7th GTP F1 World Championship (F1 2010 edition) * SEASON FINISHED :'''( *F1 2010-2016

It's me who got all the people who want to be reserve drivers interested due to my facebook page and by the way I have been ill these past couple of days so I won't be on until Thursday or Friday and just a quick question...I can't find the Driving Force Pro anywhere apart from ebay, should I just a Driving Force GT instead?

it will be just as difficult to find a DFGT right now. If I remember correctly, they don't make the driving force pro anymore so eBay would probably be the only place you could find it.

Guys do you want to make some practice?

Maybe its a good idea to establish some days and hours when everybody will be available to perform official trainings. What do you think? Right now its almost impossible to gather everybody in one place at one time :)

Well we're having an official practice this Sunday night I hope everyone realises? 19:30 GMT it'll be. First team drivers will obviously have preference but any drivers who can't make it can be replaced by their team's reserve driver.

It seems to be just me who's struggling seriously with fuel consumption at Bahrain. As a result I have to run a pretty compromised set up and keep the engine in its standard setting which means I could be a sitting duck in the race even if I do qualify near the front.

You're not the only one with fuel problems. I just did 50% single player race and ran out at the beginning of the last lap. That was doing 5 laps with my engine turned up. Last night when we played I had my engine up the whole race and ran out on lap 23, so it must be something to do with my driving style? Did you alter your gear ratios a lot Shaggy? Did you find anything that made a big difference to fuel consumption?

Hmm... Tough decision...

I think I'll choose Hesketh.

I should be on for practice on Sunday :)
Alonso, have you added us on PSN, or do we have to add you?

I've added everyone participating as a friend on PSN but I strongly recommend that everyone else does the same with each other. All the PSN's are listed in the original post.

I think lengthening gear ratio's helps, although so far I haven't really noticed short shifting to be of any great help, although people insist otherwise. I don't want to give my game away about engine settings though :sly:

Hesketh it is, that makes maclaren_no1 Brabham's reserve driver and that makes a full house.

how will i be able to join practice on sunday?

I've sent you a PM manios. 1st team drivers get first choice for the practice race naturally, but any slots that they can't fill can be taken by the reserve driver of the appropriate team. For example, Brabham's upuaut can't make it, so his slot is offered to Brabham's reserve driver maclaren_no1. You should check with your team mates if they can both make it and if one of them can't then you should stand in.

Haha, I understand, had to give it a try though. Looks like I'll have to hire some spies.

I'm going to have to drop out of this unfortunately as I won't be able to take part in the first 4 races (or Sundays practice) due to a league I'm taking part in in GT5 :(, I didn't realise they were going to clash until now.

So my seat is free I guess.

That sucks Jamie :(

Bit of a predicament this as your reserve driver is akmuq who had to pull out of the championship proper because he couldn't commit to the series. He agreed to be a reserve driver but I doubt he could be a regular competitor. We've got several different options:

1. Akmuq takes over your seat for just the first 4 races (this depends on his availability, but I doubt he will be able) and you can take over afterwards if you think you can attend the rest of the races.

2. We swap the seats round a bit so that you become a reserve driver if you're interested Jamie, but Jerry786 takes your Jordan seat and you go the other way and replace him as Benetton's reserve?

3. Even if akmuq can't cover for your races, you just sit out the first four anyway. However i'm less keen on this because we'd be deliberately leaving a slot free when we've got many reserve drivers willing to take the spot..............................

Option 1 sounds best to me but we would need to speak to Akmuq first. I'm 100% comitted to the rest of the season if my seat in Jordan will be still available, which hopefully it will be as I was looking forward to this.

I could drop out of the GT5 league I'm participating if need be so I can keep my seat but I'd rather not as theres prizes for the top 3 finishers and I'm currently first lol.

^ I'll be more then willing to step in and take the position on a permanent basis Alonso

Ok guys, i've just PMed akmuq about 'the situation' and hopefully he'll get back to us soon. I'll make a decision based on that;

If he can cover for Jamie-C, Jamie keeps the slot. If he can't, then realistically Jamie and Jerry should switch positions. I think these are the two fairest outcomes.

Hey guys just bought a DFGT, great wheel! Just need to set it up correctly now lol

Ok, akmuq says he should be available for two of these races. So are you happy enough then Jamie if I keep your seat with Akmuq filling in at the start of the season?

Jerry, if you're online this sunday then you can have a slot for the practice race as neither Jamie nor Akmuq can make it.

Thats 2 races the reserve driver will fill in for, what about the other two? :)
I should be on for Sunday's practice session

Well the idea of reserve drivers is that they all belong to a specific team. They score points for their team, not multiple teams depending on who isn't available each week.

I'll add some information to the original post to make it clearer on the issue of reserve drivers.

I'll most likely be away from the computer until possibly late sunday afternoon just to let people know. I'll be sending out invites to both the race lobby and chat room before 19:30 GMT on sunday so anyone who wants to attend please be ready.

Look forward to seeing you all on sunday 👍

Well tonight is the night I need to get some decent practice in using the DFGT and also getting use to manual gears, wish me luck :P

Just to let you guys know I'll be there for practice tomorrow. Maybe on for a bit later also, after I run some more academy laps.

I'm becoming more and more suspicious that the "Equal" car performance is not equal at all. I just tested a Ferrari at 25 laps and ran out of fuel (using the fast engine setting). It was miles easier to drive fast than the Lotus too. I'm going to look into this more, because if there is a difference, its going to have quite an effect in races as obviously there its a advantage/disadvantage.
Certainly the default setups are not adequate for the Lotus and other slower cars because the boost in performance brought with "Equal" is way beyond the default gear ratio. Suggests to me that they are not given the same physics as the top cars, they are simply given more horsepower and downforce.

Yea I'm happy with this :)

If Akmuq can only make 2 races...and i can make all 4..

Im willing to fill in for Jamie for all 4 races then thats me done

Well, Ok Jerry, if you want to do that then I guess that's fair enough. Perhaps you and Akmuq could be swapped as reserve drivers for Jordan and Benetton - you could be Jordan's reserve? Akmuq can't really commit to races so it's probably best that way. By the way, i've added you on PSN network but I don't think you've responded yet. I'll need you on my friends list in order to be invited.

Strange, i've honestly never noticed this Ardius. I have heard people saying that the Red Bull is the car which all the online cars are based on. This makes sense as on occasion i'm able to go faster online than I can in time trial mode, and I think this is because certain circuits are faster with the Red Bull whereas most are faster in the McLaren.

We'll press ahead with things as they are because I don't see that there's a lot that can be done if indeed cars do have different performance.

By the way, as it stands we have 10 people confirmed for tonight, these are:

Shaggy Alonso
Mutu20
DonkeyFuzz
darkpsi
NumbPhase
DOUQA
vavie_krk
cjh1122
tombrooks97
Jerry786

Anyone else who is available, let me know now if you want to enter. Manios, if you would like to fill in for your team mate Baumi then that'd be great.

OK guys just one final announcement. For those wishing to take part in tonight's practice, please be online before 19:30 GMT. I will be online from about 19:15 or so.

Remember, 19:30 is when we are aiming to start the race.

Thanks, see you all soon 👍 :)
