A lap at Nurburgring in YOUR car

I thought this would be a fun idea... basically, take a car which you personally own that is also in GT4, and mod it to match your personal car as best as is possible. Obviously it won't be perfect, but just get it as close you can. If you own more than one car that's also in GT4, feel free to do multiple times. The idea here is to have fun and see what your actual street car is capable of. (or your race car if you own one) You can choose a car which you currently have, or one you have previously owned, whatever you want, as long as you have both owned and driven it.

Here's the rules:
Car Rules:
1. Choose the most applicable version and year of your car which you can find.
2. If you have a good idea of how much power your car produces (dyno, or otherwise), try to make it match as close as possible
3. If you have all-season tires, go with the N1 tires. If you have performance tires, go with the N2 tires. If you have ultra high performance/max performance tires, go with the N3 tires. If you have race tires, like Hoosiers or Victoracers, you can choose S2's.
4. Nitrous can be used only if you actually have nitrous on your car
5. Go through and choose which mods your personal car actually has, and choose the most applicable mods.

Race Rules:
1. Quickest Nurburgring time for one single lap (which lap you record is your choice, doesn't have to be the first, slow-start lap).
2. Must be done in practice mode, without any other cars.
3. No riding walls, cutting corners, etc.
4. A-Spec mode only.

General Rules:
1. Post your laptime and car. Post pictures of your real car if possible. Show all the mods you have done and all the corresponding mods you chose in GT4.
2. Multiple submissions are welcome if you find a new best, or just want to report what you got with a different car, etc
3. Obviously pictures and videos aren't required, this is meant to be fun, but try to be honest.

'91 Toyota MR2 (NA -> Turbo swap) (it's currently in pieces in a shed, but hey, this gives me the illusion of driving it again, lol)

GT4 car:

My real car's relevant mods:
3sgte engine (jspec, 225hp stock)
Manual boost controller - 15psi boost (est power gain - 40hp)
Intake, downpipe, exhaust (est power gain - 20hp)
Tokico struts and eibach springs
Fidanza Flywheel & Clutchmasters stage 3 clutch
Wider wheels and tires, ultra high performance tires
Extensive weight reduction (est under 2400lbs)

this is a great idea, unfortunatly, as I, (like many others) do not have a car that GT4 has in the game.
I've screwed around with some cars my brother has owned, like his F-body firebird (97 camaro), and his 03 nissan 350z, but his civic, Mustang, and my Grand Am were apparently not fit for a racing game. (sad face)
 
There should be a Civic that is close enough.(for most generations at least) It is hard to find an exact duplicate car sometimes, but many people should at least have something near the same. I figured there would be more sports car buffs here. :)

130hp, '02, American EX model, with a sunroof, 5-sp, Injen intake, and a muffler SOHC V-Tec. Eibach sportline, with no camber kit (resulting with wicked camber, prolly 4 degrees, and shredding the inside off of 3 tires) rims/tires. Trust me, I've tried.
 
My real car:

GT4 car:
'89 Nissan Silvia Q's in Arcade mode with -20% power and no change in weight.

My real car's relevant mods:
M10B18 engine (101hp stock)
ANSA Freeflow Exhaust(est power gain - 4hp)
K&N Air Filter (est power gain - 0hp)
Mild weight reduction (est 2350lbs)
Pirelli P6's

GT4 car mods:
(stock engine ~138hp, I think)
Power reduction -20% to 107hp
No change in weight (~2405lbs.)
N2 (Comfort) tires

Just for the heck of it, I did my daily driver Civic. The power was too high, but what the heck, nobody's perfect, lol.

*edit*, I did it in arcade mode which gave me better control over the power. I also upped the weight, as my car is the Sedan version, which weighs a touch more. Damn it took forever to get around there, lol.

* I don't know where they got 206bhp from. My car and the game car are both 1998 models and should both have 194bhp. From 1999 onwards, the real one received some sort of variable valve timing which upped the power to 210bhp.
 
This is a fantastic idea!!

In the real world by Scooby has 280bhp, tuned up from the UK standard of 215 for that year.
Uprated rollbars, springs some chassis strengtening in terms of upper and lower strut braces at both ends.
Short ratio gearbox from the STi and Pirelli Pzero tyres.

So I think that as far as this game goes a saloon STi6 in standard trim should be about as close as I'll get. Should be fun.

Can I also try my girlfriend's well OTT 380bhp Supra on fully adjustable Koni's.

I used to own a 240z as well, which was a total rusted out heap of crap, lol, but a cool car nonetheless. Having driven it here, it could really really do with a limited slip and some stickier rubber.

Real car:
'73 Datsun 240z
Header + exhaust, est 160hp.
Iffy but wide performance tires

GT4 car:
'71 Nissan 240zg
148hp stock -> uprated to 160hp
N2 tires

I'll probably practice a little more and get a better time.

lol, you obviously haven't been at MR2oc very long. Go ahead and start up a thread about me, lol. I used to be a member, before I was banned permanently for a disagreement with the nazi mr2oc mods. That place is totally out of control and ridiculous, I'm amazed people still tolerate them and go there. I'm over at www.mr2board.com, a slightly smaller, but way more fun board, where you are treated with respect by the mods and threads aren't locked down by the dozens each day.

BTW, your mki looks fantastic!! Very very nice car, it looks really clean.

With the corrected weight and a pretty clean run:

With the same setup as I did before, but a much cleaner lap:

Agh... I AM going to do this... I've already got the power of my in-game proty nearly as low as the power of my real-life car... just 15hp more off the top... (still only 7000km on it).
 
I think this is a pretty good idea. Unfortunately PD didnt allow the 69 Camaro in GT4 to have 18" wheels and a 6 speed tranny. :sly:
I guess I could try and set the final tranny gears close to mine then go for a spin. The Camaro in GT4 never handled as good as mine in real life at all.

I'm in two minds about how the handling compares between the two: on the one hand my car understeers rudely coming out of roundabouts hard in 2nd gear, accurately mimicked in GT4 :yuck: ; on the other hand, in faster bends, the 4WS on my car makes it feel really planted, and understeer is almost totally absent even when you can hear the tyres squealing, which is not the case in GT4. It must be said, though, that this is still on the road, not the track, and I doubt I am pushing as hard IRL as I am in GT4, however heroic I feel;)

The Civic has a higher power-to-weight ratio, so I'm not surprised. :lol: I don't think I can go any faster than that 9:50. :)

By the way, shouldn't you put our real cars on the first post? I don't own a Silvia Q's, it's just the closest to my car in terms of age/suspension design, power, weight, and coefficient of drag.

Higher power to weight, yes, slightly, but it's front wheel drive... and a Civic... lol
