A Quantum Leap

I'm fine with DLC, just hope they have a season pass priced between £20-£30, or i won't bother with the DLC.

I think it really depends on how they implement the track DLC with GT6. If it is the same as GT5 and the DLC is added to the game via an update and 'unlocked' by purchasing the DLC then the tracks could be available in online lounges/lobbies as everyone will at least have the content on their systems. If the DLC is added by downloading it after purchasing then having the tracks available for online doesn't work so easily.
If PD don't restrict the tracks for online racing and better still have them integrated into A-Spec mode by adding new events with the DLC that will go some way to making the DLC extend the life of the game. Restricting DLC tracks online doesn't make any sense to me as it is - sure people who haven't bought the DLC can use it online (for free) and not bother buying it - but it should be seen as advertising for the DLC, for if the content is good enough and integrated into A-Spec then people after trying it online may be more inclined to purchase it for offline use.
It would also be nice if car DLC added events to A-Spec mode too.

Wishful thinking.... probably, but here's hoping. ;)

Except he was quite clearly talking specifically about DLC.

Regarding the DLC, it’s obviously going to be a big feature of GT6. How do you see it progressing and growing in the future beyond what it already is in GT5?

“I think that we very much cut our teeth on DLC with GT5, and I think there’s a real desire to make a quantum leap with GT6.

So no.

My time racing on Spa says otherwise.
So you would have stopped playing the game without it? If not, it's not extending the life of the game.
It did increase my enjoyment level considerably. I raced it with hundreds of cars for months, practically the only track I went to during that span of time. Rather like the tracks I made in the Course Maker, which are some of my favorite tracks in GT5 to this day. So make of that what you will. ;)

If you don't want the content, don't buy it. If you do, bite the bullet & pay the couple of bucks.....simple

If you have a problem with DLC in GT, I hope you realize that it would be a general GAMING problem rather than an exclusive PD problem.... I like DLC, though.

If they hadn't spent all the time on GT5 DLC then we would more than likely be playing GT6 now and have even more stuff and enjoyment!

I see no reason to believe that the release of a small handful of DLC (that they would have already been making anyway for GT6, remember) contributed in any meaningful way towards GT6's release date.

But with GT6 "quantum leap" in ripping us... I mean, in DLC, the wait for GT7 will be put off.
They don't need to release a full game to make profit when they can make much more money from DLC and the longer they can milk that the longer we'll be waiting.

I'm amazed that you know all of these things for definite already :) just chill and see what happens because we'll only know for sure once the game is out.

As for GT7 - the majority of the assets will be transfered from GT6 so work done now will save work needing to be done later.

Which could maybe be argued if GT6 wasn't one of the last big games of a platform with the writing on the wall. A PS4 GT game will be in the wings as soon as possible because it has to be to help push sales of the system, and GT6 does nothing for that.

True. No way Sony is going to wait 4-5 years for GT7/PS4. I wouldn't be surprised to see GT7 in Christmas 2015 in fact. I think the pressure will be on to move the development schedule up to a regular 2-3 year interval.

With the evidence so far i would say i am the closest to the truth.

Every week/month spent on DLC is time not spent on GT7 whether that certain car or track will be in GT7 or not.
Then there'll be a rush to get GT7 out and yet again we will end up with a disjointed unfinished game.

This is what i think.

Everything DLC will most likely be in GT7 so it's essentially working on the same thing. With the new physics engine already in place and hundreds of premium cars all ready to go for GT7, PD can hopefully concentrate more resources on some of the finer details like the sound engine, AI, Career Mode etc.

A quantum leap of DLC means a quantum leap in content and a step forward on the direction the whole industry is going to for years, especially on this genre.

If you don't want or can't pay for it then there's nothing to be done really. The GT series always had games that were a steal to begin with, by far the cheapest of this whole genre, so right now people that complain about pricing have nowhere to go really, if they still want massive amounts of content and tons of replayability.

Though we know the complainers will never, ever leave GTP and will always buy the newest GT game and most probably its DLC.

What could this mean?

A quantum leap in -

Marketing.

To get people to pay over $100 for a game they had to have a quantum leap in marketing.

My interest in GT6 has declined with almost every release of new information.

Damn, this is bad. But I might get special edition or something for 100$ which should have all DLC codes to download down the line. Not a big fan of DLC but they intentionally have some good stuff there so people pay extra which should have been on the game already :(

Sony is learning all this BS from Microsoft :grumpy:

Yeah, because no one else does DLC except Microsoft:dunce:

In terms of dollars per car or dollars per track, sure. Otherwise, maybe not so much.

Single player content in GT5 is seriously lacking compared to similar games, as has been admitted by Kaz.
Online is no better and in some ways worse (matchmaking? leaderboards?) than similar games.
There's limited to no incentive to ever replay a single player race outside of grinding XP (which is a daft system that should never have existed) instead of just going to Arcade Mode and racing against better AI. And Arcade Mode is just a simple sandbox mode that every game of this type has. GT4 at least had A-spec points, but it's the only game that did.

There's plenty of games out there that offer less in terms of content (cars, tracks, etc) but offer far more gameplay than GT5 does. Which is more valuable is up to each individual consumer to decide.

My thoughts exactly.....If you're feeling sour about PD using DLC, then you might as well give up modern gaming.

Furthermore, people act as if New ps3 releases don't come at a flat rate for the most part. To feel sour about a 60$ charge is kind of a dead horse as well..60$ and DLC is not "something PD thought up one day to screw us over". *looks at wall of games, there's not many games here that DON'T fall in that category.

I wonder if we could use the DLC on more then 1 account? Like the family pack thingy :I in GT5.

In GT5 it works on every account on your console. I would hope they are smart enough to do the same from the beginning in GT6:dunce:

...With the evidence so far i would say i am the closest to the truth...
Evidence gleaned from other developers/publishers - or are you talking about GT5's experiment with DLC? A quantum leap was promised in this respect, so we shall see if Sony go all 'evil corporation' on us or the game become bigger and better as a result...

I'm just not going to go the assumption route in the meantime.

We don't even know what the quantum leap on the DLC would be. Really, you don't need to buy the DLC, and if you feel used then don't buy the game at all. Really. ( i had to add another really just for effect. ) and one more ... really!
