7/19/12 - A-Spec: 500PP World Classic Car Series

I have been working my way through them with a 400pp S2000, its not easy, but it pays well 👍

There were only 4 Honda S car from the 60's in GT5, Honda S500'63, Honda S600'64, Honda S800'66 and Honda S800' RSC Race car '68.

Whoops..Sorry, man..Maybe I meant S 800. Anyway, thats the car I think he may be referring to.

1965 Shelby GT350R Anyone?

316 HP@446PP

1268 kg Weight

461 Nm Torque

FR

(Trans AM for the win!)

That's what I'll be using when Bob completes the Nurburgring 24hr.

The GT350R worked great for me at the Eiger. Not so great against the G4 at the last event (Eifel Kart) - G4 pipped me by 0.037 seconds at the end. :(

I'll get him, though. That's the only one I haven't won yet.

So in desperation, after losing the Eifel Kart run again to the G4, I broke out the big gun: '69 GT40 Race Car. Detuned it to
262hp
998kg (0 ballast)
35F 60R downforce
Trans:
1st: 2.752
2nd: 1.889
3rd: 1.383
4th: 1.068
5th: 0.869

124mph top speed (200kph)
LSD 9/38/15
Suspension
-25F/-30R
Dampers and antiroll bars left stock
Camber and toe stock
Brakes 8F/7R

So I enter it in the Eifel Kart event, annnnnd... No G4. :( Darn it. The Sylvia was heading up the pack. I smoked him by over 21 seconds. I'm not proud; I'll take the win. :)

Might still have to go back and pick a fight with that G4, though! Lap times were consistently 1:00.xxx, with a final lap of 0:59.xxx, so the car it quick, even though I was sloppy with it.

Love this car. Corners smoothly, and brakes so well. Handles like a dream.

LSD 9/38/15

Brakes 6/5

Hey, thanks for a great tune for the TZ2. It really does handle like a dream, especially at Cote D'Azur.I watered one of mine down to 425pp so it's not setting any records or anything but wow this car with that tune is a sure thing....Thanks again..👍

Has anyone noticed that the eifel track they used is the same exact one from the old Kei car sesonal race?
Looked on the tube and found this video posted Jul 2011
It is the same track.

Yes. Looks like the same track. It's a nice layout though ...
But since it didn't provide most money ... I will drive on some other track. Hehe.

These cars, 2 laps of the ring, starting sunset then on into night-racing, in the rain would be awesome.
While It's great that were still getting seasonals, why the same limited race format, short, no weather, no damage, no tyre wear? In all this time we've never gotten a single A-Spec seasonal with these features.
I really don't get it, I mean even a couple of Bspec events had them, so it can't be a technical reason. Just poor, grind-mentality game design I guess. It's sad, the content is all there in Gt5, they could easily make so many fun and interesting events. Such a waste of potential.
*scratches head*

Very good point. PD could do so much more with seasonals to keep us playing. Instead, they put a rabbit in the same ol'-same ol' and we're salivating because we've been starved for so long.

The race at Cote'D Azur is a great place for credits farming, I used Camaro Z28'69 RM.

UPDATE

Tried lower PP, I won the race against the same cars - lead was Ginetta G4
Power Limiter : 51.9%
Power : 169 HP
Weight : 1285kg
411PP

Prize : 1,270,460 Cr with 200% bonus
Finished the race in 10:16.553, the Ginetta G4 was 10:17.613, a second gap.

With better driver, less than 410PP is possible :)

Setting the GT40 to shared status, if anyone needs to borrow it to beat up on the Ginetta.

Also sharing a Alfa TZ2 Carrozzata da Zagato and a Shelby GT350R, all set to 500pp.

I got that car down to 401 pp, aero set to minimum, full ballast and power at 50 %. It will beat the silvia when it starts in first. Haven't tried it against the G4. Comes to about 1.35 M credits. Final pass happens on lap 5, about half way.

The Ginetta G4 average finish time was 10:17 to 10:19, the car will need an average lap of 2:03 to win the race, I passed the G4 in the last 3 corners. I doubt with full ballast and lowest HP, the car could do the lap time necessary to beat the G4.

Those of you using the RM Camaro, what aids are you using? I can't seem to beat them @450 pp
Does anyone have a tune for this car either?

I run it with ABS = 1, Traction control = 1. I'll have to get other tuning info later when I can get to the PS3. Wife's using it to watch a movie right now. :(

Going just off memory, I think I'm running suspension heigh at -15 front & rear, and stiffer struts and anti-roll bars at the front ( like Compression 6F/4R, Extension 6F/4R, Anti-roll 5F/4R, something close to that.)

And camber around 1.8F/1.4R, toe -0.11F/0.20R, if memory serves.

Power is around 250hp, but I'm running it at 500pp for now, just to get used to it and get the feel a bit better before lowering the PP settings.

Everything else off? I'm on a ds3 by the way.

Yup, all else off. No ASM, no SRF. I'll run with them on sometimes, in higher-powered, twitchier cars (F1, FGT), but for these runs, they cost too much time. Of course, an off-track excursion costs a lot of time, too, but if that happens running against the G4, you're already kinda screwed... :)

Oh, and I'm DS3 as well.

I tried running the Ford MK IV with that setup, and it was just too much for me. I had to go TCS = 2 and SRF On, and it was still quite spinny! :)

Okay, I got my PS3 back so I can post up concrete tuning data on the Camaro RM '69.

Weight 1085kg
Aero 20F/50R (could be lowered all the way, probably)
0 Ballast
254hp (Stage 3 engine tune, no ECU tune, standard intake, racing filter, sports exhaust mani, sports cat, Ti exhaust, supercharger)
Trans: 124mph top speed, 5.500 final drive, all else left alone.
LSD left at default
Suspension:
Ride Height: -15F/-15R
Springs: 7.0F/ 5.3R
Extension: 6F/5R
Compression: 6F/5R
Anti-roll: 6F/4R
Camber: 1.8F/1/4R
Toe: -0.18F/+0.20R
Brakes 8F/6R

500pp

Seems to work well, but I know it can be sorted better than this. This was quick-n-dirty tune to get through the event. Beat the G4 at the Eifel Kart by 8.657 seconds.

Now I'm going to start playing with lowering aero, ditching the supercharger, lowering PP, and playing with other settings a bit to see what it can really do.

ETA: Dang - cut power, ditched the supercharger, bottomed out the aero, added 100kg ballast, and finished 1.136 sec behind the G4 @ 467pp. :(

I've found that most of the aids will slow you down. ABS 1 and TC 1 are pretty good, though sometimes I find TC 1 slowing me down. For some reason, many of my cars have been coming with TC5 (or even TC 10 once, wtf) and that slowed me down by like 5 seconds one race.

Sadly, I didn't get the G4 or the Silvia in this Eiger track, which was giving me tons of trouble. I got the Elan and smoked him in my 69 Vette. Again, for some reason this car defaulted to TC 5, but I still put up a 1:17.xxx and the other cars I tried out couldn't get closed than 1:20. This is the only, of 4, cars that I've tried that didn't want to spin out on every turn and almost every straight away... I tried a Cobra, G4 and an E-Type. This Vette is one of my oldest cars and I fell back in love with it all over again. I hadn't even tried to tune it for the track yet.

Yup, all my cars are defaulted to TCS = 5 when I get them, and I always have to turn them off or down to 1, depending on the car and the tire. Comfort Softs and a muscle car are a pretty steep recipe for wheelspin, so TCS = 1 does a pretty good job of it for me.

Oh, and 314hp in the Camaro is a bit much for the Eifel Kart course. :) Thing was squirmy as hell, breaking the rears loose even in a straight line!

Yea, that E-Type I thought would be a monster, not too heavy, but a whole lotta HP, except it wanted to spin out in ever gear. Every single gear. I'm not even sure if it had a 6th gear cause red lining in 5th gear was the exact same as it trying to change from 4th and from 3rd and 2nd. It's fun, pretending you're a rally or drifter, but it's too slow, lol

That was pretty much my experience with the GT350R on Eifel, too - even with the power down under 300hp, it was just crazy with the wheelspin, and too unmanageable to be competitive.

I have to admit that this was one of the most frustrating seasonals for me ever. I have a sweet little G4 so I decided to run it. Got killed on every track. I was reading through this thread and someone mentioned the Alfa Race car. Got it out and washed it. Set it at 470PP with a 5.90 rear gear and cleaned house. So a big thank you for whoever it was that mentioned the Alfa. It even beat the Ginetta in 3 of the races. The Alfa seems like it was meant for Comfort Soft tires. No sliding or wheel spin though I do use aids at lower settings.

I know I am not the best of drivers but have been able to complete GT1-GT4. I am about 91% through GT5. I don't drive in the grass and try not to punt the slower cars but sometimes it is just necessary. Now that I have completed this event I may go back and try it again in some other cars. If I do it will be a while.

If you dont feel dirty doing it and dont already have one, my 2D is set to online @ 500pp and can go slightly lower. PSN - bagmup.

I used the Camaro without any aids, everything off, the car has a big fat rear tire, traction is not so much an issue unlike other muscle with skinnier rear tire.
Here is my tune for Camaro Z28 RM '69, this car can beat the G4 at Cote'D Azur with 411PP.
