Man, hard drive loss > Me.

Several months ago I had a power outage or something that ended up corrupting part of the directory structure of my boot drive. The only directories that were affected were C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 and C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator. Couldn't boot. Couldn't repair the installation. Couldn't recover any of my important stuff. I couldn't even list the files in the directories from the Recovery Console.

The hard drive was fine after I low-levelled it.

Mine was server 32 related it seems, as explained to me by Gateways tech guru, I had some sort of registry problem with system 32. When the LovSan virus came it had a conflict and caused a major malfunction, where my OS couldn't recognize my Drive. So, I took it to them and they spent 2 weeks blasting the partition (Flooded with LovSan problems that don't understand the workings of a firewall.)

Anyway, anyone miss me?

It's in the wrong forum...but uhh, I just hope that never happens to me.

That is why you have to disconnect everything from your computer during a lightning storm, so you don't fry anything. I never do though, because I'm on some piece of crap that I can careless about.

Yeah, same here. That, and my dad has this super-de-duper surge protector thingy that supposedly protects our computer. Luckily we haven't had to test it yet.

FYI for you guy's with SYS32 issues,... I'm no computer genious,.. but I have figured out recently that ANYTIME someone tries to "break-into" my computer from the internet (unauthorized access), they always enter through the SYS32.

Dont know if it has anything to do with your problem or not,... but, I deny ALL ACCESS on requests from muy firewall to allow access to my system.

Moral of the story,.. get a firewall,.. and pay money for it,.. the free ones are crap.

Well the problem was that microsoft knew they had a major security leak, but did little to nothing about it, someone capitalized on it. Every computer company in the country made money charging 50-100$ to blast a partition and format. Rockin.

Or you just buy a power pack with a surge protector.
