Thanks for the link and the info, errk. Looks like I need to scope out more detail on the GT version of my car. I found the real gear ratios for the G so I'll make sure those are set right. I haven't compared the weights either.

Question: are the Brembo brakes that come stock on the G35 Coupe good for a brake upgrade on the GT version?

From what I remember some G35s have better brakes than others. If you have the nice big brembos, then yeah, a brake upgrade would be fine.

I set the gears exactly as they are in the real G and put on the racing brakes since my G has the Brembos. The gear settings did not help. They're slightly longer than the game settings so the revs drop a little more. Of course, on the back straightaway I get a couple more mphs with 6th gear but on this track that hardly matters. The brakes help in a couple spots, particularly at the end the long backstretch (where I too often tend to wait a split second too long to brake).

The tires and gear settings are forcing me to drive much smoother. My best lap was:

8.15.681

I got ahead of that time by about .5 halfway through on a couple botched attempts so I'll push for an 8.14 with this setup and then I'll be done with the G.

I couldn't find the gear settings in the manual. According to Infinitihelp.com they are:

3.794
2.324
1.624
1.271
1.000
.794
3.446

errk...I decided to try your car. After the power upgrades, I ended up at 340hp but your spec says 352. Not sure how to get to 352 or if 340 is the max. My first impression was that the car is undrivable but I managed to tame the little beast and put together a 7.52.428. I messed up a few corners on the back and would shoot for 7.49.x. Pretty spunky car but it understeers like a mutha.

hmm I currently drive an 02 mustang GT 5speed.. making around 300 or so hp.... 268 at the wheels... But the Cobra R is way too modded and the 05 GT is a different platform... so im kinda screwed there.....
But I did have a bone stock 02 GSX-R 1000 for a few years....
Can i toss in TT and use that :)?

Honestly less power probably helps. My car makes closer to 500 at the flywheel, but the game won't let me raise the power any more or lighten the car anymore. Try an oil change in gt auto for more power though. Since my car makes more like 350 crank on my low boost setting. I might add a 50 shot to replicate me hitting high boost on my boost controller. That makes sence right?

"You can choose a car which you currently have, or one you have previously owned, whatever you want, as long as you have both owned and driven it."

anything you have ever owned.

Both the Cobra R and 05 GT have diff rear suspension than your car anyway right? Just do an 05 GT and make it the same power/weight ratio as your car. n3 tires if you have z rated performance tires. s2 if you have drag radials or autocross racing tires.

Not sure what you mean about the 50 shot (nitrous?) but since you mention it, less power is probably better. Either that or I would have to dial up the traction control a bit. :ouch:

But none of that matters now. My DF Pro finally quit on me. About a month ago the accelerator started having these little random fits of not staying at 100%. About two week ago the upshift paddle started skipping gears so I had to switch to R3, which took some getting use to. Finally this morning one of the wheel gears broke and now the wheel won't turn at all. Game Crazy here I come.

errk - Can you please use your edit button and stop the double posts. Thanks.

well the cobra r has independant rear suspension...
I didnt even think of that...
But the 05 GT has a solid rea axle just like mine... but it too is slightly different... but if i add about 5-10 hp and drop the weight a bit i should be able to get somewhat close... ah we'll see...lol
And no drag raidals on my car at the moment... I could add R3's in the rear if i mounted my slicks right? I dont think that r3's in the back and n3's in the front would handle very well

I'll have to give this a shot. Got an 87 MR2 that I use for autocross...

BTW, where would Falken Azenis fall for tires? S1 or S2...

OK Here's what I have so far, this is terribly close to being right on as far as feel goes! (it does spin the tires a little bit more in third gear than my car does...) 05 mustang GT@ 1484kg witch is the stock weight of an 02 GT (my car may be a few kg lighter than stock due to a few mods :) )
I managed to get near perfect stock gearing and my 3.73 rear gear ratio with the full custom trans...(not using 6th)
I am using a sports clutch because i have a Spec stage 3 installed in my car (and its awefully stiff :()
I fitted semi racing exhaust to get to 312 hp, witch is close to my cars 305-320 at the flywheel) sounds close too ,and also considering that I have long tube headers and no catylitic converters with a steeda exhaust exiting the rear of the car :)

Racing brakes because I have upgraded my brakes to a 13" Baer track kit in the front with slotted cross drilled Baer rotors..
also Ford Racing slotted/drilled rear rotors and Hawk perfomance pads.

Carbon driveshaft_ I have an aftermarket aluminum shaft installed in my car so this may be a stretch but closest i could come to it...lol

I picked the sports suspension considering I have Steeda sport springs, aluminum upper and lower rear control arms also from steeda, maximum motorsports caster camber plates and full length subframe connectors- even though these increase chassis rigidityi dont think they warrant a full chasis mod :(
thats it for the mods other than the n3 tires to match up with my BF goodrich G-Force T/A kdw tires... gonna run some laps now and see what i can do! :)

Edit: 8:29.933 With an off into some sand.. I'd like to think i could manage high 8:1x.xxx
A better player could definatly smoke that time with this car...lol
If anyone wants the stock gear ratios I have them writen down... ):

Can you please keep personal messages not pertaining to the topic in PMs please. Thanks.

azuremen - normally i would say that z rated tires are n3s, but the falken azenis with the terrible treadwear rating might stretch for s1s, def not s2s though.

I havent played gt4 in a while, probably since getting my nx so what is a good nx1600 imatator?? I should fire up the game and see it the 91-93 sentra is in it, or the 200sx?

You do realize he's a mod right? Anyway, if you want my post to pertain to the subject, I will add something to my post.
Power to weight isn't anything, I'd prefer similar weight and not similar power or vice versa, over higher weight but higher power, I want to keep it as close as possible think, is a 1lb 1HP car going to be the same as a 10,000lb 10,000HP car? No. which is why I like the still-4wd-and-close-HP-and-weight-but-not-perfect Lancia Delta HF Integrale. :) If I can I'll get a laptime ASAP.

Real Car... has an estimate 190 HP

1987 Toyota MR2 Hardtop - Base Model

Engine and Tranny
Silvertop 20V 4A-GE Swap
Piggy back ECU control from Megasquirt
Configured for MAP from AFM
HKS Exhaust
HKS Intake
Light weight flywheel
TRD street/race clutch

Suspension and Handling
TRD Bushings
Eibach Ground Control Adjustable Springs
Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable struts
18 MM Front sway bar
9 MM Rear sway bar
Rear and front strut braces
Slotted Brake rotors
TRD brake pads
TRD steel brake lines
195/60/R14 Falken Azenis mounted on Sentra SE-R (B13) wheels

Also have pulled AC and replaced seats with Momo's

What I did in GT4

1986 MR2 (Oddly enough, it has the sidevent for the 87)
NA Tuning stage 3
Semi racing exhaust
Port and Polish
Balancing
Sport Chip

Power is at 189 HP

I did the semi racing suspension, middle range clutch, flywheel and left the tranny stock.
Upgraded the brakes and pulled weight.

Used S1 tires.

Some notes - My car revs to 8500 RPM, and the power band is slightly different, but this works. Also, the transmission in GT4 is off a little bit. First 3 gears are too tall compared to the C52 series tranny in my MR2.

Final time after 2 laps.

8:25'052

And I am sure there are several seconds left in there.

I had only noticed your double posts in this thread, so I thought I'd make a post in this thread. But anyway, I see you have taken notice of my post. Thanks.

Power to weight isn't anything,

Yeah, my post wasn't anymore unfriendly than his was it? :)

You mean isn't everything? because power to weight is the main thing i look for to even up cars. Of course i try to keep similar drivetrains and what not. I was just trying to find an SUV really. Isn't the rover awd?

... Also, the transmission in GT4 is off a little bit. First 3 gears are too tall compared to the C52 series tranny in my MR2...

Upgrade the tranny and fine tune the ratios if you'd like. I like to try to get it as authentic as possible.

Yes sorry, meant everything. No laptime yet though, interested in completion right now. This is an ongoing thing right? No deadline?

I may go in and do that... though I am a tad bit lazy ;)

I should how the car should be setup by the end of next season, with the turbo and stuff. Though GT4 doesn't give nearly enough power for a turbo 4a 20v... oh well.

Doesn't give enough power for my car either, but then I use a 50 shot to simulate my hi/lo boost switch. For me its pretty much what I would do anyway, because I can't put down power in turns and lower gears.

Wow you all have such good cars.
I have an '82 Mk1 Golf GTI Convertible.
Its a bit more powerful than the one in the game as it is newer and has a five speed box. Though it is a bit heavier due to the soft top.
I did a 9'40'009
My other car is a '97 Mk3 Golf 1.9 Diesel (it goes like a glacier) any suggestions for an equal car in the game.:)

I posted the following in the old thread yesterday & then noticed this one today, so here they are again...

Great idea! This was a Blast! Can't believe I never thought of doing it before. I actually had to buy the car first.

I have a '97 Camaro SS 30th Anniversary edition
Power: 330hp LT4
Weight: 3350lb=1520kg
Final Gearing: 3.420
Top Speed: 155.4mph
I used the '00 Camaro SS
Power: 331hp w/ no power mods
Weight: 1560kg w/ no weight reduction, since it would have been to light
Final Gearing: 3.420
Top Speed Attained: <155mph Prolly due to the extra weight
Tires: Sports Mediums came on the car
8'06.902 Wanted more, but was anxious to move on to my bikes...

I have an '03 Buell XB9R Firebolt
Power: 101hp
Exhaust: Buell Race Kit
Top Speed: 131.? I was actually there when they tested the Euro spec bike
I used the '05 Buell XB12R
Power: 104hp
Exhaust: Sports
Top Speed: 131.6 using 2.600 final gearing
Tires: Performance
8'08.877 Pretty easy to ride!

I have an '02 Aprilia Mille
Power: ~130hp
Exhaust: Evo Ti
Top Speed: 170mph with 44 tooth rear sprocket & 2.750 final gearing
I used the '05 Aprilia RSV1000R
Power: 137hp
Exhaust: Sports
Top Speed: 170mph using 2.500 final gearing
Tires: Performance
7'54.046 A Major Handfull! Gearing was way off.

Last but not least...
I have a '00 Suzuki GSX-R750 race bike
Power: 127hp at the rear wheel from a mild Superstock motor
Exhaust: Yoshimura slip-on
Top Speed: ??? No speedometer
I used the '05 GSX-R600 Racing Modified, since there's only a street 750
Power: 136hp
Exhaust: Racing
Top Speed: 174.7mph using Auto Setting 4 seemed fair
Tires: Racing Soft
7'24.219! Tourist Trophy Mode & Pro Mode controller setting

This two-thread thing is confusing. The other one should be locked.

EDIT: or this one...whatever.

I've locked the other one as Raptor13 isn't around to update and errk is.

Nice times on the bikes. What tires do you run in on your actual car? Z Rated tires = n3(Road tires) tires in the game and s2(sport medium) would be autocross tires or drag radials.

i recently bought a new car, Renault Laguna... i matched my 114hp/1429kg with a Honda Accord Coupe '89 (114hp/1342kg) and got the time 10'21.153 on N1's.

Honda Accord Coupe (Renault Laguna) <> 10'21.153

Well, not enough to top the bikes, which I still say are technically cheating...but I got a 7:35.933. Pulled some fuel, opened up the exhaust a bit, which should be good for about 450-455WHP, so I bumped the in-game power to 521. I think the game should allow for some minor camber/caster/toe adjustments for all stock vehicles.

Got a 9'59.236 for my Honda CR-V (my mom's car) on N1s.
Used a Pontiac vibe GT, detuned with -11% power (to 160hp, same as the CRV) and upped the weight +10% (1400kg, slightly lighter).

In my dad's Lexus LS460 I got a 8'25.199 on N2s.
Used a Lexus GS300 with +20% power to 341hp (RL 380) and +10% weight to 1848kg (RL 1925)
