Yeah, I think the writing was on the wall since early Mustang(FR500) and Camaro were homologated. Had more teams run them in the initial GT4 European Northern Cup Series, it would be a different story. Only one team ran the Camaro GT4 and then GT4.R for its entirety and one team ran the GT4 Mustang(S550) for one race.

GT4.R was a crowd favourite, but it’s like the same with the Z. The parent brands just don’t want to spend the money to support teams. However, too funny that lone unsupported Audi R8 GT4, in the GT4 European Series, still beats the field. Should be interesting to see how the lone R8 performs here.

Randall Racing is expected to expand on its entry line-up for the season, with announcements to be made in due course.
Whether by drivers or cars, the field keeps growing and growing.

The 2025 season is looking very promising. Hopefully there's consistently high entries throughout the season.

Same. I can’t see the numbers dropping dramatically like GT3. Especially with the popularity and prospect of racing these cars anywhere. It’s the perfect pathway after pretty much anything from karts to GR86s. Other than budget and sponsorship, many drivers don’t have to wait for a seat to open up in other categories with high competition for those limited seats. Plus, as drivers get older, they can still play in this series with a quality field of racers.

The variety and competitiveness of each available car means there aren’t any bad choices.

Big stuff! This is the place to be.

Now, Campbell and Crick have turned to American muscle for their attack on Monochrome GT4 Australia’s Silver-Am Cup by acquiring a new Ford Mustang GT4 through Miedecke Motorsport.
The pair’s Mustang is due to arrive in the country soon, with Campbell and Crick aiming to do some testing depending on the customs process prior to its debut at Round 1.

“We’ve watched it, we know it’s a good thing and the cars are serious, which is what we want to be in,” said Campbell.

“We won the national title in Production Cars, so we feel like that is a box ticked and we want to move on to challenge ourselves in a category that is tougher again.

“We’ve chosen to go down the muscle car route. The Mustangs are starting to prove themselves. Don’t get me wrong I still love the BMW, though we had to weigh up what our sponsors wanted. Also, the outlay for the Mustang is more expensive, but then taking a deep dive into the costs of parts and it is a lot more cost effective to run.

“Miedecke Motorsport is going to have the truck there with the parts to buy it if you need it, which is also advantageous.

The Production Cars got dropped from the supports at Winton last weekend.

They only had three entries.

Now that's a huuuge drop in interest for the category, and I can only think it's because people are only interested in saving their pennies for the Bathurst 6 hour, or they're fed up with being the filler in a BMW show.

The promoters for the 6hr are expecting a record entry list of over 70 cars for this year's race.
However, the Production Cars as a category cannot survive on one race alone.

The category is scheduled to appear at SMP on the 1st June. Let's see who can be bothered turning up.

It’s unfortunate the last great showing for a battle of the brands was Chaz grinding gears in the Focus RS versus the M135.

GT4 may just be a bit expensive for smaller teams to invest in, but maybe not too much to purchase an older Vantage GT4 or M3 GT4 if they’re eligible.

There’s no official entry list yet, but I think we’re looking at a 32-car field if everyone are racing at PI.

Yes, the category was a lot more enjoyable when you didn't need a Bavarian to win, and the front of the field was a lot more diverse.

That 70+ entry list would drop significantly if they restricted entries to cars 5 or 10 years old as a maximum, and some are absolutely on a shoestring budget to the point, if they blow a motor, they're out for the weekend.
Major damage that needs a new shell, and it's career over.

The Sherrin's could sell their fleet of cars & spares, and join the GT4 brigade quite easily.
I would think very few of the current Proddy crowd could do the same.
There's too many opportunities to keep what they've got and race at State level, or in another category where their car is eligible.

For sure. The price cap should have had a couple fine print clauses about M cars, as the 335i was fast enough.

Oh well. We’ll see if APC make any changes to keep people participating.

Alrighty then. Time to test the for better or worse. ;)
“I’m really happy to have my husband Lib, as my co-driver, it makes for a more peaceful household competing with him rather than against him.
