Anyone know why it is that AF Corse runs in both GTE Pro and GTE Am?

Speaking of those two classes, looks like the Astons are currently running away with it, but no one's reached last year's qualifying times by the AF Corse Ferraris yet (they got a 3:53.700 in session 3 last year).

Like AMR they run both full on pro and paying line ups. Difference is AF Corse run 100+ cars worldwide so aren't really short of money.

But they're still FWD, overweight and low on testing mileage, and are low on natural engine power. It's like everything is against them. I don't support Nissan as a whole, but the fact this thing is running laps at all is astonishing.

It's really not ready at all. Like I said earlier in either this thread or the other one, in the first practice session this morning, the #7 Audi had done more laps itself than all 3 Nissans together. It's not just the speed that is lacking, it seems to be various things that don't seem to work together. I do fear that even though Nissan themselves are telling us to treat all of this like a big test session and that 2016 is their goal, their image will take a serious beating. I don't quite see how they can pick up what is figuratively 10 years worth of pace for next year, when they claim they'll be serious contenders.

The car has shown it's capable already, it has a great chassis, and I see no problems in their 2016 goal. The only thing I worry about are the Nissan haters who will call the project a joke solely based on this outing. If everyone knew just how hampered it is, they'd change their tune.

I see they do a more thorough screening for the marshalls lately: :)

Quick run down:
  • I'm not surprised about Porsche.
  • I'm not surprised about Audi.
  • Toyota pls.
  • Rebellion are quite handy.
  • At least there's one Nissan ahead of the Colin's Laundered Moneys.

The #98 Aston is only a couple of tenths off quickest GTE car, I guess that's not a surprise with a pro driver racing for a pro team in the same spec car as the pro's.

4 Seconds off of pole is not too shabby for the Viper, I hope they'll make a good job this year and return in their full glory 2016-17. Fingers crossed.

As for the 3:16 of the Porsche, holy crap, thats swooooshy-fast. :dopey:

I can't believe it's almost time to say goodbye forever to the open top cars. :guilty:

They're full on prototypes now. With the P1s being pegged back next year, and the GT500s going into their final year, there's a good chance they'll be dead-even.
GT500 is getting the boot?

We go through this every year it seems. People put way too much emphasis on qualifying speeds.

Also, go Porsche in LMP1, Strakka in LMP2 and Corvette in GTE!!!
