I've been running on ds3 with abs only, the m3 gtr and the ft-86 concept are very fast here. I think the Toyota will run 1:16 laps or faster, I only ran it once and it ran low 1:17 laps. I have a lot of cars to get through before this seasonal expires

Smashed it with the Ford F150 Lightning. That was amusing. Never could beat it with the Midget though, I was sad.

I actually prefer being able to get the gold with slower cars that way I'm not constantly using the same old cars over and over again and being frustrated I can't use anything else. Time Trials are fine for that, I like to have fun with the random stuff once in a while. If they were all tough to do like some people want, I'd never get some of the paint chips that I like.

@dahcmai - don't give up, bud. Try again on another day.

There's really no feeling like sweeping those guys away in a Midget and reaching the line before they can catch up to bite your butt. It took me almost ten tries but I finally wiped that 'sadness' away.
As for hotlapping only - well, there's only so much one can do to improve one's time - after that it is best to enjoy putting those skills to the test. I'm always looking for random stuff to do - as long as it entails driving.

Well, that's the 'Oddball Trifecta' done then. Now I can go for Sunday drives.

I've been trying this race with most of the cars from the stock thread, but I guess I'm not good enough I guess, even though this is one of the easiest expert races. I ended up using a BMW M3 Coupé '07 with Praiano tune and even then it took me 2 tries to win.

I've noticed 3 patterns:
The first scenario is almost impossible to win. There are 2 rabbits which are a lot faster than the others. I would need to make up about 4 seconds every lap to get a chance to beat them.
The second scenario is also with 2 rabbits, but they drive very slow the first 3 laps to let you catch up, then drive very aggresively in the last lap. They catch up very easily and then ram you off the road. In the last corner of course, so you end up 3rd.
The third scenario you slowly catch up to the rabbit, ready to overtake him in the final corner of the last lap but then he suddenly speeds up and is impossible to catch on the straight, no matter how well you did the final corner.

I've learned that it's better to drive conservatively because it's not worth it to take risks. Especially at the last corner. Do it well and it makes for the best overtake spot, but screw up and you lose 3 seconds. This track can be very unforgiving.

Also had some surprising winners sometimes, like the TVR Tamora and the Alfa Romeo 8C.

This track and event is REALLY tire-centric. I've been grinding it for cash and cars, basically buying a car at a time and winning the event with it, then repeating- I added maybe 50 or 75 cars just from this one event. Most of the cars I was able to get by with little or no PP upgrades, if they were above about 440PP, and never added more than simple Racing Soft suspension (and a transmission, sometimes) to some of the american muscle machines... but the one thing that would sometime make the difference was switching out SH tires for mediums or soft's.

I knew the event was ending soon, so yesterday I took some 450PP cars out on sports hard tires with TCS off...and it is a much, much harder race, but still fun. You lose so much time on the high-speed corners when you drop a compound or two.

Edit: I won't lie, I DID find that the glaring "shortcut" doesn't DQ you in this seasonal...and used it a few times with really slow setups. so you always have that option, if you really do need it.
