I was at IMS too, sat in the Turn 3 Infield. 
(Wore my JR Hilderbrand shirt and hat when he was with Panther and the National Guard ride, btw.) That crowd was insane especially when Hunter-Reay took the lead! 
This was my seventh one that I have been to and since it was Jim Nabors last one, it's going to be really sad as all get out that no more "Back Home in Indiana" sang by him. I will also be attending the Sports Car race on Super Weekend in July, and the Moto GP in August.
I'll get the photos from the race that I took in this post at a later time.

So........ I see that picket from the Westboro people went well and succeeded in banning Jim Nabors from the race
I actually avoided that plague. Jim Nabors actually decided a few years ago that this would be his last year because of his health being rough. Nabors missed I think last year (health issues again?), but was sang the song live in 2012 when Wheldon's winning 2011 car was being driven around by Bryan Herta.... with Taps played before and after. That was so emotionally awesome that made me have tears in my eyes and its hard not to have them when I talk about it.

To Ryan Hunter-Reay: I've been cheering you on ever since your amazing Rookie of the Year season in the 2003 Champ Car World Series. I still believed in you even after you lost your ride multiple times. And after all that, you still managed to smile and sign autographs for me and my fellow race fans. You became my favorite driver because you never gave up, and because you have the heart of a champion! Congratulations Ryan! You're now an Indianapolis 500 Champion! You've made us American IndyCar fans proud! USA! USA! USA!
Onto Detroit, the 2014 IndyCar Triple Crown, and the 2014 IndyCar Series Championship!
