Not to mention that this is the first 24 Hours of Le Mans EVER... without open top cars

Not quite, the last time no open-top cars competed, was 1991.

Edit: Last year, there was the LMP2 spec, Garage 56 entry, which was open top, famous last year for having adapted controls, for one of it's drivers who was a quadruple amputee, sadly forget the driver's name.

Really? I wasn't aware of that.

That's right, I forgot about him. Such a cool thing for him to be able to do.

Yea, Frédéric Sausset, was the driver in question, an absolute legend last year, full respect for doing what he did and competing, and competing
competitively

Here's some interesting article and an interview from last year, covering it:

I knew about him, 1991 not having open tops I wasn't aware of.

He's also gone out of his way to help Billy Monger get back into racing, they'll be sharing a car in a VdeV race in November, he has plans to put together an all disabled driver line-up at Le Mans by 2020 although he won't be driving in it himself.

This may have already been mentioned in the night, but seeing the #2 Porsche on the overall podium isn't out of the question.

That's awesome news! I have so much respect, and can only admire how Monger has battled adversity the past couple of months, and is so optimistic and full of life about it. Can't wait to see him back racing, and teaming up with a guy like Sausset is a great way to start. Props to both, and I hope Sausset is successful in his goal of getting a full disabled lineup.

GAAAHHH

Looks like one of my P2 hopefuls is out of the running for podium, but at least the 38 is still holding the class lead...

What happened to the Dalla Lana/Lamy #98 this morning? Sure that was not far off AM lead before I went bed.
