Advice to PD from a GT Fanboy

If you where even like you're pretending to be, than you wouldn't be here giving an opinion and reviewing someone's review.
Why?

Yes, it is still obviously true that different people like different things. That doesn't mean you can't still take something away from a review as long as it's in depth and not just "OMG THIS IS AWESOME, YOU SHOULD TOTALLY PLAY IT". Many reviews I can read or watch and know that the game isn't going to be something I like, even if the review is glowing and gives it 10/10. That's because they manage to tell me what the game is about, what it involves, how it plays generally etc.

You take the factual statements as factual statements (Journey is a game which involves you wandering through an empty desert for the most part) and the opinions (It was a wonderful journey which I enjoyed from start to finished) as opinions.

Again, it's not a tough concept.
Many reviews of that particular game didnt even give that information. They just went like "this is not a game this is an experience and a magic journey and bla bla bla"... and then, they give a ballsy 10/10.

Can I ask a question? Why do people waste their time with some people? It's like bouncing a ball off a wall.It always comes back.

So move on to the next and compile a list of what they've said, and what others have said, in your head and figure out what to do. Like it has been mentioned, sure there are unreliable reviews, but that doesn't mean all are.

That's like going reading articles from The Onion, and complaining that it's not accurate, so you'd damn anything in regards to writing and journalism.

It's discussion, it's one of the reasons that there are forums in the first place.

So read a review that does tell you more. Again, it's not hard. I've not tried to play Journey, you know why? I watched videos and read the glowing reviews and knew I wouldn't like it.

Same for a game like Bloodborne. Critically acclaimed and highly reviewed, but those reviews and videos were enough to know it wasn't for me, because they told me what the game involved, factually, as well as giving their opinions on it.

Hey I'm all for discussion. Sometimes there is pointless discussion in forums. That's why they have them.

I agree, its no problem to discuss as long as we respect each other. In my case I'm very stubborn because I'm kinda "old" and I also dont express myself perfectly in english.
I didnt know the Onion, I suppose its a joke news site.

Echo chamber?

Here you go.

Your opinion as an editor is to me its just a random opinion and I dont give it much attention, sorry to say. If everyone was like me, you'd be out of work I suppose.

Ah, so the "fan since GT1" qualification doesn't stick. See echo chamber comment.

Car magazines? Pretty much the same, its much much better to try the car yourself. However thats a case when you are more forced to read reviews because having access to driving a car is much harder than having access to trying a videogame.

For adults, it's actually surprisingly easy to try a car. Sure, I won't be able to hop into a Ferrari anytime soon, but there are plenty of cars where I could walk into a dealership and test drive them.

Which is moving further and further away from the point: reviews are important, because they inform the people that read them about the subject at hand. If you can't distinguish facts from opinions, that's not the reviewer's fault.

I dont think I missed any point.
Pretty sure GTS will have a demo available so... problem solved.

Same as above. A demo will surely be available for such an important PS game.
Of course. That's why GT5 had the near universal praise that GT5 Prologue did.

And the GT Academy 2010 demo sure did a fantastic job showing us how far PD had advanced in single player career mode structure, AI capability, sound design, multi-player functionality, game performance, car customization...

You play other driving games, not just GT. By hardcore GT fan I meant people who only play GT and dont really need another one.
I didnt know the "echo chamber" concept and I think it doesnt exist in spanish. But I dont think I'm an echo chamber person as I always tend to have my own opinion and I rarely get influenced.

Thank you for quite hilariously illustrating exactly what an echo chamber is.

Then you're not looking for an honest review. You're just looking for someone that has just as much bias as you, to spoon feed you what you want to hear.

So being happy with a game series means I'm in an echo chamber? Ok then, no problem.
Wait, and these are the people who aren't supposed to be biased? Like you?
I think everyone is biased as I said. Read the last two pages. If someone plays GT since GT1 and no other drivign game, its because this person surely likes GT. Then, I'm up for listening to someone who really appreciates this game series. Thats it.

Again, I dont get this need for always having to compare games.
If I like BMW and I'm looking to buy the next BMW model, why you have to bring in Audi here?

But surely those people are more bias towards GT than those that play various games? Again, like you, who doesn't see any flaws with a lot of GT aspects because you've not played any other games to know there is better out there.

At least someone who plays both but prefers one over the other does have something to compare to in their bias.

No game is flawless. Please tell me a game that is.
Yes I tried other games, but one thing is trying and other is playing and buying them. The one I liked most besides GT was Assetto Corsa, but it doesnt have nearly as much content, and I prefer to play on console.

Again, I dont get this need for always having to compare games.
You're purposely blinding yourself. A comparison between games is what will help you decide what is the better bang for your buck, what has the most features, what is wrong, what isn't, what is needed, and so on. It's fine to have a preference to GT, but you're missing out on a lot

The funny thing is that you're lying. You do feel the need to compare games, as it has shown in the many arguments you get in on GTP.

If I like BMW and I'm looking to buy the next BMW model, why you have to bring in Audi here?
This does not make sense. If you want a new BMW, yet you know that Audi is similarly priced, then why not go find out some information on it? You know, go read some reviews, find out what the pro's and cons are for both, and actually form an educated opinion on the matter instead of pretending that the other brand doesn't offer anything.

No game is flawless. Please tell me a game that is.
No game is, and that's why comparisons and reviews are necessary, to find out what is lacking, or to find out if it has something you might like.

I dont think I missed any point.

Keep on making assumptions.

Here's an idea. Try phrasing the argument that we're making in your own words. Then we'll see how much is actually getting into your head.

Do you move goalposts for a living, or is it just a hobby?
I earn a good salary by moving goalposts, proud of it.

You have to understand that some people are so pleased with one certain product that dont have the need to take a look at anything else.
I dont lie, pretty much all the games I tried were at some friends houses, It was just curiousity.
We live in an era where we have a lot of products offered to us and we cant use them all and we have to choose. Some people that are very happy with a certain product, and they simply ignore the rest, and dont bother.

Keep on making assumptions.
Assumptions? Actually its reported that a beta version will come out.

No you are quite literally lying. You say that you don't have a need to compare games, but your post on this forum obviously tell a different story.

Oh please.
One thing is to have the need to try other games and the other is just trying them out of curiousity at a friends house.

You do realize that doing so is not conducive to good discussion, right? So stop doing it, and especially stop lying and acting like you never did it. It frustrates people and makes you look like an ***.

Oh please what? The last comparison between Forza and GT you made was not even that long ago. Did you already forget? I don't know why you'd pretend like you haven't, the posts are available for anyone to see.

Yes. Like assuming that we all have PS4s.
Hmmm... well. I suggest that if you are going to buy the PS4 only for 1 game or 2 (GT series) then dont do it. But If I were you I would buy the PS4 but also to get more out of it, buy other games. I really really like the Uncharted games for example. U4 will come out soon I think.
On another note I find hard to believe that no friend of yours has a PS4 to help you try some games. Already 4 or 5 of my friends have PS4 and they are not very hardcore games, and we also live in an country with economic troubles.

It was a tonge-in-cheek comment. Why so serious?

Yes, so what? I still tried them because of curiousity. I didnt have the need to leave GT series and move to Xbox and forza or something like that.

The point is that it's hard believe anything you say. You say you don't compare games, yet that was obviously a lie. Now you're saying so what?

Not only that but you have, on more than one occasion said you didn't do something and when we bring it up, you act like it doesn't apply.

You must have a great memory then, I know almost nothing about any members here.
Think whatever you want, I dont force you to believe me.
