In LMP1, I'm supporting the 908s as usual, with secondary support for the Astons. Time to see if the periodic updates to the 908 are sufficient to keep the whole new R15 at bay... My real favourite, the Dome S102, doesn't appear on the entry list. It was great to see a petrol car with that much work gone into clever aerodynamics, allowing it to match the diesel's downforce levels at less drag, maintaining similar top-speeds despite a relative lack of power.

LMP2 will see me cheering for Barazi-Epsilon team's Zytek car, even though I realize the RS Spyders might be unbeatable.

GT1 will be a bit irrelevant, as with 4 Corvettes, I can't expect the lone Aston, no longer factory-supported, or the lovely-but-hopeless Lamborghini, to succeed... And yet, I shall cheer for them.

As for GT2, I shall support the lone Aston, but any of the Ferraris is also good. Sadly, I expect the Spyker to retire after an hour or so, in last place.

Wooo :D

However I did not speak to Fernando this week so have no news or opinions for the race at the minute, when I talk to him I'll let you guys know what he thinks about the upcoming race.

I want to see Risi Competizione or Flying Lizard bring home a win this year in GT2.

To see a class winning car later this year at Limerock park (ALMS's first event after the LeMans 24h) would be fantastic :D

Stuart Moseley, (31, St Ives, Cambs, UK) is set to drive the legendary Le Mans 24 Hour race in the same Barazi-Epsilon Zytek 07s as last year. This will be the Loughborough born driver’s fourth consecutive Le Mans assault. 2008 saw the team finish fifth in the LMP2 class, equalling Stuart’s previous best result.

The team line up includes Juan Barazi, as last year, with French driver Roland Berville completing the line-up.

The main difference with the car this year is a switch from Michelin to Dunlop tyres but as Stuart drove the Barcelona round of the Le Mans Series in a Radical SR9 in April he has experience of the new tyre performance which gives him a head start. Stuart’s other drives this year include the Radical European Masters which he leads with his MSW Racing team-mate Derek Johnston.

Stuart Moseley

“I was hoping for a podium last year with it being my supposedly lucky third time but it wasn’t to be so that’s the aim for 2009. There are so many things that can happen in a 24 hour race so you’ve got to beat the race first before you can think about beating the competition. I think in our class the Porsches and the Lola Coupes are the main threats but in this race anything can happen.”
:grumpy: Fernando Rees won't drive after all

Wanted to see this

I think this is about 90 more minutes of live coverage on SPEED TV then last year

Le Mans on ONE next Saturday at 10:30pm, Aussies! It's not full 24 hour coverage, not sure if there will be any more coverage on Sunday but I really hope so! Following the Le Mans coverage will be the NASCAR Sprint Cup and DTM.

Meh, to me the livery Flying Lizard Motorsports were racing at 2007 24 hours of Le Mans was, is, and always will be the most awesome livery ever to appear on a racing Porsche in my eyes.

What isnt to like about the classic paint-job of the Martini Porsche 917's?
This years LeMans:
The two main battles to watch will be in GT2 and LMP1...... but most likely 90% of the race will be spent watching the 908's race around LaSarthe, because the race is filmed be french camera crews.... But here are my predictions:
GT2: GO FLYING LIZARD!! but with 10 ferraris vs. only 4 porsches, the competition will be stiff....
GT1: The end of an era: Corvette's last GT1 Race at LeMans..... its anybody's game, but corvette is the only factory team in the class..... ill be rooting for the Lamborghini's because they are so damn sexy! lol
LMP2: The Mazda-powered lola (right?) coupes will have an aerodynamic advantage over the Porsche RS Spyders on the long straights of LaSarthe, but the RS Spyders are just sooo good....
LMP1: This is going to be where the real battle is. Audi who have brought their purpose-built-for-LeMans R15, which will most likely win based on its juggernaut driver line-up, but no doubt Peugeot will be nipping at Audi's heels the whole time... The real wild card will be the new Astons, which are making their debut at LeMans.... i am going to root for them and the Peugeots because someone needs to beat Audi....

Audi who have brought their purpose-built-for-LeMans R15

Actually, quite the opposite. The R15 was designed to be a high-downforce ALMS Warrior, implementing ALMS features such as refueling from both sides, and generally built with a bias towards downforce. It's the Peugeot 908 which was designed for Le Mans and the FIA LMS, which run on much higher-speed tracks.

But Audi does stand a very big chance of winning.

oh, i didnt realize that.... i just assumed that the reason that Audi only brought the R15 to Sebring and then kind of disappeared was because they wanted to focus on winning lemans... but apparently not.

They pulled out because of, they said, the financial crisis - but in an effort not to completely waste the R15, which was already developed, they said they'll at least shoot for Le Mans.

OMG I know! I saw the ad while watching the F1 and 6 hours of the Glen enduro and the only thing stopping me from yelling with joy was the fact that it was 1 in the morning and eveyone else was asleep.
My quest of finding a live streem is over - and it's on digital quality and framerate. No more buffering problems and my internet can stay largly intact!.
I'm getting pumped for this - I really hope it's as fun as the N-ring enduro with you guys before 👍

Hooray! It's on ONE HD here in Australia!

It is only advertised as a 22 hour broadcast (10:20pm Sat-8:30pm Sun). What's up with that?

Also, I would have to pick the French for LMP1, the Germans for LMP2, the Italians for LMGT1, and the Aston for LMGT2. On the topic of news, doesn't Audi have a new rear wing for Le Mans?

They all have - regulations for the rear wing changed for 2009.

Peugeot said they're bringing a new front, too.

Yeah I noticed that on the TV ad. It's a shame because the start of the race usually invites some mad driving battles (1st hour of the N-ring 24hr 2009 anyone) and the end is the end...you can't cut that.

I am thankful for what we are getting though. As I've said, I've loved the LM cars, but have only EVER watched what's on YouTube and a half hour presentation on a flight the the UK.

well i think its about time it got shown live in australia last year i was havin the chronos up and the feed from radio le mans but still nothing beats tv coverage

Since I've really started to be into watching motorsport properly (about 2003, I'm only 17 now) this is the most I've looked forward to Le Mans. It looks set to be the best since 1998-99 in terms of factory input.

Come on Peugeot, I mean Aston, I mean Oreca. No Peugeot, Come on Bourdais! (and Darren Turner and Anthony Davidson) Well I want all of them to win... Pug or Aston.
But I want Pescarolo and Oreca to have a strong showing aswell.

Am I the only one who finds it impossible to see the GT2 car numbers from a distance?

Who came up with the idea to put white numbers on a yellow background :indiff:
