Another thread for my same opinion:

  • Don’t care for online no matter the general opinion/consensus
  • Miss the car catalog
  • Miss the track catalog
  • Miss time/weather changes while driving
  • Miss the Course Creator
  • Scapes is nice, barely use it
  • Livery editor is nice, barely use it
  • Don’t buy much, nothing excites me in mileage exchange
  • Graphics are amazing
  • Group 3&4 cars fun to drive, everything else is meh/ok
  • Sounds are ok, transmission whine makes me nauseous after a while
  • Manual H-pattern shifting needs work
  • Campaign is extremely short though I haven’t completed half yet
  • Arcade has more options finally
  • Haven’t touched it for two weeks, probably will my least played GT game in 15 years
  • Other games are more fun right now

I like what they built. Having a ton of fun racing online. I expect that this is a platform, like Iracing, that can be built an expanded upon for many years, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I must say, I always find it amusing when someone says the core of a series that sold 75 million copies needed to die as opposed to improved, or, even better IMO, improved and complimented with a rigorous online racing program and a wide range of other features.

But they didn't want to! What is so hard to understand about this? Kaz led the team in a different direction, because he wanted to. What they could or should have done is now fading into the past. GTS is what they made. It's here. They didn't want to build another GT car collector game. They wanted to build a console-based Iracing style game, for better or worse.

The band is now playing a different tune, and it's not music to some ears. You can stand in the crowd, shout out the old songs, and throw tomatoes, but Kaz and PD are gonna keep playing, 'cause they don't wanna sing those same old songs anymore. It's OK, there are some pretty good cover bands out there, and some sound better than the original, with a bigger band, longer shows, and fun for the kids! Young fingers bring new vigor to the instruments, it's all good.

What's really amusing are the people who have loudly and voluntarily walked outside the venue in protest, yet continue to hang around by the entrance, saying it's not even worth going in, shouting the same talking points over and over, working oh-so-hard to convince people that the new direction is terrible, so don't even bother, don't listen, don't waste your money. You have to wonder what the motivation is.

How long are they gonna stand out there? Six months, a year? The band can't hear you, they are inside the building, working on the new sound. How can you be so sure it's bad by if you only listen through a brick wall?

Ah the old I don't want to hear your opinion past point X so I will just refer to you as kids and try and shut it down.

You seem to forget that it was Kaz himself who said that Sport was only 15% of the title and that GTS would not only have all of the features of past titles, but in fact would have the most features of any GT title.

“It’s not about what you want, it’s the consumer”.

Frankly, what Kaz does and doesn’t want is none of my concern. His job is to make a product that appeals to me, he is not doing that at present.

You must not pay attention to concerts much because when all those classic rock bands try touring on the strength of their new music they can’t sell tickets worth a damn. Yet they sell out instantly when they do classic sets.

Funny how that works.

There is a lot to complain about tbh. The cons list would, on paper at least, probably be longer than the pros, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
One pro in particular, for me at least, outweighs all the cons. Sport Mode (which for some is a con lol) It is brilliant.
If GTsport had Assetto Corsa's physics and audio and a lot more circuits it would be getting close to perfection imho.

Kind of like when U2 went from Joshua Tree to Achtung Baby.

Some people just wanna hear the same old songs over and over and over again. Others are willing to stretch themselves to give the new songs a chance without shouting for "Freebird" all the time.

.

I guess you are right, some people can stand and beat their heads against the wall damn near interminably, others move on to whatever it is that they do like to play. I didn't see him call them kids though, just questioned their decision making process.

How many of those in the second category only want to hear the new stuff though?

For instance, I like Metallica’s new album, but I would be rather disappointed if they skipped Master of Puppets during a concert.

It’s the same thing with GT, I like that they are working on making online as good as it can be, but they should still make sure to include what made the game great in the first place.

My opinion is that lack of classic GT stuff is a mistake and sport mode would be populated anyway.

Actually it could be even more populated as those who finished with campaign would jump into multiplayer but without campaign some of those people straight skipped the game.

MP races are so exciting and nerve wrecking - having some casual time with campaign would be nice.

Scapes are fun, don't bother with livery editor as it takes too much time and effort. :P

Lacks of iconic cars and tracks becomes apparent as you spend more time with the game.

Really like the custom races but the lack of ability to choose your opponents cars singularly brings it down. Each category of opponents putts the same car in 1st place every time.

Missed opportunity to make some cool VS races.

Absolutely, but if Metallica announced that they were doing a new tour and only songs from the last 3 albums would be featured. Would you go to the show expecting to hear "And Justice for All" ? And then spend all your time complaining that they didn't play it?

As to what you are really asking, I have said many times I wish PD had kept everybody happy. i wish those that want the old car collector single player portion had gotten their wish, but it didn't happen.

The closest analogy I can come to this is Shadow of War. I thought WB and their business practices should have been denounced wholeheartedly and posted as such on many boards prior to release. However, once the game was released and it was clear they were not gonna change. I simply made the decision to not buy the game and went on to play something i liked. I haven't made a single negative post about the game since.

If people want to expend so much energy complaining in each thread, then that is most definitely their prerogative, I just don't understand the mindset is all.

Well it replaced Forza Motorsport as my go to online racer so a month later I still love it. It needs more content for sure, but this is a solid base to work from and I'm looking forward to what PD will be bringing in the future.

Never really played single player in FM because I find racing AIs to be pretty boring for the most part, so the lack of career mode in GTS is a non-issue to me.

I need to ask, are Foze online races really as AIDS as I've seen on YouTube?

Yes they are an absolute 🤬-show and they seemed to get worse with every new iteration of the game. Getting rid of the searchable custom lobbies in favor of the matchmaking hoppers in particular made the whole racing side of it much worse. Even the 'leagues' which separated players by skill rating were a joke for the most part in FM6.

The Modern GT/Forza GT lobbies in FM5/6 were alright because a lot of good racers played in those, but they still had their fair share of bad racers. The class based hoppers were the absolute worst.

Did quite a few organized league races with TORA and they were always a good time though.

It has been a great game, for what it's worth. I have obtained all gold in the campaign mode and I'm on my way to driver level 30. I am now just doing the FIA races, skipped the dailies altogether. They should put in Gr. 1 races in the dailies as well, I don't think there's ever been a Gr.1 race since I got the game. I still haven't explored much of the Brand Central's Museum, looking forward to that (yes, I'm a fact junkie :D).

Besides that, I feel like I have completed the game and moving on to another. Looking forward for the additional content PD has in store for us!

PD didn’t really make it clear though and even said they didn’t remove any features. Granted “feature” is a rather open word so it’s up to interpretation. But considering they always made it a point in the past to point out the large car list I would say it was a feature.

I need to ask, are Foze online races really as AIDS as I've seen on YouTube?

For the most part, yes. Although once you venture outside of the super car and GT lobbies you at least have a chance to find a clean race.

I get it and prior to the full beta, I would agree. It seemed pretty clear to me in the beta however exactly what I was getting for my money and I was fine with that.

I see. From some of the the online gameplay that I've seen of FM7, it seems like a lot of people don't know how drive. I've seen mates go full speed into a corner without breaking at all. As bad as I am in GT, I at least know how to brake when approaching a turn. Sometime I think they aren't trying.

I wouldn't have to complain because they would play one or two older songs no matter what. See people like Metallica don't all of sudden one day forget how they became successful or stop caring and would still play the classic songs that made them big. Metallica will always stay loyal to their fans and their fans stay loyal to them.

You don't abandon your long time fans that made you successful to try and please a small number of new fans. Something PD is going to learn the hard way.

Cannot really comment on FM7 because I didn't buy it for various reasons, but I imagine it's not much different than previous games.

If people think they have it bad in Sport Mode then should really try a FM multiplayer hopper. For example, I cannot count how many times I was racing in a B class hopper or something only to see one or two players in Vans, Limos, SUVs, or pick-up trucks trying to crash everyone in the lobby, good luck trying to kick those players out of the lobby too since it rarely worked. You were better off looking for a different lobby, which will more than likely have more greifers and bad racers btw.

Class based hoppers are gone in FM7 now though, but I imagine there are still just as many players who just love to crash everybody with the biggest/heaviest vehicle they can get.

Maybe. Only time will tell. I actually went back to the GT6 threads immediately before and after release and they were full of complaints as well, yet the game still thrived.

The level of activity on a site dedicated to racing games is about the worse place to look for a taste of the overall health of a title in the wider gaming community.

I wasn't really looking at the level of activity so much as the general satisfaction level of members of the site. I found that there were a bunch people unsatisfied then as now.

Do you have a link to that? Is it on the site somewhere? I have tried to find that quote myself and cannot.

Edit: Nvm. Found a video.

Incredibly frustrated with the penalty system.
It doesn't punish drivers for diving down the inside of a corner if they don't push you off the track.
It punishes drivers for seemingly ridiculous things.

That about sums up my experience with GTS so far.

Yes, people just throw their car down the inside and use you as a brake and nothing happens except another place lost. Then on the track limits, some places you get small penalties for minor infringements, yet other times people go way off track and get nothing and come flying back on forcing you to avoid them too.

The S safety rating is far too easy to get and even more so to keep.

Great post, but while we’re on the subject of comparing PD’s new direction with music, I would say PD has taken a Beatles “Sergeant Pepper” approach. The Beatles said they were so tired of touring with the same songs by 1966 they almost called it quits for good.

Still, I suppose people still liked their classic stuff enough to hear them play even if the Beatles admitted their live performances weren’t that good and could barely be heard over fans screaming.

Pros. It's pretty and has good graphics.
Game play is excellent fun.

Cons For Me.
It is to hard
No Slider Scale is a huge let down.

Reason I stopped playing it.
I couldn't get any further, golded campaign mode up to the last one couldn't do that.
Tried the mission challenges did a couple but couldn't do a lot of them on stage two didn't go any further.
Online racing all the cars were faster than me I always finished last sometimes lapped
Couldn't see a way to tune the car.
Haven't traded it in yet but thinking about it.

If you enjoy the time trial aspect, may I suggest you enter the daily races 30-15 minutes before they begin, and try to set the fastest qualifying time? You can even compare your best time trial time against friends you have in GTS.

Also, you could enter the Championship races, run the qualifying and try to set the fastest time in the session. Then you can just back out after qualifying and cede your grid slot.

Not idea for how you like to play, just offering some possibilities :)

Bought a PS4 and replaced my G27 with a new G29. Don't feel it was worth it at this point in time, would rather be doing time trials in GT6, which I can of course, but for crying out loud, this game plus the PS4 and G29 cost a fair few bucks and I wanted it to be similar but better.

Every time I enter a race I swear I will not retaliate when pushed off the track or spun off by others. Unfortunately I cant say I have managed to do that every time.

===================================

I agree GT Sport needs an option for people who want to race against some AI in a championship setting. There is a harsh reality that smacks you in the face when you start racing online that says "Oh, I am not special after all."

I know I am not very good anymore hence I wanted a sliding scale I just struggle online as soon as I start off within half a lap the rest have disappeared like there in Porsches and I am in a Micra. Every race every car I am just far to slow for it. If I manage to keep up for a bit in the odd race I always get pushed of the track and end up last.

Just out of curiosity do you run practice laps before racing online? It usually takes me 5-10 laps to be able to run a track at race pace without mistakes, and maybe 15-20 laps to be able to confidently fight for position and set consistent lap times.

It takes > 10 laps on a track to begin to identify which sectors / corners are your weakest and where you could benefit from the biggest improvement.
