A-Spec 415PP Honda Civic Competition

Question on turn 1 on Route 5. No braking. How fast?
This seems the way a lot of people are getting a good start.
Also turns 5 & 6 are rough. I think I can manage the other.
I've tried most tunings posted here and several Civic models ('97, '01,'04, '08).
Still the same in the end, 4th. No problem getting 4th.
Practice, practice I know, but lossing interest on Civic seasonal.

I won all the races easily with the CIVIC TYPE R (EK) RM '97

CSR5 is the hardest without doubt but it is possible. I did it in the 01 Type R without using the phone trick. My advice would be take your best car and keep trying. Changing cars and tunes just wastes valuable practice time. If you're fed up with it and just want to get gold, just go flat out into the turn 1 and bounce off the wall. The phone call is not necessary.

Oh man, I sure didn't intend on spending this much time driving a Civic! Finally won CSR5 with a bone stock 97 RM on CS's. Cockpit view ABS 0 BB3/1. Took me many, many tries to do it cleanly especially turn 1. I scraped an AI but kept going to get gold. Then spent another 20 minutes or so trying for a completely clean lap and quit. That's a tough track for me. Don't think I ever hit turn 1 consistently.

Used the same car for gold at Autumn Ring. Fun little car, tuning would help for sure but I like the no tuning challenge. TM and Tsukuba were easy with it, haven't tried the custom track yet.

Isn't that the truth, with both the inner and outer walls painted white I simply can't see the corner on approach unless there is an ai car going in just ahead of me and even then it is hard to set speed, entry and apex correctly. Would it be so hard for PD to repaint one of the walls a bright red or something?

Have you got the driving line on? I find it helps in the dark. At least you know where a line is even if you don't follow it exactly. In the video kindly posted by Oink83 he recommends braking early and straight and turning in just before you hit the barrier but I found it just as quick and less hair-raising to brake late and trail brake almost up to the apex.

Just out of curiosity, what is the phone trick ? I tried searching for it, but can't find it.

Finally got 2nd with braking late on the first corner but I'll try slamming the wall next time. I was getting 1:05s, never a 1:04 without hitting the wall. Maybe I'll get better by slamming it. Who knew? The best part of this particular waste of time is that it only take about 5 minutes total. I judge how I'm doing by seeing where I pass the old orange Civic. :)

What can I say?
Didn't brake 1st turn. Hit the wall every lap, and won gold the first time with this. Doesn't make sense but it worked. Past the last car entering the last turn.
Thank you!

The phone trick got me 1:04s and gold. Passed the leader just after I slammed the wall on the last lap. You have to hit the wall clean on the side so drift a bit by tapping the brakes. If you hit it with the nose, you'll slow down and the steering goes funny. A side-slam like a rally car works perfectly. Now, if there was only a phone trick for the Ring and the Lambos!

If anyone is having problems with the Special Stage Route, add me and borrow my car. I was going to put the specs up here but borrowing is easier. Same name, waddy2001 on PS. Slam the wall and you get gold.

It got me a couple 1:03s and 1:04s.
I kept trying to keep from hitting the wall and thought it couldn't be right. Well after spending 5 days trying to get past 2nd I was ready to give up, I'm happy to complete the Civic A Spec races.
And yes if someone has Lamborghini trick for the Nurb.
On to life till the next seasonal challenge.

I am using civic type r '08. I have carefully read every post about set up, and did it like it was written. Than tried with some modifications of mine. With all that I've come up to 3rd with one+ sec behind leading duo.
Please help!!!! I am desperate!

I used the civic type r '08; just put all the default settings back in and you will win...

I tried to tune the car and it just wasn't worth the effort...my tune made it worse and it was going to take a lot of effort to improve upon the default setting...and by that i mean the default suspension, don't buy the suspension upgrades

I'll try your suggestions. On the other hand I am satisfied with the set up in terms of how the car is handling. I can really go flat out in and out of corners, but still I can not beat them :ouch:
Do I put all possible upgrades to upper HP, and than with additional weight and power limiter get it to 415PP, or....?

People getting a sense of achievement from using a cheap shot to win a seasonal ? That is so sad. How are you ever going to learn if you take short cuts ?

I did the glass upgrade for lower center of gravity and then applied the power mods, but i did not use the engine upgrade from the tuning garage.
I like to put the engine mods so that the car is 2-5pp over the pp limit and the adjust the power on the engine limiter back to the pp limit, Doing this gets peak power 500-1000rpm earlier.

@StevenDunn99: if you look at mygranturismo.net you can filter timetrial results and you will find that literally 99.9% of people use some amount of driving aids. For the other 0.01% this is something we have to accept - most people will take the easy option.

That is why I "gold and go home", no reason to try and set fast times with this type of behavior going on.

I was in the same boat but I did manage to get 2nd until I tried the phone trick. I suppose I could have kept at it and gnawed off a second here and there but I gave up, did the trick and won.
If you want to borrow my car, that's fine, or I'll post my tuning specs here. The '08 is pretty good on its own and the AI does seem to know if you've messed with the specs and sets its speeds accordingly but, for me anyway, it was more fun to develop a better handling car while learning about ballast position/camber/toe etc. Let me know.

I did a few bolt-on HP increasing mods and then added ballast at the front to get back to 415PP. No power limiter, stock suspension. Worked for me.

'this type of behavior' won't fly in a time trial, of course. The TTs are the true test and are probably more fun than the regular races, at least for some players.
Head to head is always better than head to AI. The best part of TTs is that no tricks are allowed, not even getting air on the Cape Ring.

Well done!

Excuse me, but getting air over that jump is in no way a "trick." It does not gain you any advantage by going all out over that jump. You should not be penalized for landing the wrong way on that jump. That is just another flaw in PD's penalty system. The red times (penalties) are for corner cutting, wallbanging, or other things that gain you an unfair advantage. Going over that jump does not gain you any type of advantage.

Cargo rat, you will be surprised to hear this, but I completely agree with you. There is no reason why we should have to get red lapped just because our cars take off over that jump.

Thank you for you encouraging post. I'll be more than thankfull if you post your set up.
