7/19/12 - A-Spec: 500PP World Classic Car Series

I won easily on the first race in a 420PP 300SL, but even a 450PP 300SL is nowhere near good enough for Eiger. That track is a pain, because the lead G4 gets a 40sec head start :(

Love this car. Corners smoothly, and brakes so well. Handles like a dream.

Here is a tune which seems to work for most.

I can't get mine (Chev Z28 '69) any lower than 398PP.
That's with 200kg added and only 50% power and nothing else, except for the titanium racing exhaust which comes with it and I can't remove.
Are you doing something I can't? Or don't know how to?

Hi Dalone. johof1234 is correct. I am using a stock Z28 and not the RM. I have no weight reductions but i haven't added weight either which of course means it will go far lower in pp value than I will ever have a use for.

I'm far from being one of the Alien drivers either and that was my first attempt at 375pp after winning at 399pp. I can't wait to see what some really good drivers can do here.I project myself hitting maybe the low 360's and that's about it.

Good Luck. :)

won the cote d azur race with my 426pp 300 sl but i couldnt win at eiger nordwand.the eiger nordwand race need to be fix

Wow. The Z/28 makes this easy. Non-RM version with Priano's tune for suspension and no hp engine mods and the Ginetta is not a problem to get past.

The 420PP 300SL just rocked Eifel 104A (no G4 in pole), and made nearly twice as much as Cote d'Azur. I got 900k in 5:20, and only at 110% login bonus. Looks like we have a new credit-making champion race :)

The second lineup is far better for lower PP as the Elan Ginetta is not in the race. Just did 380pp in my Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C3) '69 and won by 14.5 seconds (@ Monaco) so there is much more to be had.

Edit

Just won again @ 364PP, it's as low as I can get this car to go without wearing the engine down. 50% power @ max ballast.

CR 1,700,040
XP 170376

Just tried this race with the 69 Corvette @ 399pp but only managed 3rd, still, picked up 1/2 mil and a red whistle.
Mind you I was not concentrating too well as I was watching a kangaroo out in the paddock drinking out of a bucket of water I leave for them. The only reason I was watching was because you seldom see them at this time of day, lunch time, they are usually resting in the shade somewhere in the heat of the day. Anyway he's gone so I'll try again, no excuses this time.

Won it that time by concentrating on the race. $1,371,000...nearly 1/2 sec in front.

Will go down to a lower PP now.

Could only get down to 371PP ...146hp however I could only manage 5th with 2.8 and 2.9 min laps, and the lead car was 16 sec's in front!

Can't see me winning at this PP but will try later.

Will try this one out and post some feedback later. Stock standard it goes well with a little understeer under pressure through the two hard right/left oop de doops at Eiger...keen to try this setup there and Monaco.

I did Eiger in a 490PP Corvette. No aids except ABS1. 2nd gear was useless. 3rd gear would spin in a straight line over 80% throttle. In 4th gear it would spin if the front wheels were turned 2 degrees.

I caught the G4 going up the hill on lap 5 and won by 0.8 seconds.

That's exactly my experience but with the miura at 480pp. But everything else, exact copy of my race :D

So ive just done mine got 1st at madrid, cote d'azur and rome..2nd at eigar and eifel used the Alfa romeo GUILIA TZ2 carrozzato..going to try other cars now..

To be honest i just used a 500pp 2D just to win, then farmed Monaco with the Camaro at 400pp until i was bored...Then i tried the Ferrari challenge and couldn't control it after slugging around Monaco for a few races haha.

I used the Alfa Romeo GIULIA TZ2 carrozzata da ZAGATO CN.AR750106 ’65 on all events, detuned engine and added 200 kg ballast to get to 430 pp. Golded all events with some basic tuning on the gearbox and suspension. Even with the Gineta rabbit.
Monaco was most fun to be honest and nice around 1.1mil payout. :)

Thanks - I was going to skip this event until reading this :sly: I'm on a no ABS kick and the '69 Vette was shockingly crappy on CS tires, but the 2D is lovely to drive no matter what and sounds so awesome (for GT5). Then back to the Ferrari F1 challenge (doing 750pp "grinding").

But the best part was getting the BMW McLaren F1 GTR to show up in the UCD again finally! It's now in my online (shared) garage so anyone is welcome to borrow it...

This event is a dream come true for me. Five races to use Alfa Giulia TZ2.
Not managed to win the Eiger yet (I'm beginning to hate that track) but golded all the others. The Cote is absolute blast in this car. I'll try some tunes later and see if I can do the Eiger.
On the subject of tyres I think CS are about right, for the Alfa anyway. If you put racing tyes on it there is so much grip it tends to fall over rather than slide if you corner too quickly. See my new avatar for evidence.

Hi guys! This event is a lot of fun! I golded all tracks using a stock camaro with no settings or mods at all (just because Im absolutely dumb with setting up I have no clue what I'm doing). This event requires a lot of patience though since I'm just under a month new to GT5 (can you freakin' believe that? ive missed a lot!) and I'm still learning the new tracks that are well, new to me.

Have fun guys!

Ok well , even road tires weren't very different. Tire companies have been making tires made of polyester cords, steel, etc. inlayed with several layers of rubber, with reinforced outer edges since the mid 60's.

So they were virtually the same. the only difference is tread, which probably doesn't make much difference on dry tarmac.

Using comfort softs is lame.

Comfort tyres are supposed represent a generic normal (modern) road tyre. The soft are pretty generous I think.

Same as everything else, tyre technology has moved on: compounds, manufacturing techniques, tread. To say modern tyres are the same as 60s tyres is like saying an engine should be the same.

In any case it doesn't matter, you are using the same as the competition.

I'll give you the same advice i was given to get a 2J. 💡

Go to license B, load the B1 license then skip B1 to B5... Bingo, 30 new cars in the used car lot. Keep going until one pops up, i got one on my second try.
So you were soooo lucky. I'm doing that 4th month and didn't see any........OMG:scared::drool::crazy::ouch::yuck::grumpy:

I tried 4 of the 5 races with the 330 P4 downtuned to 464 PP.

Madrid: Won by 3 seconds.
Cote D'Azur: Won by 11 seconds and didn't run that cleanly.
Rome: Won by 16 seconds, again, didn't run that cleanly.
Eiger: Close one because the 330 P4 does NOT like to run in first gear on CS tires. (Madrid I avoided that by never down-shifting into 1st, keeping control of the car.) On CS tires, the 330 is very slide-prone and through those downhill hairpins has to be coaxed to turn tightly. Won by 1.3 seconds.

I've tried both my '69 Corvette and my Alfa GTA. I've had better luck with the Vette on 3/5 tracks. I want to use the Alfa because it's so much lighter. I have a mid range turbo on it.

The races the G4 didn't show up I dominated, but it killed me at Eiger.

Do most of you guys drive without aids?

Yeah i know, i just used the used car data base and it says the next one wont turn up for another 2437 in games days

Used car data base didn't turn up anything for me. :(
I think the 2J is the only car, over a million credits, that I don't have.

This seasonal is going to be no fun with the Ginetta running away with it on every straight...

Anyone have a Ginetta up for share or trade?

I'll be home in an hour, friend request me macdog54 and I'll put it on share.

Hi racers, I won this few days ago, 4 of the race tracks car used - Alfa Romeo Giula TZ2 '65 car, And the Eiger Nordwnand track car used - 2D race car '67 this car can when all five races though. On the 2D car I only used 1st and 2nd gear to win the Eiger race.
