Three cars, three winners so far. TS020 '99, 787B stealth and the LM55 vgt.

LM55 was the fastest by 7:23. Still a close race, won over C60 hybrid by only 0,2 seconds.

I want to ask for your LM55 tune, but I'm not going to do it, it'll just frustrate me because I'll never get close to your time lol. You could probably win this race with the old FTO LM car :D.

Chapperal 2X - VGT car.

It is like a car out of Star Wars. Makes the same sound of a space ship and has a warp drive stuck to the back of it.

Great, thanks. I'll look for your tune. I pretty much don't drive any car anymore without your tune on it. I always start there. I may tweak it just slightly to make it easier for my bad habits, but it always starts with your tune!

Good luck to those of you who can race this event. I tried this race with one arm... And I just am not good enough (yet) to win. Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that it has only been 8 days since my elbow surgery? Don't tell my doctor I took my cast off to race! Hopefully I will be able to compete with some of you guys in a few weeks...

Take care of yourself. What does not kill you, makes you stronger. :)

And if you usually drive on manual, try auto until you recover :sly: ! The sooner the better.

Yesssssssssssss... finally something over 600p!! Been dying for something like it. There's so many great cars that go unused because of the usual 450-600pp range we keep getting.

Let's see what I can run with through this...

This seasonal is like eating a Big Mac - I'm lovin' it. :D

I was hoping the 787B would cut it as I love the car, but I couldn't do better than a high 1:29. I think the bog with only 5 gears available really hurt it.

So I switched to something with more gears - namely the Mazda LM55 - and have made it within 3s of the leader. I think running consistent 1:26 laps and lower are key to nabbing the win. My best has been a low 1:26 and about 7:34 overall. Clean laps remain tough to do, however.

I'll also note the aggressiveness of the AI. They'll be right on your tail and ram you into the walls if they can. Best you can do to slow the field is to the same to them! They'll cluster up and make their own wall.

That's driving me nuts. As I came up on 2nd place at turn 1 it appeared that he didnt brake at all, hit the wall and almost flipped . Good for me, I think. Well we know what happens...2 turns later he rams me in the back, knocks me across the track, and scoots off into the distance with magic boost speed. Geex, a video game is supposed to be fun.

Ugh. My luck, I just purchased this prize car Tuesday only to find it's got a sequential transmission that doesn't work with my G27. Oh well, looks like I may be selling one of them. :indiff:

I find the R89/92CP cars are particularly vicious at this. You touch them and they'll be right on your back right up to 3rd place or more if you let them. They just go nuts.

--------

Made it earlier with the LM55. Best lap a high 1:25 and overall 7:31. Beat the leading car by +4s. I got decimated on the long straight even with drafting, but the 'bots couldn't keep up in the curves and I finally managed a couple clean laps.

Wanted to try the prize car as well, but I daresay the "low" downforce and max 651pp are too weak to give you a win. You really need a 700pp (or equivalent given the TS030 can win) car to grab gold.

Now, what else to try... ?

I have the same problem with the Chapperal 2X as I do with my Puegot 908..its invisible to the AI ..they cant seem to see me and often run me over or plant me into the wall:crazy::lol:

I'm going to assume those running the 2X have engine degradation, yes? I can't get it below 750pp normally...

EDIT: Nevermind... forgot to add weight. I'm a numbskull.

I had to go back through this thread because I thought I saw someone had posted that the 2x could go 1:20! They said 7:20 (total time), which is far more realistic. If anybody can get a 2x to go 1:20 laps on this race, they better edit in The Little Mermaid "Part of Your World" video because that's what everybody else would be singing.

This race is a lot easier with the 2X. Slightly slower through the corners than the DeltaWing, but a lot faster on the straights (400+ km/h with slipstream, about 360 without)
7:25 is my best time so far, I gave the car a weight balance of 46:54, to help it go around corners a little better. I tried an even more extreme weight balance at first, but it made the car wobble at high speed.

For the 2X:
Try it at 452 HP and 593 KG at 50:50. Controllable but a bit sluggish.

I used the C60. Consistent 1:25 laps secured a 3s win over the lead Toyota Minolta. I first tried the Ts020 (stock power), but couldn't get under 1:27.

Well I finally did it in the 2X. A string of low 1:25's was barely enough for a .076 win over the Minolta. I am so glad the pain is over.

The Minolta with a Priano tune is the car for me, it rotates much better than the Judd, and way better than the 2X.

I can't drive that car for isht in this race, 1:26 was my best lap.

Of course, 1:25 was my best with the Judd, and with the Minolta.

My best is 1:23. The laser is not only pushing the car forwards but it's also pushing it down, so you need to accelerate through the corners to get the most grip out of the car. Brake a little more before the corner than you would in a normal car, so you get more space to accelerate through it. You can't go full throttle through every corner though, but try to always keep a little "gas" (well, laser).

........overshoot their braking zones (bad luck for you if you're in front of them), they stop in the middle of the track ................politely waiting..............right in the middle of the track, holding up the traffic).
.......................The 2nd place car makes a pit maneuver
...

Are you playing the game or the game playing you? :dopey:

.....................You can't go full throttle through every corner though, but try to always keep a little "gas" (well, laser).

Good advice. 👍 I learned that through trial and error. The ship goes dead as soon as you take your foot off the throttle.

I tried the 2x, but failed. Best I could get was 9th with the ds3, I'll try again with my wheel later.

Jayzus...this one's gonna be fun!
I just took my first shot at it in the TSO30 and got my arse handed to me on a silver platter.
I'll be watching this forum closely from now on.
I agree.
