after several tries ending with me face planted into the wall I finally got a win with my Peugeot 908 HDI FAP. Right before the beginning of the last lap I caught the 3rd place Toyota 7 and bump drafted him down the straight helping me catch 1st and 2nd ..which he rage boosted right into and crashed all 3 of them lol

what about the slower LMPs in the game? (Audi R10, Audi R18, Nissan R390, AMG Mercedes CLK GTR etc) are they any good against the stronger LMPs?

I managed to do some adjusting to my Mazda LM55 VGT and it's doing a lot better than before. I went from barely touching the AI to being able to get 4th place. I still have a bit to go though.

I've tried 2x and finished 3rd. Anyway it was everything but clean ride :D
Than I used Pescarolo. Again couple of times 3rd finish. This is definitely the choice of weapon for this seasonal!

No problems with the Sauber Mercedes C9 or the Jaguar XJR-9 and so I thought I would give my Bentley Speed 8 a go. No luck, drives like rubbish. Not the way I remembered that car. So I give it some tuning and take off this, add that ... still rubbish.

Finally, I go to Praiano's garage to see what he could make of this car. Wow. It is just ridiculous what he was able to turn this car into. It's now a train on rails.

Second fastest car I've tried at this track. I wouldn't call that rather slow, unless you have a list of cars that are faster here?

Sorry for the late answer. For sure, this car will accomplish great total times, but I "felt" yesterday that the acceleration and top speed are not that good compared to the Pescarolo, for instance. I can't "prove" it right now, no time to play, I have to check that later.

No list so far, have to try more cars. I'll give you some feedback next week if you're still interested. :)

Cheers, have a nice drive!

I wasn't wanting you to "prove" it, I was more wondering about these cars!

Made about 10 million in a couple of hours, with many different cars with this one. The best expert level race in quite a while.

Between last night and this morning I spent quite a while trying to figure out what the very best car is for this race, and in my opinion it's the Mazda LM55 VTG without a doubt. The Toyota Minolta is the fastest, without question, but it's old, and really feels like it. The LM55 is a dream in almost every way, its only negative being that there is too much understeer, at times forcing me to use the hand-brake to get it to turn properly. This is probably something that can be tweaked in tuning, but I'm not a tuner, I leave that to the pro's. The tune I'm using is Praiano's, with ShaunM80's diff settings. Try this car, it's wonderful, and with a little practice will win you the race for sure.

In my opinion those are the only choices. Every other car is either slower, or doesn't handle nearly as well. I really want to best my 7:17 with the LM55 because I like it so much, but I simply can't :(.

For reference, I'm getting 1:25's on the first lap, and 1:23's for the rest of the laps with the Minolta. I'm getting 1:26's on the first lap, and 1:24's for the rest of the laps with the LM55.

EDIT: My friend David said he'd try the Minolta! Now we'll see what it'll really run!!!

the BMW V12LMR works really well here. With Praiano's tune it has alot of grip and takes the twisty corners really well,,,but it can be a bit tail happy. If you over drive it..you will find yourself facing oncoming traffic:eek:. I managed a win @7:28....5 seconds ahead of the Minolta

You're faster than I am. My best time so far is 7:20 with the Pescarolo C60 Judd.

So here is the first bunch of cars I tried. Everyone is tuned by Praiano. 700 PP. ABS1, TC1 :embarrassed: SRF on :embarrassed::embarrassed:

1. Pescarolo C60 Judd 7:20:419 (best lap 1:23:108)
2. Peugeot 905 7:28:816
3. LM 55 7:29:129
4. Bentley 7:29:419
5. Sauber Mercedes 7:29:450

Have to try the Audi R8, BMW V12, Jaguar XJR, Minolta etc... another day. So far, I warmly recommend the Pescarolo 👍

(@shaunm80 published a link for this car on page 1 of this thread).

Edit: the sound of the Mazda is very good :sly:

Agreed. That was my first choice and it was a walk in the park... had a little bit of trouble on the last straight, maybe i needed to work on the transmission, but it destroyed them all everywhere else, which is expected due to it's 4wd and the big downforce+little weight combo.

The C60 Hybride with a proper tune is also an overkill.

To keep the challenge, i'm only using the Group C monsters and going for clean races. Hard contact = restart. This is what happens when a seasonal is really good, you keep pushing it.

That's why i always dreamed of really epic seasonals, instead of the more usual stuff. Big races in the rain or at night, at the 'ring, la sarthe, d'azur... drag races at the route-x... they should make more of these things. Remember the holiday seasonal with the massive tire wear and multiple weather changes? That's the stuff. But i do enjoy all events, really... i just miss those REALLY stressful ones

I'm done at 7:17. I ran 3 in a row before I started taking pix.

Ok, so what I've tried so far:

Cars that can do it:

R92CP
R89CP
Sauber Mercedes
R10 Audi
2X
2J
LM55
Toyota 7
Minolta
787B (& Stealth)
Courage - Judd
Courage - C60
C60 Hybride
V12LMR

Cars that can't:

Red Bull Junior
LM Spec II
R18 Audi
Furai
Vertigo Race Car
FXX
Esperante GTR-1
TS030 (Yes, Cargo Rat completed this event with it, but as my skills are mediocre, I can't finish 1st)

Next up:

Deltawing
Veyron and Huayra, but these might be too heavy...

At 700PP, the Chaparral 2J was the fastest some time ago, but I suspect the Chaparral 2X might be even faster now.

However, the 2J requires alot of fine tuning to the gearbox to avoid bogging down, thanks to the stupid 3 speed gearbox. And even when you get it right, you need to drive it in a very special way to make it work. If you fail at either 2 of these things, it will be very slow, and other cars will be faster.

Disregarding those cars, it is of general belief that the Audi R8 '01 is the fastest car at 700PP.

Thats just my 2 cents about the car choice.;)

Your right the Minolta is the fasters car to use , I am also getting 1:25's on the first lap, and 1:23's for the rest of the laps, but with oversteer at high speed is the problem for me.

In my opinion the 2X might be one of if not the fastest car to use, but it needs a different driving style, which may not appeal to everyone. The trafic really gets in the way but once it's clear, the Chaparral can build some distance quickly. My best lap with the car is 1:22.306 on a rare clean lap with a DS3. I even saved the replay just because of this lap.
