I can't see how he made that manouver. He was likely being showed a blue flag, he had the P1 on its back all the straight, and when the P1 disappears from his rearview mirror he thinks it's right to take the inside line of the corner!!!

I know the class is called GT-AM but that was extreme...

Imagine if the Ferrari driver was the GT Academy driver, the backlash would be astonding

BS. The Toyota is the faster car in the situation. He is not racing the Ferrari. Dumb move by the Toyota to overtake him in that corner.

Doesn't mean a driver shouldn't be using his mirrors.

Passing a car on the inside of a corner is what you are supposed to do, so stop talking rubbish.

My last poss shows my frustrations to the Ferrari, but personally, Id never pass on that apex before the Mulsanne corner

Oh man, just saw the replay for that accident. :( That was pretty sad ending to whatever LMP car that was. (I couldn't tell :indiff:)

Hmm Davidson was directly alongside before the apex of the corner so I don't blame Davidson at all in this incident.

Totally that ferrari's fault...

No it wasn't

Ferrari was taking the racing line its up to the driver of the car behind to make sure they can get passed cleanly even if they are being lapped, toybota wasn't flashing his lights.

At least now davidson knows what happens when the car behind tries to pass him and "doesn't" see them ;)

I think it was both driver's fault. The Toyota should have realized that he wasn't gonna pass the Ferrari from the inside. The Ferrari driver didn't see the Toyota at all. He might have more fault than the Toyota, but it wasn't entirely's the Ferrari's fault.

Ferrari still sucks, though.

That AF Corse AM ferrari has been off the track several times if I recall correctly.

A) mirror issues on the Ferraris were supposed to be fixed, right?
B) the Ferrari hit the rear wheel of the Toyota, WHERE or WHAT was that driver thinking about?

RLM are making a good point, the current regulations are supposed to stop that kind of flip happening in LMP1. Might affect thinking on new regulations of 2014

Gosh, what a frightening crash there.. Hope the drivers are alright. But a bit mad too in part of the move Ferrari made. Though Davidson could have taken the outside seconds before, or the Ferrari giving Davidson some space. Either way, what had happen happened, and might as well learn from that and recover.

That "It's the P1 cars fault" taught seems ridiculous to me. What are blue flags for then? GTs have to move out of the way everytime. And this man not only didn't moved out of the way but got in the Toyota's way. No excuses really for GT-AM boy, other that he wasn't paying attention and made a dumb move.

TK being interviewed saying his car has something wrong with the suspension still. The R18 e-tron quattro is pulling to the left and being hard under braking.

Davdison wasn't behind he had the racing line and was ahead into the corner.

And that is why the Toyota should be the more wise one. Amateurs on the track.

Read above.

Someone agreeing with you does not make you right.

Passing on the inside of a corner is correct behavior regardless of what you think.

The rules are that it is the role of the faster car to make the pass safely. But you'd think the ferrari saw him. The Toyota was even halfway past!
