A-Spec 415PP Honda Civic Competition

Special Route 5: my phone rang a second before turn 1... Passed the turn without braking, laptime 1.02.976....okey....

OK I get it now. If only I'd realised it would have saved me hours of grief. That's the sort of thing my son does to beat me on 2 player arcade races.

Yes, really just confirming what you said. Maybe it depends on your driving style but it certainly worked for me. I might try piling the weight on the front and upping the HP to see if it's even faster.

I wouldn't overdo it, you can destroy the characteristics of the car if you go overboard, sounds like you have found a nice compromise.

I had the dampers a bit stiffer at the rear, also the ride height was a bit higher. This might not make any difference, or might make it worse, like I said I'm a noob at tuning, but I know that a FF car needs weight at the front.

Spot on again. With 200kg up front and more HP it was a couple of seconds slower. Looks like I stumbled upon a good set-up. I've been using the stock suspension. Unless someone posts a good tune I tend to leave things alone as my fiddling usually makes things worse.

Yes yes yes.. Finally the route 5 is done 5:27.886 total time, managed to keep a consultant lap time of 1:05 (first lap 1:07)..car used Civic Type R '08
The set up I used is pretty basic, but I think that's what's needed in this event.
Ballast: 136 (position -50) =1406kg
Power limiter 100% =239bhp (sports ECU fitted)
LSD:10, 20, 20
Ride Hight 15 15
SR. 6.0 3.7
Damp. Ex. 4 6
Damp comp 4 6
ARB 4 5

Camber 2.0. 0.0
Toe 0.00 0.20

Brake Balance 5 7

The only reason i can think that pp are increased with putting the weight towards the front is this, as you accelerate weight is transferred to the rear of the car. In a FR this is good it gives the rear tires more grip and allows greater acceleration. On a FF the weight transfer to the rear does just the opposite. Notice adding chassis reinforcement or a better suspension do not add to pp yet they do improve the performance of the car. I still stand by my 80kg added to the rear on a stock 08 civic bought from the dealership. There is a reason a 50/50 weight dist. is preferred it tend to give a more neutral handling. I had very little problems with understeer and if i pushed too hard was drifting a few corners

Fantastic..just finished Eifel. This time used a '97 Type R. Same set up as the '08 I used on Route 5. Was having trouble getting higher than 3rd & then all I did was change the wheels (something cargo rat spoke about recently, how it changed the gearing) it may have been pure coincidence, but the very next time out I win by 2secs. I'll leave it for you to figure out. Have fun.

EDIT....I should have mentioned that I also dropped the top speed down to 124mph, no other changes to box.

Ha ha, OK tried the 'phone trick' and won by 2.4 secs, with traffic.
Anyway now I know what a Gathers Drider CIVIC race Car '98 looks like.

Well I didnt realize weight over fronts in FF cars made it turn better. I never even touched ballast for this event. Soft Springs Dampers Front and Rear and -70/-65 toe .06 FR/ .04 camber, and I won all 5. No Aids including ABS.

Transmission settings made the difference for me.

I don't know if that's a little bit of sarcasm I detect, but I found that it works, maybe it my driving style, I don't know! Lol.

I was quicker with that setup though.

Finally got it, and like most things it took practice and putting all my best sectors together in one run. I found that smoothness of run was the key and just letting the car take itself through all the turns made a massive difference.

Ballast: 153kg at positon 27
Power: 100% with ECU and sports intake man. fitted (car is now fully broken in)

Tran.
1st: 2.848
2nd: 2.000
3rd: 1.497
4th: 1.172
5th: 0.960
6th: 0.823
Final: 5.079
Top: 240 kph

LSD: 10/45/30

Susp.: -17/-16
6.0/6.6

2.4/0.0
-0.16/-0.10

Brakes: 6/5

Those who take the time to work out settings will always have my thanks, I haven't got the head to do it myself.

Scary thing is, I've got another 6 lots of this event to do.

Nope, no sarcasm, really didn't know or consider weight over fronts. Went with a Drift mentality for my tune.

Ok, lol. One cannot tell in text.

Why would you use a drift tune? Genuine question BTW.

I got this after a couple tries. Grabbed a civic type r from the NCD, slapped a quick tune on it (lowered ride height, stiffened springs, added camber, lowered lsd). Only had to turn on SRF for autumn ring. Other than that it was fine

Do I still hate FF cars?

Let's run this seasonal and find out...

Yep, still hate FF cars.

I completely agree with you here...can't stand driving these bricks

wow.. I have played the game from day 1 and i have 530 cars in my garage (I dont buy every car) - still I have never seen this car in gt5  Dont know if its any good, but seeing an before unseen car in gt5 is refreshing for an old chap like me..:sly:👍

I already had it, gifted it to another friend who has no clue how to drive!!!!! She holds down the accelerator and hopes for the best!!!!!

That trial mountain is hilarious. just won it with 5 sec gap to 2nd - using a 360pp type-r '04. ;)

Recon i could do it with 350pp

Ok.. Getting ridiculous. 349pp and still 2.5 sec lead. Good 1.1M cr. and 120k exp.

Sitting on level 39 (A spec) and will be happy when I finally reach 40, so do a few races just to reach that goal every now and then. Did Trial Mountain again last night and came in 20 sec's in front, so I expect there is plenty of room for lowering the PP on my Type R '08. Had actually forgotten about lowering the PP as a few of these races were difficult at full PP.
350 PP aye? Lets try it.

What!? Some FF cars actually come with pretty decent speed and handling in the first place, let alone when you know how to tune them. I've had plenty of races online beating S2000s, Imprezas, Skylines etc with a lightly tuned Levin BZ-R 98, that thing is very nimble and much faster on the straights too.

I'll share some videos and the set up on my Civic type-r 08 this week. Sounds, handles and has particular suspension bounce like a touring car. Pulls a consistent 1.2g through corners even on the comfort softs we're restricted to, with all aids off and no ABS.

Should I stop trying to beat it with the 79 Civic? I'm really struggling to catch the 3 rabbits with this piece of trash, even fully tuned (at least to where the 415 limit will let me).

I have 1039 different cars already and this Civic was one of only two Hondas missing for me. Great to see it as a seasonal prize!

OK, @ 350 PP the win is $1,118,775, exp 122,325. Won by .777sec.

349 PP? Haitauer did.

347 PP (56.3%), $1,140,085-- exp 124655. The car is @ 134hp, 1470kg (200kg ballast) @ -16.
I am using a Titanium Racing Exhaust, nothing else.

Couldn't win at 346 PP so dropped it as far as I could go, 328 PP (50%) @ 111hp and came in 4th, Exp 44386. That's it.

Tried it shortly with 339pp - came just shy 3sec from the lead with what cant be described as "perfect run" - so win at around 340pp is plausible. maybe.

But i think achieving crushing victory with some good laptimes at the infamous route race makes more sense. Somehow reminds me of the good old la sarthe -seasonal - where just golding the seasonal was hard. Good old times. Wish they would have made that seasonal permanent..

Question on turn 1 on Route 5. No braking. How fast?
This seems the way a lot of people are getting a good start.
Also turns 5 & 6 are rough. I think I can manage the other.
I've tried most tunings posted here and several Civic models ('97, '01,'04, '08).
Still the same in the end, 4th. No problem getting 4th.
Practice, practice I know, but lossing interest on Civic seasonal.
