Yup, the 56 entry open type. They've thinned em for a couple years but there had been some year old stuff hanging around for a while. Not quite, the last time no open-top cars competed, was 1991.
Edit: Last year, there was the LMP2 spec, Garage 56 entry, which was open top.
Really? I wasn't aware of that. Not quite, the last time no open-top cars competed, was 1991.
Edit: Last year, there was the LMP2 spec, Garage 56 entry, which was open top, famous last year for having adapted controls, for one of it's drivers who was a quadruple amputee, sadly forget the driver's name.
That's right, I forgot about him. Such a cool thing for him to be able to do.Not quite, the last time no open-top cars competed, was 1991.

Last year there were also 5 regular open top P2 cars that raced. As seen on the spotters guide here: https://www.google.com/amp/www.road...ts/news/amp29478/2016-le-mans-spotters-guide/That's right, I forgot about him. Such a cool thing for him to be able to do.

I knew about him, 1991 not having open tops I wasn't aware of.Yea, Frédéric Sausset, was the driver in question, an absolute legend last year, full respect for doing what he did and competing, and competing
competitively
Here's some interesting article and an interview from last year, covering it:

He's also gone out of his way to help Billy Monger get back into racing, they'll be sharing a car in a VdeV race in November, he has plans to put together an all disabled driver line-up at Le Mans by 2020 although he won't be driving in it himself.Yea, Frédéric Sausset, was the driver in question, an absolute legend last year, full respect for doing what he did and competing, and competing

Here is the news article from yesterday: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/130192That's awesome news! I have so much respect, and can only admire how Monger has battled adversity the past couple of months, and is so optimistic and full of life about it. Can't wait to see him back racing, and teaming up with a guy like Sausset is a great way to start. Props to both, and I hope Sausset is successful in his goal of getting a full disabled lineup.
