Yes i believe there is something else out there! And no i don't think they been here yet. If Sony can't keep secrets, why do you think our governments can.:sly:

If PD were to work with the goverments that would be much better, because PD knows how to keep secrets :D

I'd love to hear from whoever voted a straight up "no" to the poll question. It'd be intriguing to find out why they have no belief in alien life.

You gotta be pretty damn arrogant to think Earth is the only planet in the universe with life.

It's highly unlikely that there isn't life elsewhere in the universe.

What is it like? I don't know. I'm sure some of it is similar to us, and I'm sure some of it is so different that we cannot even fathom what it's like.

They could exist but then again maybe not. We can't confirm nor deny extraterrestrial life. Just because we haven't seen any doesn't necessarily mean they don't exist but we haven't been able to confirm they exist.

Well, judging by the poll, this is the general consensus : Yes, but I don't know what they'd be like.

Which brings something to mind, just a thought.Has anyone ever seen the show on TV called "V" ? Could it be that aliens can take on a form of a human ? Are they really here monitoring us ? Thoughts.......... (this may get interesting).

This idea that some people seem to have that a UFO must equal an alien spacecraft is quite scary.
Also, am I the only one that thinks a flying saucer (which never seem to have any kind of external thrusting device) isn't really the greatest shape for an object to enter our atmosphere without ending up looking like a drunken attempt at scrambled egg?

I actually saw a UFO! No lie! It was a few months back and I was with some relatives. I stayed up till' 2:30AM to watch a marathon of Jaws and I fell asleep in a bed next to a window. Then, I woke up at around 3:45 AM to look out the window. I saw what my eyes couldn't believe, a UFO:eek:!
It just floated for about fifteen seconds in the air with a bright light in the circle and orange and green. Then, it went to the east away from the window's sight. I walked around for about 15 minutes to see if I was dreaming I seemed very awoke. Then, I pinched myself :ouch:. It seemed I wasn't in a dream at all. After that I went to bed. To this day I believe in aliens, but I don't want to know what they look like:scared:

It would appear my cover has been blown. Don't worry though, we just came here to capture our worlds most wanted criminal.

We have been on her trail for thousands of years, but every time we get close she kills our troops with her death screech(which you humans seem to enjoy:crazy::scared:).

Back on topic: I guess it would be plausible. Since we know little of extra terrestrial life it wouldn't be to out there to think they could take the form of another being.

You mean Hannah Montana?

The human race on earth is just a random alien's science experiment :) Aliens came here thousands of years ago and injected chimps with alien DNA. So in fact... we are ALL aliens ;) J/K guys...

I had a class in high school called Theory of Knowledge, basically a philosophy class and our teacher presented us with this theory. I even believe, if Im not mistaken, that this has been published and is an official theory. I could be wrong though... We're talking 10 years ago here :D My memory banks could have jumbled the data a bit...

Eventually the unniverse will become a cold unhasbitibal place with lonley heat rays floating through space and it wil be like this for eternity. This will mean that evenually in infintly small percentage of history was ever any good. What was the point of life?

Apparently not spelling ;)

The point of life? Well, I largely believe that life was accidental, in which case there is no strict "point" to it (in the same way that accidentally stubbing your toe has no "point"), but I reckon this leaves us free to make our own "point" to life. And personally, doing the best you can do for yourself sounds like a good point to life - work hard, reap the benefits, contribute to society somehow, enjoy yourself and enjoy the company of others. Works for me.

yeah my spelling is shocking i just can't help it.

That decribes the meaning of life really well, (like the analogy of comparing the meaning of life to stubing your toe lol) do you think this would deserve another thread because it being posted here is would get off topic.

...to figure out how to survive that. We've got a little time.

Seriously, even if it means creating our own big-bang or jumping back in time - I have to think we're smart enough to overcome what nature throws at us.

we can survive from most what nature can throw at us alright, but can we survive from what our beloved governments/religions throw at us? :nervous: That's the big question

I like the theory of parallel universes. Hopefully when this life ends my existence will continue in another universe where I have made other decisions and my life will have taken a different course.

The thought of dying and having no additional after life is unnerving which is why I believe religion is so popular. The promise of an after life for sticking to a set of "rules" sounds great.

I've always wondered about aliens monitoring us or even possibly living amongst us. Maybe we are the finished product of an artificial experiment designed by alien life forms.

i read a article somewhere about a professor somewhere who worked out that it is more likely that we are virtual rather than real since an advanged civilzation could run an infinate number of these. With the number of virtual people vastly outnumbering real people. So it is likely that we are part of a massive computer program that is controlling us.

scary hey!

There is no point in life. You just get one and do something with it.

Do you have the article? There is no doubt that it's a possibilty, but I'd like to know why he think's it is likely.

So long as it's alright with the rules, I fully support having the discussion in this thread. Though it could get confusing. If you want to make the topic, go ahead.

If you type "the real matrix" into Google you'll get a bunch of articles addressing this scenario. Although I don't know if I've ever seen one done by a professor before.

This is the most comprehensive ones I've seen, although the factuality of it is a bit...errr well it leaves me a bit sceptical.

My own sense of Cartesian Doubt lays heavy suspicion upon the actual existence of this thread—as if it were, like, a hallucination, or, like, a virtual reality simulation, or something, y'know?

But you'll probably be blind in your right eye in that universe as the puck may have hit you an inch lower down...
