I mean, nothing particularly revolutionary here with the Camaro convertible, but I really dig that hard cover for the soft top. Matches the body lines, brings the car together a bit better. Rear seats look absolutely useless.

RE: Goodwood Camaro
Fair bet they're sending the SS over to rep Euro sales. Should be fun to hear their tweaked LT1 out on the climb.

Roadsters always win. :D

That thing would be awesome down here. People would "pony" up for one of those bad boys.

Great render. The front looks really good but dang I hate the rear.

Only V8 has manual in Europe? They just shot themselves on both feet.

Yes, confirmed here in this GM announcement:

"The Gen Six Camaro provides a faster, more nimble driving experience, enabled by an all-new, lighter architecture and a broader powertrain range. In Europe, three all-new powertrain combinations are offered, including a 2.0L Turbo and the LT1 6.2L V-8, which is SAE-certified at 455 horsepower (339 kW) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque – for the most powerful Camaro V-8 ever distributed in Europe. The 2.0L Turbo and the V-8 both feature an eight-speed automatic transmission; the V-8 is also available with a six-speed manual."

GM Europe has no idea what options to offer with cars that are clearly meant for that small, hard to please segment called enthusiasts..

The only thing I can think of is that the fuel mileage for the 2.0T mated to the manual trans was a factor. These days the autos get better mileage and in order to meet some of Europe's regulations they needed it to hit 30mpg and less than 8 liters/100km.

In Europe, the enthusiast might not be able to afford the V8 because they're usually priced sky high due to heavy taxes based on emissions.

In Finland perhaps. If it's pricing is going to be competitive with the Mustang, then there's next to nothing between the 2.0T and the V8 in most markets. There's £3k between the two Mustangs in the UK, and a couple of hundred difference in yearly road tax.

*edit* - It's actually £4000 difference between the 2.3T and V8 Mustang - but that drops to £2500 difference if you spec your 2.3T with an auto.

First year UK road tax will be £750 more for the GT - but that drops to £280 a year more after that.

Chevrolet's cornercutters at it again, eh? I can't RECALL seeing plastic suspension pieces before. Protective covers, yes, but actual load-bearing parts? I can see those failing as soon as temps drop.

This might by the camera angle, but it makes that Civic look like a Mini.

Speaking of size, Oppenheiser elaborates on the weight loss of the Alpha platform and goes into detail on the base engine Camaro here. The 200 lb. weight savings on the SS models is a savings of almost 300 lb. on the V6 and new turbo 4 models compared to the 5th gen Camaro.

2015 Camaro V6 (6MT) - 3,719 lb. 323hp 278lb/ft 17/28 mpg
2016 Camaro Turbo 4 - ~3,450 lb. 275hp 295lb/ft ?mpg (2016 ATS turbo gets 21/30mpg)
