Yeah well the guy doesn't work for Nissan anymore, so moot point. My last post sums it up nicely.
Because bringing an untested, underdeveloped car to the most prestigious race of the year is a good idea and makes your company look good đź‘Ť I'm not saying they ever had a chance at winning this and I'm not saying that that's what the sole acceptable outcome was. I'm saying that the showing isn't a good one for a big manufacturer with a big budget and it's not gonna have the desired effect in terms of PR.

But I'll agree to disagree. You've got a pretty strong oppinion of Nissan and I respect that.

If Hulkenberg wins then F1 drivers have no excuse if there isn't a GP on at the same time, they should try Le Mans no matter what. Granted the possible seats are few and far between, one of the LMP1s uses Williams tech so there's that but apart from that, it's probably only Ferrari in GTE that could do it, and they'd only be able to push for class wins. Unless Red Bull does its thing and takes over a team, or Lotus decides it's still the Kolles car after all, there aren't many seats...

...but then again, it's Le Mans, so who gives a ****??
I think driver contracts play a part for most drivers, I mean Kimi Raikkonen wanted to do a motorbike race and had to use the alias "James Hunt" so his team didn't find out.

Using a fake name would be a little more difficult for Le Mans, so the only way is for a driver to demand less limiting contracts.

I just woke up. Can some one let me know a brief summary of what happened overnight? Mainly LMP1.

There was a snowmobile race Kimi did that for too.

But John Winter pulled it off and won. So there's a precedent.

So since they only found out about all the KERS issues in the last few weeks leading to the big race and knowing they would essentially be running close to LMP2 class, Nissan shouldnt have shown up to race? After all the advertisement they did you don't think being absent at Le Mans would be a bigger blow in terms of PR?

  • Nissan and ByKolles have been mobile chicanes for so many things on track.
  • Toyota is running an unremarkable race, I mean it's not a bad race, they're just being left behind. Same with the Rebs.
  • Audi is suffering from a few problems, pace is great but... problems and all that
  • Porsche has been going well.

Oh it doesn't look good at all, but you gotta do what you gotta do if you have the opportunity. :)

Let's please let the Nisssn debate stop? How many times are heads going to bump over a car.
