Either stick with emphasizing the 1st gen "top" grill:

...or go all in for the 2nd gen "big" grill - which has actually come back into popularity in recent years:

The new Camaro just looks confused in its own identity, especially from the front.

Lots smaller. Lots lighter?

It sounds like the weight savings claims are all over the board

Car and Driver
The Alpha platform is both stiff and light. As a result, the new Camaro’s body-in-white—basically the bare body shell before any suspension, interior, or exterior panels are attached—weighs 133 pounds less than the previous-gen equivalent.

An aluminum dashboard crossbar saves a further nine pounds, and the suspension is 26 pounds lighter thanks to extensive use of aluminum and carefully optimized steel components. Overall, the Camaro SS is said to shed about 200 pounds despite a slightly heavier upgraded V-8 engine, while the Camaro LT is more than 300 pounds lighter, according to Chevy, thanks to the new standard four-cylinder engine. We’re looking forward to quantifying the weight savings on our own scales soon.

I seem to remember Autoblog or Jalopnik mentioning that the Camaro 3.6 was 300 lbs lighter than the current one, making it seem a hell of a lot faster than the current model. It'll probably heavily depend on which option boxes are ticked, just like Ford's F-150 and their 700lb weight claim from last year.

As long as they set straight their ridiculous claims of 3000lbs overall weight for the lightest model..

Also, the memes have arrived.

Mustang vs Camaro battle:

Style - Mustang
Chassis/handling - Mustang
Engines - Mustang
Price - Mustang (based off estimates)
Weight - Camaro
Which one would I buy? - Mustang...Mustang...Mustang..................did I mention Mustang?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Somebody give Ford a cookie! They deserve it for reviving and revitalizing the epicness of the Stang' and trouncing GM.

This brings back the bad design of the '98 model. There was no direction for that style after the '83 hatchbacks. I say this design lasts about 2 years and Chevy change it again.

Seriously? We don't even know the pricing or performance of this car yet.

I'll give you the style part though.

The Camaro looks better and better to me each time. Actually think it possibly looks better than the new Mustang.

Can't wait to see it in person though.

So in other words you seem to be going off the crowd (at least from all your comments) of cool kids. One we have no idea if the Chassis performance of the SS is worse or better than the GT so not sure how you can claim that, other than just wanting to. Second, style is subjective. To be honest I think the Mustang rear end is the most off proportioned piece of a car to be attached the other 3/4ths of a car I've ever seen. The Camaro seems to have a better design flow from front to back, though overall the Mustang of current looks sleeker and lower.

The engines we have no idea on either, but at this moment it does seem GM have a better time getting performance out of Forced Induction than Ford, and the V8 is said to be more powerful too. Weight we agree on.

Price I have no clue on so I'll have to look that up on my own time.

I'd probably not buy either seeing as I feel there are other cars in this price (using the GT as a gauge since I have no other measurement) that offer similar performance with better utility. If I wanted a Mustang or Camaro I'd buy an upper tier one where the looks actually match the shape since it seems now days Ford and GM design in mind of the faster platforms and then just dumb it down for the more base models.

Chassis/handling - Mustang
I wouldn't say that yet as the current 1LE SS Camaro can get a quicker laptime than a 2015 Mustang GT. With less weight, it sounds more like the 2016 Camaro SS will even be better than the Mustang around the track, but we'll see what happens of course.

The more I look at it, the more I'm starting to like it. A little bit. Then again, this is coming from a straight up Chevy fan boy so take it with a grain of salt. ;)

I would hardly call this all-new though, at least from the exterior. It looks like a facelift 2.0. Under the hood may be another story of course. The look is perhaps a bit more sporty, but it loses some of its muscle in the process. 👎

It's not that it looks bad, but I keep getting the impression of a poor man's C7. That's not what the Camaro is supposed to be. :nervous:

I agree. Front looks decent and interior has improved. But the 2016 Camaro tail lights and rear still look terrible. The tail lights actually look worse than before. :dunce:

👎:yuck:
Unlit they are boring but the LEDs will look similar to the C7 at night.

language warning

I just posted in his thread and I hope he reads it. It pains me to watch his face and see how uncomfortable and unconfident he is in his situation, long before the crash. The look on his face as he attempts to steer more and more while already having exceeded front tire grip just makes me cringe. This is an example of pure lack of driving skill. Anybody who manages to understeer into anything while driving quickly should be embarrassed, frankly, but hopefully they learn from their mistake. I have a feeling Patrick George is not the sort of driving enthusiast who will learn from this mishap. He's a journalist, not a driver. If you can't drive and talk at the same time then don't do it, simple as that. I don't talk while I drive because in that situation I have more important things to concentrate on.

I don't mind it as much while I still think the other two competitors look better. At least this one went on a diet. Comparing it to the outgoing model I like this new one better. Especially the interior.

What did you say? I don't quite see it over there.

Jalopnik in a nutshell.

On Jalopnik! Where the content quality of Car Throttle Memes meet the Journalistic Integrity of Gawker Media!

Let some crappy blogger tell you how the car feels like he's Ayrton Senna!

Watch him totally abuse the point of paced parade drive like a 16 year old behind the wheel of his dad's BMW!

See him understeer with his arms crossed like a soccer mom understeering on black ice! Turns out a V6 Camaro is far above this guy's skill level even on a track with marked braking zones and a pace setting car.

Then
finish it off with a totally crap and self serving apology.

TL;DR: Salt.

Oh yeah, the car. It looks like a Charger after facial liposuction, but at least it'll be fun to drive.

Media Embargos? Jalopnik doesn't give a ****. They'll publish anything to get views. I kind of wonder if GM asked them not to post videos of them crashing their pre-production Camaros and they just ignored them. I can't wait for the day when the big auto makers simply stop throwing them bones.

This accident is like a metaphor for Jalopnik. The quality of that website veered into a wall a long time ago.

Our champion of storytelling sure has cleaned the place up, hasn't he?

I'm surprised GM lets them get anything. The Corvette junk from a while back would have been enough to set fire to an entire publication 20 years ago. The hits must be enough on Jalopnik that GM realizes it'd hurt them more not to have them there.

If I were GM I'd give them the finger. The corvette leak would have been enough for me. Like you said, Brad, back in the day that would have put a body in the trunk. But I'd go out of my way for all the other outlets.
