I will be 52 this year and it's good to know there are still plenty over 50 year old gamers out there. I generally race on the PC with GTR, Race-07 and R-factor but have just downloaded GT Academy 2012 last night and did round 1.

Looking forward to compare times with other senior players :)

My best World Rank so far is 2,400 ish for Round 1-3

I'm going to celebrate the 30th anniversary of my 21st birthday next week so it's nice to find this thread which will banish any thoughts that I am too ancient to be a GT5 driver!

Major respect guys, particularly to Firecracker and bushmaster and any other member of the very exclusive 70+ gang!

Keep on motoring! :)

Nice way to count the years 👍

👍 for the people in this thread. Nice to see it's a leisure across all ages.

Respect

Great thread guys, only 31 so do not qualify, perhaps I will be posting in a similar thread in 30 years times regarding GT7. (prolly take 30 years to get to GT7) lol

BY then you might have to change your PSN ID to GRANPAPPACLART!

lol

Allot of people think I am an old fart with the name. All my PSN friendns on mic call me Pappa, lol Its a bit weird sometimes as some are 10-20 years older than me.

55 years old so still a few years before I'm eligible, but it's great to see I'm not the only old-timer. I've been playing for a couple of years, since I got my lad a PS3 and GT5 was one of the bundled games. I can't seem to get him interested in playing though. It's a grown-ups game isn't it? It means I don't get much time on the PS3 because he's always killing zombies.
It would be great to be in some sort of veterans club, if only to compare times and such. I find measuring myself against the top drivers can be disheartening.

Welcome to GTPlanet StirlingMoose!

I know what you mean, chasing after the ghost from one of the top drivers and having them drive off into the far/far distance is pretty disheartening!

My best time so far at Motegi is a 1.33.010 lap. I would like to find another few tenths, but I'm nearly at my limit.

Send me a FR if you want to compare times with another driver in the "half-century" club.

Respectfully,
GTsail

Psh, trying to compare to some of these 60+ folks can get a bit disheartening. Especially for "stab it and steer it" types like me.

Just to give an update on those participating. I currently have 8 on my friends list who have competed on 8-5. All 8 have a gold medal and I believe have earned a gold on all 40 of the events.

On 8-5 granpa1951 has the best time at 1.33.162 which is a seriously fast time. Bobby2227 is 2nd at 1.33.873 and I sit in 3rd with a 1.34.514.

It has been fun for me competing against a group of older racers. I will continue to try and drop my time up until the end of the competition.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
1.33 is a very good time by my standards. I must admit I'm struggling with Motegi. I've golded all previous stages apart from 8-4 where I was on target but got over-enthusiastic on the last corner and crossed the line going backwards for a silver. That'll do for me.
I'm 4 seconds shy of your time But I'm sure I could do better. I'll send you a FR and download your ghost to see what I can learn.

Hey guys, still having fun with these challenges. Usually I do not do well in the rain so I spent a lot of time on 7-5 and have enjoyed it. 8-5 has been very interesting for me. I think I can go lower.

Well done granpa1951, great respect for your times on all rounds! Last time I looked I was only ahead of you on 6-5 & 8-4. Like you I have really loved these challenges & am happy just to be in the top 10-20,000 global rankings, Currently am around 7,000 for 8-5 on a 1:33.873 - would be really chuffed to get down to a low 1:33. Hope all other 60+ folks are getting the same enjoyment & challenge.

Last time I looked I was only ahead of you on 6-5 & 8-4.
I had a time I was proud of before the 2nd reset on 6-5 (1:05.176). I was going around the yellow car where the leaders were bumping and going inside of it.Then they reset the test AGAIN! Oh well, I just did not have the drive to go after that one again. I don't understand why they would reset 6-5 twice and let 6-3 stand with the fastest times going outside the distance markers on the Top Gear Test Track.
8-4 might;) be yours. I think I have wrung all I can out of that one.

Bringing 8-5 down in baby steps. Three small improvements have me down to 1:33.080 now. Just barely under 5,000 in the global rankings. Still want to get under 1:33. I am needing the most improvement in the first and last sectors with the speed exiting the first chicane being my biggest challenge.

terrparker15 here and I like many others would love to have a few more adults on my friend list. I'm 40 and a few of my friends are in there 40's the rest are kids.

I've got you beat by 3 thousandths! My most improvement is needed in sections 1-3:). I'm also shooting for a 32, which I'm sure I'll get, eventually. So many of these guys are alien, super-drivers:). I'll never get close to pos 32, but I'm going to keep trying.

I see you got your 32! 1:32.998, that is outstanding! :D

Thanks!

By the hair of my chini-chin-chin:) I feel a 31 coming:)

I know the line, I just haven't got my throttle and brake worked out.

So I've got you & grampa1951 now to aim for! Currently down on a 33.361, not sure I can get into the 32's. Well done to all the oldies on my friends list - really impressed with the pace of you all. midiman007 - I will add you to my friends list if that's OK with you.
