I still maintain that the Toyota GT-One TS020, is by far the best looking Le Mans car (if not race car actually) ; particularly in '98 Zent GT1 form, and my favourite race car of all time

When I was a kid I had a book (which was newly printed at the time) with a bunch of different things about cars and types of racing in it and the first time I saw a Le Mans car was in the 3-5 pages about it in that book, and the GT-One in that livery was the car in it and it had some cutaway diagrams on it, very cool.

Definitely one of the most important prototypes too. In my opinion, it was probably the 2nd most influential car on the modern era, behind the BMW V12 LMR.

Saying Mercedes would be the hypothetical manufacturer of my P1 team got me thinking what's in my opinion the best looking Le Mans car, the C11.

phantom rear wheels ain't doing it for me, I'm gonna go with the C11 Mercedes

That's assuming the Cadillac DPI never gets to turn a wheel at Le Mans

Not worth it unless your HDMI quality is bad. The stream has no commercials.
Just noticed that, I've already had two commercials since. I was just trying to give my laptop a break considering its been streaming since 10am EST. BUT I have no patience for these commercials every 15 min.

Yup, it had no commercials until the point where it came back on FS1 20 minutes ago. Adjusting my set up to have Fox on the TV and RLM audio from the laptop.

@Vinylshark I may get of a lot of flak for saying this, but here goes, I don't think the XJR-9 Jag is that good looking, what helps the most with that car, is the classic Silk Cut livery, which makes it look better, otherwise it's not that special...

I think the best looking of the Group C cars with the "phantom" rear wheel covers, was the Nissan R89C IMO.

I know all the factory teams do 25 hour tests on their cars, and I know Audi even did 48 hour tests. But I wonder how many of those tests were in temps as hot as they will see this afternoon?

It shares nothing body wise with it, Porsche yes. But with the money GM can throw at things it would be anything but a poor man's car.
GM, or American companies for that matter, and money for a prototype program don't usually go in the same sentence. Like I said, I like the Caddy, and I got to see it in person from a foot away in the paddock at Detroit a couple weeks ago, but I see a lot of cues from the 919 that when the 919 came out I thought came from the R18. Plus the timing of the release, it was like it was trying to fill an Audi shaped hole in my heart so that's always how I've thought of it.

I'll say this, and this might be my unpopular viewpoint, but I loved the Corvette DP a lot more than the Caddy. Especially being someone who has seen them both race in person, that Vette was one bad mother.

That's because they never tried nor have a reason too when GTE does the job they want in a PR marketing angle. 919 doesn't share much with the R18 even in the first year, the later years it got more and more far apart.

The DPi is faster, louder, and more powerful and better aero wise. Vette doesn't stand up to it really, no former DP does.

Ah! Not louder. Faster yes, more powerful yes. I always liked the visual look of the Corvette DP, like the road car/race blends you'd see at Le Mans in the late 90s. But yeah, like I said I was at Belle Isle a couple weeks ago (which I attend every year) and I can honestly tell you the DPi Caddy is quieter than the Corvette DP was. The Corvette DP was one of the loudest cars I've heard in my life (have not seen GTPro/GTLM cars in person), TV never did that car just. First time I heard it was on a cross over bridge as the IMSA's were released for practice, and I was never more sure the world was ending than when that Corvette DP drove beneath me.

I am an Audi fan boy so I'm sure the R18 influence is inflated to me. The leading edge of the rear fender though, first time that kind of leading edge was used I'm pretty sure was the 2011 R18, and the R18 being the first to use that general raised front style on a P1 the 919 used, and that's where that thought originated.

I don't know how it isn't louder, from what I've heard it is louder than the Vette GTE/GTLM which uses the same engine...

I mean there is only so much variation you can do on aero design, especially with in a rule set, so I'm sure there is similar stuff considering how many there have been over the years.

Good on James Calado for putting his hand up and saying it's his fault.

Lol, I looked up to see the onboard of the #1 in the slow zone and my heart skipped a beat, cus I didn't realize it was a slow zone.

Well, like I said I've never seen the GTLM cars, but I can honestly say the Gibson motor was the loudest prototype at the IMSA race. I'd compair the Corvette DP to a deeper/throatier Gibson. The Caddy is a lower note than the Vette DP and it definitely rumbles, but it doesn't rattle things like the Corvette DP did.

And yeah, my view of the aero is definitely jaded.

Well the Gibson runs at a higher rev, so I'm not surprised it screams. It's like comparing a 458 GTE to a Aston Martin GTE V8 wise.
